Time for All Seasons???

Now how crazy is this? Here is a picture from yesterday - this is Mom's Christmas cactus which has never bloomed since it was first in bloom when she bought it four years ago. It IS still February, isn't it? Nothing quite like Christmas replayed. (And yes, that is Mom's Siberian carousel next to it.)

Now here is another picture taken yesterday - Mom's hyacinths are popping up through the mulch. It IS still February, isn't it? Spring preview, maybe?

And here is what today looks like.

OK, let's tease woo a bit.

Hmmmm, can woo wait just a little bit longer - keep scrolling down:)

FINALLY!!!

SNOW, GLORIOUS SNOW, WONDERFUL SNOW, BEAUTIFUL SNOW, FLUFFY SNOW, REFRESHING SNOW, DELIGHTFUL SNOW!!!

^^ Where are my packmates? Doesn't anypup want to come
play with me?

^^ Hey TD, I think I will take in the beauty of the landscape
from my window spot.

^^Who, me? I don't think so, TD. I'm buzzed out here on those little white pills Mom keeps slipping in my food.

^^OK, I'm outside now. Can I just sit here?

^^That's pretty funny, Mom - woo want ME to clear the stairs off?

^^I'm awake now, can I please come out too?

^^Is is OK if I use the deck for my pottying?

^^OK, Mom, now it's your turn to come out here too.

^^Hey Mom, woo look pretty funny upside down!!!

So yes, Mother Nature finally graced us with some snow. The weather guy said it is the biggest snowfall the KC area has gotten since December 7, 2005!!!! We got about four inches but other parts of KC got closer to six. We didn't care how much we got as long as there was enough to cover the grass. Woo Hoo!!! All the neighbor pups came out too - Click here and here if you want to see some of the fun we had. Once woo get to that Photobucket page, look over to the right of the video pane where woo can click on a few of the other short videos Mom took of us outside today. In various clips, woo can see some of our backyard furiends: the three goldens, Tank, Tracker, and Ready; a poodlepointer (???)Roxie; and Scout, our next door neighbor labmix. Enjoy.

From Dakota

Dakota wants to say thank you to everyone for their kind wishes.

We tried to get her to woo some thanks to everyone but if woo click HERE, this is the best we could get.

Her new medicine seems to be making her a little woozy, but she can still wag that tail.

True Colours Thursday and a Dakota Update

It's True Colours Thursday again and today's color is BROWN. As we were hunting for brown in our house, we found a lot of it here, there, and everywhere. But most of it was pretty boring which is how Mom feels about brown in general. So we narrowed it down to eight pictures of some brown in our house.

^^ The family room in the basement

^^ The bar in the recreation room

^^ The huDAD's parents' clock complete with annoying chimes

^^The huMom's curio cabinet of goodies

^^ Mom's piano that really needs tuning and playing
(she wants to get back to it - someday)

^^ Some of the resident stuffies that are paws-off to the pups

^^ Let's feature this one in particular - the oldest grandbiped's favorite stuffy - Corduroy

^^ And lastly, Mom's favorite creation from many years ago - she laid every BROWN shingle one by one. (Don't look too closely - it needs maid service badly.)

We love playing this game and checking out the posts of others who have joined in as well. If woo would like to play too, just talk to Blue to find out all the details.

Now for an update on Princess Dakota from the Mom. Yesterday's wordless post was meant to show woo that the poor girl is not doing so well lately; that mopey position is pretty typical these days and she doesn't stay in one position for more than five minutes - thus the many different poses woo saw. Some of woo already know but from the comments we guess some of woo are not aware of the fact that the big D has been battling Cushing's Disease for a couple of years now. Overall she has done better than the oncologist ever expected but we have been seeing some big changes lately. Even the vet, who has seen her three times now since mid-January, was surprised today at how much things have deteriorated in just the past two weeks. We try not to dwell on it too much here on the blog because we would rather talk about happy things. We have now added some additional pain meds to her daily intake. She has been on Metacam for about a year now and started Tramadol today. She has had two "episodes" in the past three weeks that are most likely seizures or mini-strokes. She has extremely high blood pressure that does not respond to medication. She has at least two malignant tumors that we know of. She is now having a lot more difficulty getting up and down and is very sensitive about being touched in the hind area and abdomen. We are doing our best to keep her comfortable. We know the end is coming and we will accept our responsibility to help her cross the famous bridge when that time comes. Hopefully it won't be anytime too soon.

Thanks to all for your kind comments. And yes, Thundering Herd, rooting or tooting - it's all good.

Working for the Squirrel Patrol

As we told woo yesterday, we don't see squirrels around our yard furry often. But since we are now members of the Squirrel Patrol, Thunder decided to hone his squirrel-tasting skills. If woo click here, woo can see him in action.

Hope woo all have a wonderful week.

Pee Ess, in case woo aren't sure, that is a chipmunk, but close enough to a squirrel.

We've enlisted. . .

. . . in Kira's war against the squirrels.

She created this special award to "help keep all of these evil critters away from our houses, yards and cars!" The OP Pack is ready, willing, and able to join forces in this cause. If woo want to become members of the Patrol, Kira says that all who believe in keeping these small furry creatures away are welcome to join. So feel free to take this award for woo and pass it along as well. After all, there is power in numbers.

