Thankful Thursday AND The Devil Made Me Do It!

Gardening Exploits with Ciara - Take Two.
Hey, Puppypants, what's that in your mouth?
Where did all that dirt come from?

A little background - Mom has always admired the lovely variety of flowers that Fenris, Scylla, Socks, Artemisia, and their mom Alasandra have growing in their beautiful gardens. Two flowers that were especially interesting were the Angel's Trumpet and Devil's Trumpet.
This is the Devil's Trumpet - it looks upward.

And this is an Angel's Trumpet - it looks down.

Earlier this year, Alasandra sent us some seeds from the Devil's Trumpet and some for another pretty bloom, the Candlebush.

This is the Candlebush.

So about a month ago, Mom planted the Devil's Trumpet seeds and the Candlebush seeds and kept waiting and waiting for them to grow. Alasandra suggested this week that Mom cover the seed trays with plastic and keep them in a warm sunny spot. So yesterday she covered the trays with some plastic wrap and put them on the deck table in the beautiful warm sunshine. She checked on them during the day and they were just fine and safe. She brought them inside overnight and put them out again early this morning.

And now THIS:

Yep, Ciara decided she needed to do some more gardening.

This WAS the Devil's Trumpet plantings.

And this is what is left - only four little pots of the Candlebush. Now there actually were 16 pots of C
andlebush seeds AND 16 pots of Devil's Trumpet. Mom says she will now see if she can find the plants at the nursery. Sorry, Alasandra and furiends, Mom tried.

Ciara: I don't see what the problem is, I just knew there was something inside those pots that was stopping the seeds from growing. I just HAD to get rid of it. Guess "the devil made me do it."

How coincidental that we received THIS comment today from June and Samantha:
Gorgeous photos of woo all! Mom said if you didn't have any luck planting anything in the ground before, you probably won't have any luck now with little Ciara around.;)
Sam & June

While we are talking about Sam and June, we need to thank them for sharing some sunshine with us. It's been pretty dreary around here with the Momster still hobbling around with her back pain so it was an extra special award to us.

The only rule attached to this award is to post it and share it. So please let us add a little sunshine to your days too - it's all yours.

One more note of thanks on Thankful Thursday. Look at the beautiful card we received from The Houston Pittie Pack and their Mom.
Thanks to all of our furiends there in Houston and we hope you also had a wonderful Easter.

  1. You have quite a dedicated little gardener there. I've been having similar problems with some clematis I planted last week. They've been brought to me twice now by my handy helpers. So far today they're still in the ground.

  3. Ciara looks like she loves gardening! The only part she doesn't understand is you have to be careful with the plants!! She looks so cute looking at them!! Sitting in the dirt!!! I gave up on plants after Holly arrived. She decided to immediately dig holes in the yard. Many many holes. It looked like I had gophers! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

  4. Woo go Ciara!

I think that is why puppies have paws!

Woo khommented about how I liked the rain like Thunder and the sun like Phantom so woo were khurious if I'd like to garden too?

Akhtually, my gardening is fokhused on where to stash my Milkbone when Mom gives it to me outside (like she did today) OR to dig up some fresh birdseed by my tree!

I think woo got the double shot of Vikhtory Gardener! Must be that New England khonnekhtion!

  9. Sorry but we can't stop laughing. Ciara had such a devilish look on her face. We bets she had tons of fun destroying the seeds.

Our neighbor gave us TWO huge seeds to some sort of palm. It had to be soaked in water and then planted. Mommy put them in pots and they were safe in the greenhouse. Then Daddy decided to clean out the greenhouse without asking Mommy (she was at the store or something) and Fenris got one of the pots with one of the seeds in it and took off running with it. By the time Daddy caught him all the dirt and the seed were gone. But hey we still had one pot and one see right!!!!! Well those seeds must have been like nip to cats cause the next time Mommy opened the door to the greenhouse Fenris darted in an grabbed that pot too. Mommy managed to rescue it before the seed was lost but it never came up. Mommy thinks it was too traumatized by being in a dogs mouth.

If you need us too we can send more candlebush seeds. We are out of the devil's trumpet. We actually has a seedling of the candlebush we wishes you lived closer so we could bring it to you. Mommy still has 4 that she needs to find homes for.~AFSS

  11. Oh Ciara you are so funny in the way you try to help your mom! It is too bad you don't have the plants anymore, but maybe she knew something you didn't. That is our only guess right now!

  12. Ciara, the Devil Dog. We like the picture of you admiring your work with the broom and dust pan.

We will bet you attacked the broom while your mom was trying to sweep up the poor little seeds. We still like to "help" with the gardening.

  16. Must have been the devil. For sure. you shouldn't go eating the plants, Ciara. We've heard thay could grow in your tummy and that would hurt! (Bajas says it's just to keep us from destroying Mom's plants, but we don't take any chanses)

  22. Hi Ciara,

Mocha, Sugar & I are definitely with you when it comes to garden improvements. Yup, we think it's really helping your mom improve the garden. We do that a LOT here although sometimes we don't get to "re-plant" those we pulled out. Waaaah

We hope Thunder and Phantom and help you out with more excuses.

  34. Well Miss Ciara! As a fellow puppy, I must say GOOD WORK pal! Yet, I know your mom tried to grow something fantastic...and my mom...well...let's just say our yard is a work in progress, and nothing more than filter fabric at this point...so, not much to get out that digging urge!

    Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

  35. Hope mom's back is feeling better soon; we are sending positive healing energy her way. Maybe Ciara thought it was a good idea to get rid of a plant that would "trumpet" her devilish side!
