True Colours Thursday and a Dakota Update

It's True Colours Thursday again and today's color is BROWN. As we were hunting for brown in our house, we found a lot of it here, there, and everywhere. But most of it was pretty boring which is how Mom feels about brown in general. So we narrowed it down to eight pictures of some brown in our house.

^^ The family room in the basement

^^ The bar in the recreation room

^^ The huDAD's parents' clock complete with annoying chimes

^^The huMom's curio cabinet of goodies

^^ Mom's piano that really needs tuning and playing
(she wants to get back to it - someday)

^^ Some of the resident stuffies that are paws-off to the pups

^^ Let's feature this one in particular - the oldest grandbiped's favorite stuffy - Corduroy

^^ And lastly, Mom's favorite creation from many years ago - she laid every BROWN shingle one by one. (Don't look too closely - it needs maid service badly.)

We love playing this game and checking out the posts of others who have joined in as well. If woo would like to play too, just talk to Blue to find out all the details.

Now for an update on Princess Dakota from the Mom. Yesterday's wordless post was meant to show woo that the poor girl is not doing so well lately; that mopey position is pretty typical these days and she doesn't stay in one position for more than five minutes - thus the many different poses woo saw. Some of woo already know but from the comments we guess some of woo are not aware of the fact that the big D has been battling Cushing's Disease for a couple of years now. Overall she has done better than the oncologist ever expected but we have been seeing some big changes lately. Even the vet, who has seen her three times now since mid-January, was surprised today at how much things have deteriorated in just the past two weeks. We try not to dwell on it too much here on the blog because we would rather talk about happy things. We have now added some additional pain meds to her daily intake. She has been on Metacam for about a year now and started Tramadol today. She has had two "episodes" in the past three weeks that are most likely seizures or mini-strokes. She has extremely high blood pressure that does not respond to medication. She has at least two malignant tumors that we know of. She is now having a lot more difficulty getting up and down and is very sensitive about being touched in the hind area and abdomen. We are doing our best to keep her comfortable. We know the end is coming and we will accept our responsibility to help her cross the famous bridge when that time comes. Hopefully it won't be anytime too soon.

Thanks to all for your kind comments. And yes, Thundering Herd, rooting or tooting - it's all good.

Woos, the OP Pack

  5. Hey Dakota, your twin Qannik continues to send good vibes as well as that rooting and tooting. Our former Queen Nikita, who raised Queen Natasha, also had Cushings among many other issues.

As for off limit stuffies, that is just unfair.

  7. I'm sorry to hear about Dakota. She might surprise you with her determination to hang on. My "uncle" Sabo was a husky/mal mix who made it to 15. John and Kelly say that they thought it was his last day, every day, for the last 3 years. He was on Tramadol for the last 2 and it helped a lot. So I hope that it helps, Dakota, too. Hang in there Dakota!
