The Passing of Time

A year has passed and we all still miss our Princess so much. Time does heal the pain and we now are left to cherish the memories. Today we just want to post a few of our favorite photos from the past in loving memory of sweet Dakota. Many of you have seen these photos before in earlier posts, but this has been very comforting to all of us to linger over them again.

Salt and Pepper, a.k.a. Dakota and Lucky

Is my dinner ready?

Best pals from the beginning.

Sharing the best room in the house.

Are you sure you are old enough to drive?

Ding dong dell, Dakota's in the well.

Life is good.

What brown spots?

On guard duty.

Of course, I can have ALL the bones if I want them.

One of our favorite pics.

And then there were three.

Dreaming of snow.

Blue Eyes

Donkey watching.

Babies are fun food suppliers.

Two special princesses.

Did you HAVE to disturb my nap outside on the deck?

Sheesh, can't a girl get some beauty rest?

A rare moment on the humans' bed.

Our Sweetheart

We miss you.

We love you.

  2. You know that Dakota's long lost little brother, Qannik, sends his best wishes and thoughts to you. We think often of the special canines in our past - particularly, Nikita - and know how we miss them.

  3. What a beautiful memorial!

We remember some of these. LOVED seeing the one where Dakota is sitting on the chair. Just precious.

She will always be in our hearts even if we never met her in person. Time does help, but remembering her still brought tears to our eyes.

    We miss you Dakota!

  8. I didn't know Dakota, but she sure is a beauty. She lives on through the dogs she helped to raise and in your hearts, forever.

I tell my Wabbit boy, who's been gone for a year and a half, "I'll see you there, Bubba!" I tell him all the time!

  13. Thank you so much for bringing back memories of Princess Dakota. Indeed she was a very beautiful and loving princess. We feel sad that the Piappies did not have the chance to "meet" her but we are happy that we are building memories with Phantom, Thunder & Ciara.

Watch over us all Princess Dakota. Smile for your Mom all the time.

  14. Just lovely - it is a fitting tribute to our past dogs to take occassional trips down memory lane.
Reliving the moments, the smiles, the happiness as the pain begins to subside.
Of course Dakota remains in your hearts and that is just where she should be. Keep her safe there forever.

  15. We didn't meet you until after Dakota had left, so it was nice to see more of her. Our pups are never really gone, they always live on in our hearts. Mom still talks about Duncan regularly, it's been just over a year since his passing. I bet he & Dakota are tearing around on the other side of the rainbow bridge!!

  20. Ahhhh, sweet Dakota. :) That's one reason I love pictures so much...even though it can be sad to look at them and see the ones we miss so deeply and we may even shed a tear or two or three....it has always made me feel better to remember those good times. I think it's so therapeutic and healing. Thinking of you.