An Award from a Furiend and Prayers Needed

Look at the beautiful award we won from Huffle.

Thanks, Huffle Mawson. It is wonderful having woo as our furiend.

Most of woo know about Bogart's Dad. He really could use some good thoughts and prayers. And don't forget Bogart's Mom, she could really use some good vibes too.

True Colors Thursday

Today's color is BLUE - and THAT is Mom's favorite color - it has been for her whole life and she is really old. We were on the hunt for some of her favorite BLUE items around the house, of which there are many. But we decided to post only one because this is probably the one BLUE at the top of her list, especially now.

Do woo know who this is?

We found this fun Thursday color game from Blue. If you would like to join in the fun, just pay a visit to Blue's Blog and sign up. Next Thursday's colour will be Brown.

Thunder's visitor

A few weeks ago Gizm0 posted about how he found an interesting creature. It was a lizard! Now Gizmo said his blue-tongued lizard was almost as long as he was. I happened to be enjoying an afternoon snooze on the deck when I sensed that something was nearby.

Hmmm, what's this?

Sniff, sniff, sniff.

Should I or shouldn't I?

Yeah, I'm going for it. Sorry, Gizmo.

Friday Fun Facts

Our Golden furiend Samantha awarded us with the wonderful "Honest Weblog" prize! Thank woo, Samantha!!!

Here are the rules to follow:

"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog”. Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!

Thunder here, I decided to take on this challenge and see if I can tell woo ten honest things about me. Here goes:

1. Sometimes I can be furry lazy and sleep all day.

2. This is my favorite spot to take a snooze, under the desk in the kitchen. When I was just a pup, it was the first place I chose when I got here.

3. Yes, I USED TO fit inside that little cranny.

4. I love to play with Phantom and Dakota. Phantom and I do play a little rough sometimes and Phatom hurt his leg last week.

5. I am finally a good pal with Dakota. She even likes to play with me for a little bit now when she is having a good day. (She has Cushing's Disease and doesn't have a lot of energy anymore.)

6. I love to play with my cuzes and wubbas but I must be honest and tell woo that sometimes I do rip the wubba to find the ball.

7. I cannot tell a lie, I DO LOVE to dig holes and if I can find a wet spot at the bottom, the mud just feels so good on my feeties.

8. I love to eat and I am not fussy at all. Just don't ask me to eat bananas!

9. I have never been furry close to either a cat or a squirrel but one of my lifetime goals is to find out why they are such a fascination to some of my furiends like Khyra, Steve, and Rusty.

10. The most important thing for me to share with woo in this honest telling is that I am so furry happy that my forever home is right here with the rest of the OP Pack.

So that's the Honest Scrap from Thunder Dunder. A lot of woo have already done this fun game, so we are just going to offer it to any of woo who would like to play too.

Have a great weekend and do enjoy your Valentine's Day!!!

True Colors Thursday

Today is True Colors Thursday and the color for today is SILVER. We have lots of things around here that are silver but Mom said she only wanted to share one collection.

This is one of the cabinets that contains Mom's collection of spoons. Each spoon is either from one of our states or from another country. A spoon only earns the right to be in the cabinet if someone from the family actually visits that state or other location.

Here is the second cabinet.

This one does have a lot of spoons that are not silver; they are mostly international in nature. But it is still very nice to look at.

These two cabinets are very special to our Mom because the tradition of collecting the spoons was started by her mother. When she passed away, the spoons became Mom's to carry on the tradition. Mom also asked us to pass along the message that you shouldn't look too closely because she really needs to do some polishing:-)

Today is also a special day for the OP Pack - this is our 100th post. And as Khyra's Mom told our Mom, it is an appropriate time to do it since "after all, 100 is 4 silvers!" We don't have any exciting pics to share with you because we are all still helping Mom figure out how to do everything with her new Macbook laptop. We are very surprised we made it to #100 and hope to one day be able to celebrate many more centennials.

Running with Rusty

Last week our furiend Rusty talked about the joy of running and invited others to post some running shots today. We thought we would like to participate to the extent that we could. Now Princess Dakota doesn't do much running these days and Mom said we shouldn't encourage her either. So Phantom and I, Thunder Dunder, were going to do our best to show woo how huskies can run. BUT Phantom bailed on me. Look at this!

He has a sore front paw and he claims it is MY fault!!! He's been limping for two days now.

And so I was left all alone to complete the task. Here are a couple of still shots Mom captured of me. She kept taking more and more pictures and telling me that I was too fast for the delay on her camera. So what am I supposed to do about THAT? I just kept running. Finally she got a couple that did the trick.

Aw, c'mon, I really AM running here - the camera just didn't get it right!

And here I am running the other way, trying to get away from that beastie flashie!

Yep, running again, so stop with that chuckling!

Rut roh, I might get in trouble for this one, hope Mom didn't see Dakota running behind me. Maybe she missed it,
since this is my best action shot.

Then just for fun, click here for some live action of me running.

While Mom and I were working on our project, the birthday biped from yesterday was out showing off that she can run too. So, here's hoping Rusty doesn't mind that we let her join in on the fun. If woo watch here closely, woo can see AND hear how windy it was in OP today. AND woo can almost get a glimpse of her, ummm, dare I say it, her princessly underpanties - BOL.

Hope woo enjoyed our fun.
