Story of another Sunday

Two of our newest blogging furiends, Miss Kylie and Ludo, tagged us for a new game, “What Were you Doing Last Year?” We are supposed to go back in our archives and show woo our post from a year ago. Well, we didn't begin our blog until last Fourth of July. Since we didn't want to disappoint Miss Kylie or Ludo, we decided to tweak the game a little bit.

Our first post was all about TD, Thunder Dunder, that is. Since he was listed there as the main spokespupster for the blog, we decided to tell woo a little bit about how Thunder came to be a member of the pack.

As some of woo know, our Mom helps her two daughters by taking care of their little bipeds during the week. During the summer of 2006, there was only one baby grandbiped with her. Since she was "potty-trained" and since her parents were expecting another little biped in January 2007, Mom and Dad thought the summer would be a good time to add a third pup to the pack of Dakota and Phantom.

Things didn't go quite as Mom had expected. After a lot of research into finding a good breeder, she found herself third on the list for a pup from a litter expected to arrive in July. Unfortunately, there were only two pups! The nice breeder lady helped Mom find another great breeder in St. Louis who was awaiting the arrival of her sibe's litter. Tragedy struck and this poor pup had a massive aneurysm and died suddenly. Sadly they were not able to get her to the vet quickly enough to save any of the pups. Mom was convinced that a new pup was not going to happen. BUT a few days later, she got a call from the first breeder lady who felt so badly for us, and she told Mom about this wonderful pup in Iowa who was looking for a home. After a bunch of conversations and emails and picture sending, Mom drove to meet Thunder on the first Sunday of August.

Even then at 16 weeks old, he was a BIG boy. He was the only pup in his litter and at 16 weeks promised to be one sturdy dude. But that didn't matter to Mom, it was love at first sight. She and Thunder came home together and we guess he is here to stay. Here are a few of the first pictures we have of him.

"What do woo think, Phantom? Should we keep him?"

"Hey, do woo think I can scale this wall?"

"Hey Phantom, what's up with this cell woo have here, how do we get out?"

Day is done.

Now for the rest of the story . . . Two days later, the mommy-to-be had her ultrasound done at which they were going to find out if the second little biped would be a boy or a girl. Daughter called Mom on the phone and excitedly told her, "Guess what, Mom? What do you think it is?" Now Mom knew her daughter was hoping for a boy and her enthusiastic voice told her it must be a boy. So, of course, she said, " A boy???" And Daughter replied, "Yes, it's a boy, and . . . ???" Mom said, "what do you mean, and????" "And...???" Well, not to keep woo in suspense any longer, the "and" was a GIRL!!! Yes, TWINS were on the way. Mom just about lost it. Here she had just gotten a new puppy and in about four months, she was now going to be sitting for three little ones. Little did she know then that Daughter #2 would be gifting her with another little biped in the spring, bringing the total to four little ones here all week - now woo see why there are so many toys around here.

Yep, Mom now has four little grandbipeds here everyday of the workweek. And she always tells this story by adding that, IF she had any idea on that Sunday in August what was coming into her life down the road, Thunder would never have become a member of the pack. She didn't think she could handle three little babies, a toddler, AND a young puppy. Lucky thing he arrived that Sunday, two more days and he would have still been in Iowa looking for a home.

Mom said we had to be sure to add that she is very happy to have Thunder, that he is a great dog, and that she would have been the biggest loser if things had happened any differently. Wasn't he just the cutest puppy, even with those ears?

Woos, the OP Pack

Pee Ess Woo - if woo would like to play “What Were you Doing Last Year?”, please go ahead; it is our pleasure to pass it on.

  15. What a terrific story. I wonder where Thunder would of ended up if you hadn't of got him.
He was a very cute puppy and with long ears like Gizmo who wouldn't of wanted him.

I'm sure they all don't mind the human toys being left around the house for them all to play with either.
