Thursday - A Day for Thanking and Thinking

Thursday is a great day for thanking and thinking. We are all thankful for different reasons. Phantom is thankful that he is doing so well almost eight months after his nasty surgery. Thunder is thankful that he gets yummy treats and bowlfuls of good food. Ciara is thankful she found a home with so many great toys and two big brothers. Mom and Dad are thankful that our human brother and his wife Anni and son Jaden were far enough away from the earthquake in Taiwan yesterday to be OK. They are there visiting Anni's family for her brother's wedding. And we are all thankful for our wonderful readers and the many comments you leave for all of our posts. Your loyalty never ceases to amaze us.

Today we wanted to do something a little different. During the past year we kept receiving comments from "Alex93andme". Some of you may recognize the name because you get comments from them too. We wondered who they were because we could never find a blog for them, and there was no email address attached to their name. Finally this week we noticed that they had opened a gmail account. Mom helped us contact them so we could find out more about "Debbie and Hollydog". We were so excited to meet them.
Here are some great pics of Holly that her Mom shared with us.

Meet Holly.

Holly's father was a Cocker Spaniel and her mother was a rescued dog that the vet said looked like a mix of Shepherd/Retriever/Border Collie/Husky and "who knows what else", according to Debbie.

Holly was the only blonde out of 11 puppies!!!

Looks like she loves mountain climbing.

Debbie said that Holly looked a lot like a Cocker when she was a puppy, but as she got older, she started looking more like a Golden. You can certainly see THAT in this photo.

What a great pose!!!

Flying ears!!!

And did you wonder how Holly came to be a part of Debbie's life?

Debbie shared with us that she had lost a Cocker Spaniel, "Alex, the love of my life". Shortly after, Debbie had some health issues, and some people told her while she was recovering that she really should get a puppy. And as it so happened, these people just happened to know a couple who had a dog with a litter of puppies. Debbie said, "I kept almost yelling 'I don't want a puppy' everytime I went...they kept at me until I said 'fine, I'll go look and that's it.' Well, you can imagine how that played out!! Walk into a basement with eleven 5 week old puppies of all colors and my heart melted."
And you can just tell that Holly is very glad that Debbie came to visit.
Debbie and Holly do not have a blog, but they do hope to have one some day. Since they are so wonderful about visiting us so often, and many of your blogs too, that we thought it would be nice to feature them here today. And just to make it extra special, we want to share an award with them. Dennis the Vizsla gave this beautiful award to all his readers.

Holly and Debbie, please accept this award from us for being so nice.
We can't wait for you to have a blog too.

And now for the thinking part.

Ciara is thinking this is a pretty good spot
to hide in to get away from those boys.

And check this out - Mom is thinking Ciara is a very good thinker and fast learner.

Ciara thinks it is time to practice puppyoga.

Phantom thinks he has the best seat in the house.

He also thinks it is OK to be a day late with his studmuffin pose:)
(Notice he finally has fur on his chest again.)

C: What do you say, TD? Let's zoom!!!
TD: Forget it, kid - get lost!!!

Thinking, thinking, thinking . . .

Something's under here, I can smell it!

Ciara's thinking she is pretty cute:)

  3. Whar a wonderful post. Finding your mystery furfriends. Showing us Ciara's cleverness (we're in love). Letting us know folks are safe in Taiwan (although you must have had a few awful moments). And just making us feel good all over about how things are coming together for you!!

The sky was a clear clear blue today, and the wind was a bit chilly but delicious -- so it's a good day all around.

  18. Ciara, I thinks you are TOTALLY CUTE. ~Fenris (Blushing)

Thanks for telling us about Debbie & Holly. Holly is certainly adorable and we hope she gets a blog soon so we can visit her. Phantom we are glad you have hair on your chest again. Artemisia is still waiting for hers to grow back. Thunder, we would love for you to come hunt snakes with Fenris but we thinks the Moms wouldn't like it. Mommy is very worried that Fenny is going to get hurt one day. She is such a wuss. Daddy lost his sunglasses and Fenris consideratly found them in a pile of leaves and tried to show them to Mommy but she just saw something black and started screaming SNAKE!!! SNAKE!!!!! Boy did she feel like an idiot when it turned out to be sunglasses. ~AFSS

  22. Holly is so pretty! They say that mixed-breed humans are often prettier, and I think it definitely applies to dogs too!

And I am so amazed at Ciara! When I was so tiny... wait... I'm still so tiny. When I was younger, I wasn't half as clever as she is! Not without snack-centives anyway.
