Will the Gardener rest?

After a summer of too much rain in June, a broken inground sprinkler system in July, and relentless heat in August, our lawn fell victim to the heat, dryness, fungus, and insects. Then the new irrigation system arrived a couple of weeks ago and left us with a field of mud and trenches.

Next step was the aeration and verticut process of the lawn or what little was left of it. Over 100 lbs. of grass seed were spread.

And now we wait. Will the seed germinate? Will it survive the invasion of 12 Siberian paws? We aren't too worried about water. The new system is doing a great job of covering the entire area. AND we had a deluge of rain overnight with more coming this week.

The big question is: will the resident gardener understand that her work is done, and it is time to sit back and wait?

You aren't talking about ME, are you?

  1. looks like she could do with her own patch for her veggie's, Dog bones, the odd cookie. Would it make a difference ?
Like all great gardeners she will want more land.
She probably could do with a cup of tea after all that hard work :-) x x x

  2. Ah Ciara, you are so beautiful! We hope you manage to refrain from digging up the garden - a beauty such as yourself doesn't need a mud pack you know! And if your humans are anything like our humans they simply don't understand 'an artist at work' whilst you're landscaping - sigh!!!!

  5. Drop the act little Miss "who me?" First: you're a sibe. that means you are a criminal. Second: you like to dig. that means you are a garden criminal. Don't think for one cotton pickin' minute you're pullin' the old pantyloons puppypants over our eyes!

  8. It stinks that your lawn didn't make it this year and that you had to replace it and the sprinkler system. We hope it will germinate and grow great!!

And Ciara you are such a cutie - we know you will be a good girl and let the seed take root and grow before you start to dig it!

  9. Oh Ciara - you are just so darned gorgeous!!! 1,000 pounds of grass seed? That is a lot - and we're sure it will "take"!!! Actually, we are always in awe of your beautiful green lawn(s) and would have liked to have frolicked on it ourselves, so we are surprised that it got chewed up! But good, great luck in letting your resident gardener play Keep Away at this point!!!

  12. The last photo of Ciara is spectacular. She's such a beautiful girl, looking more mature each day. You are very lucky to have found her and vice-versa!

I think that your gardener looked sleepy in most of the photos so perhaps she knows that her work is done!

I doubt you will be able to sit still long enough to see if it works. Just try not to dig up too much of it, OK?

    Green thumb I am not.

However, that lawn definately needs some attention, 4 paws, 12 paws, whats the difference if you're thorough!

By the way Ciara, you sure are getting pretty (gulp!) I bet Mr Yak thinks so too

Tell Mom thank you for the note on our blog, and yes, the photos of your sweet Dakota reminds me too of our sweet Chloe. I can only imagine how much she misses her Dakota.
