Thanking, Thinking, and a little of This and That

Thank you, Daisy, for sharing this nice award with us.
That was so nice of you.

And the rules say to share it with 15 furiends. Well, you know what we Siberians think about rules. It is too hard to name just 15, so go ahead, accept this as an early Christmas gift from the OP Pack.

We were very sad this week to learn that a very sweet kitty furiend has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Charybdis, the beautiful and beloved furbaby of our friends at Alasandra: The Cats & a Dog, will be missed so much by so many. Please send some good thoughts to her family. If you have ever visited their blog, you know that they have beautiful gardens and share their lovely flowers with us all the time. Today they have dedicated their gardening tour to the memory of Charybdis. It is a little cold here for any outside blooms, but we wanted to offer Mom's beautiful Christmas cactus as a tribute to the memory of Charybdis.

Last year it didn't bloom on time for Christmas, but look at it now!

It seems to really like this spot on the mantel of the kitchen fireplace.
Isn't it so beautiful?

Next to it you can see our pretty Siberian Husky carousel.

Let's turn it around a bit so you can see some more.

And one more spin. Mom got this a few years ago. We all would love to be able to pull a sled like that too.

As we said, it is very cold here today. It was only 2 degrees when Mom got up this morning. Yes, we sibes are supposed to love the cold. Someone must have forgotten to give the message to Phantom.

He loves the warm sun.

And the sun shining through the windows is his favorite.

Thunder, on the other hand, loves the snow and the cold. Here he is trying to be patient and wait for his brother to wake up
and go out with him.

You guessed it, he gave up pretty quickly and headed out by himself to check out the yard. We still have some snow, not much, but some is better than none.

Oh oh, maybe I made a mistake, it is pretty frigid out here.

Please, can I come in?

Woos, the OP Pack

  7. We had flurries yesterday and Tsar wanted to go out, but it was so cold and windy that he came right back in and curled up in his blanket. He spent the whole day that way. Our snow didn't stick.

  14. It's been colder here in N. CA than usual and I was watching the news and they highlighed dogs and cold wether.... they were saying no matter what type of dog you have (thick fur or very little fur) if they aren't use to the cold they wont much care for it! So even though you ar meant to be snow pups and pull sleds... in reality you live inside! So I think i'ts normal that you might get cold and want to come in!

    Whats a Tweedles to do?
I know you love to go play in the snow and cold-but don't stay out very long. Come back in and sit by the fire, and I will come curl up with you.

  40. Oh Thunder and Phanthom

So sorry to her about Charybdis. We will go over there right now.

That little bit of snow we got last week was a spit in the bucket compared to yours. Mommy says she thinks that Thunder has such gorgeous eyes and she would love to come out and play in the now with him if she was 40 years younger. I would rather stay in with Phanthom and lay in the sun.

  43. What a wonderful post. Everything about it. Your tribute to Charybdis with the picture of your blooming Christmas cactus (against a lovely background) was such a perfect message. We know they'll love and appreciate it. And that husky carousel! How lucky you are to own that. It sets dreams and fantasies in motion! Moma LOVES carousels, and this one is so special.

We're glad you got a bit of snow, but totally understand the frigid weather. Like you, we like the sunny spots to nap. Speaking of which .... where's Jake?

Congratulations on your award! It's so well deserved. We love your blog.

Off to check our Christmas cactus. It usually waits until January ... which is fine ... we need some brightening up in that cold snowy month!

    Love
Fergi (and Jake ... I just heard a big yawn from the other room)

Very sorry to hear about Charybdis... Ishtar's Ark had a beautiful kitten for a short period of time; she left such a void after she died all too soon.

Sheba sends warm greetings to Phantom and asks if she can borrow some of his good fur in return? Snow looks very fun indeed but she's afraid she'd get her paws, ears and nose frozen...

    Warm greetings from West Africa!

  52. Phantom is my kind of Sibe. I'll be happy to enjoy the warmth of the sun any day with him.
On behalf of my ma and the entire family, I want to thank you for all the feedback on potty training. Apparently Dakota's issues were temporary and only at night. Phew! We have new developments: only 5-10 minutes ago I heard our mom scream at the top of her lungs: Frankie's potty trained! (all that 'cause the brat peed on her pad twice in a row ha ha). We'll just have to wait and see, but it has been almost a full year.
