Tuesday Talk and Thanks

Today is a day of the sweet and the bittersweet. It was wonderful to hear the good news report about Max and his surgery. You can read more about Max at Petey's. And Butchy gave us an update on his sister Miss Snickers that sounds promising. We are so happy to hear the upbeat reports. If you haven't read about these two special pups, please check out the links.

But it is very sad for us to hear that our furiend, Dakota of the East, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Not too long ago, we dubbed the two Dakotas with special names referencing their locations, Joni's sweet Dakota of the East and our own Dakota of the Midwest.

Dakota of the East fought a hard battle to try to beat her kidney issues, but in the end she just couldn't do it any more. Here are a couple of beautiful photos of her that we pulled from her blog.

Loving the warmth of the sun during a comfy nap.

Snuggling with a furry furiend and getting a gentle caress from her Mom.

Please stop by and send some good wishes to Joni and her family at Dakota's blog, It's A Sibe Life. Dakota was very fortunate to live the good sibe's life with her family.

Saturday a very large box arrived at our front door and it was addressed to Phantom and Thunder. It was filled with lots of fun things from White Dog and her Mom as our prizes for winning in Hansel's Halloween Spooktacular. Siku Marie and her mom sponsored this portion of the contest.

Here is a photo of all our loot. Phantom's goodies are on the left and Thunder's on the right.

Here is a closer look at what Phantom won. There is a very nice certificate for winning first prize in the Best Excuse for Not Wearing a Costume, a bag of yummy treats from Dugan's Bakery, two very nice toys, and a gorgeous 2010 desk calendar filled with art and photography by Lisa Manry.

Thunder also got a beautiful certificate for winning second prize in the Best Dog Costume, some more treats from Dugan's Bakery, and two very nice toys. There is also a very lovely photo, also by Lisa Mantry, of a beautiful black-eyed Susan flower and bumble bee. It is magnetic and looks wonderful on our refrigerator.

Lisa Mantry is the mom of the kitty cats Hansel and Tesla and the mini Schnauzer Benny, who hosted the Halloweeen Spooktacular Contest. You can see more of her beautiful work at http://www.wix.com/thelovelylesil/lisaphotography.

Thunder checking out the loot, admiring that big bone.

And quickly discovering the scent of delicious treats.

Thank you to the beautiful White Dog, Siku Marie, and her mom for our prizes. We love everything.

And Siku Marie's mom told us this: "Glad you like the gifts. Just wanted you to know that portions of each gift included donations to the Humane Society, our local no-kill rescue, and dogs for vets. " That makes the gifts even more special since some others less fortunate benefited from the contest too.

Don't believe everything you hear on the news. They said WE got snow overnight.

Snow??? What snow???? Oh, you mean that white stuff on the tiretracks of the mower? Looks like we are in for another disappointing winter of no-snow:(

Woos, the OP Pack

We will leave our love at her blog. We did not know her but she is certainly beautiful and based on what her friends say, has a wonderful soul.

Glad you like the gifts. Just wanted you to know that portions of each gift included donations to the Humane Society, our local no-kill rescue, and dogs for vets.

Lots of good news and bad. We are so sorry to hear about Dakota.
Glad to hear our other pup friends are doing better..
What only a little snow. What is that about. Mother-nature needs to get busy so we can see you all playing in the snow..
Yepper Callie and Marley are best buds now. Callie found out she likes to chase and Callie can stay way ahead of her.. Of course Marley runs out of energy long before Callie does..

Hi guys!
A bittersweet post indeed. We never met the other Dakota, but she looks like a great pup. So sad that we doggies can't stay young and healthy furever, it's so hard on the humans when something happens like that.

On a brighter note - nice prizes!! Oh, and mom wants me to tell you there is a Sibe in the agility class before ours - she will be going to a trial with us in January.

Sorry about your snow... Keeps being summer here, so I know how you feel!

It's been complicated otherwise I'd be still seeing her. I'm very heart broken but hoping and praying she'll be WELL TAKEN CARE OF WITH HIM. Please take a moment to stop by my blog. if you haven't already, I just posted a dedication blog to a Weimy we met a lil over a month ago. just learned she has cancer..
anyway - take care of them dogs and they will take care of you... send them huggies from me.. thanks so much for being our friend..

Hi guys,

We were sorry to read about pretty Dakota, but a good life is the best we can ask for so we're sure she's running free and happy at the Rainbow Bridge.

What a great load of loot you won!! Very well deserved - and how wonderful that lesser fortunate dogs will benefit as a result! Well done, that was a fun competition!
