Canopies and Cauliflower

Now did that title catch your attention?

"OK, when I said I wanted a princess canopy for my bed, this isn't quite what I had in mind."

(Ceiling repair underway)

"What is the Momster talking about now? She says I have a collie-flower in my ear - I wouldn't recognize a collie-flower if it walked by me. I always thought a collie was a dog named Lassie. What's up with this one?"

Now the Momster's turn. Yes, he does indeed have a cauliflower in his ear. The photo is a bit blurry, but it looks like a big ugly wart to me.

It is new, because Thunder gets his ears washed and checked regularly since he tends to build up wax. I know that these warts are usually benign and harmless, but we will be off to the vet this week to have it checked just to be sure. It will definitely have to be removed because it is big enough that it pretty much blocks the opening to his ear canal. Paws crossed it is nothing to worry about.

Now back to your regular Sunday program.

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

Pee Ess - we finally put away the Christmas stars and opened the last of the presents in our header. Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for our very beautiful new header.

  1. Aiiiiiiiieeeeee Collies are hoooge. How did you ever fit Miss Flower the Collie into your ear?? Well, I think the VET will think you shouldn't be putting stuffs like that.. or even Beans in your ears!!!
I am sure it'll be OK though.

Now about the new header... YES!! That's what I'm talkin about... It looks like Spring and Summer!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  2. Love the new header! As for the collie flower -- how strange that something our folks normally like to eat should have such a different manifestation. Fighters get cauliflower ears somethimes. We didnt know that doggies get them too.

    Hope it's something easily removed!!!

    Wirey love,

  4. It's always something. I took a big wad of hair out of Noah's ear last night. He has tine little ear canals and lots of hair growing in them. I try to keep up with ear cleaning, but this mess got past me.

Good luck with the vet. That doesn't sound like a serious thing, just a major inconvenience.

  5. We too will cross our paws that your ear is all better soon.

    ReplyDelete
  19. On nose - don't you hate ouchies? I think that is canine papiloma or something like that. I'm pretty sure they are contagious but go away on their own. Momma saw them when she was researching for my histocytoma. Going to the vet never hurts though. Hope that's all it is.

  26. Your new header is beautiful! We love it!! I wish I was able to do things like that but it just doesn't work for me at all! Ciara, you gorgeous princess, you look so pretty there on the carpet! We will pray that the collie flower in Thunder's ear is nothing bad and can be removed quickly. It looks like we are all running to the vet too much but it's sure necessary. Prayers and paws crossed for you. Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

  27. Beautiful new header photo! And I'm liking the spring-likeness of it with all the freezing temps we've been having (tonight is predicted to be minus eight below. Brrrr.) Paws cross that Thunder's cauliflower ear will be A-OK. I'll be looking for the updates. Husky hugs times 5 coming his way!

PS - I've been keeping my eye out for a white Sibe per your request. MaPaw (there is a link on my blog page) has a few beautiful white Sibes up for adoption. I didn't know if you were still looking and if you were interested in a pup or an adult, but I thought I'd pass it along.

  28. I KNEW IT! I knew collie-flowers were evil! Now they've invaded your ear too; oh poor Thunder! I'm keeping my paws crossed that it is nothing to worry about.

Ciara looks most royal under the canopy too, hehe.

I think I'd like having a canopy for my bed!

  31. Well... certainly it was not the kind of canopy you had in mind... but looks fine!
Thunder! Take your chance before the Vet takes care of that collie-flower in your ear. Now you can say to Momster... "Sorry, I did not hear you"!
I am sure everything is going to be ok!
    Take care

  32. My paws are crossed that it is nothing serious. Over the past year, I have developed several warts (about 8 of them). My mom is a little freaked out by them, but the vet says it is nothing to worry about, just part of growing older.

  36. Header looks great - looking forward to spring!

Cauliflower growths, which is what it looks like, look icky and grow fast, but otherwise just inconvenient. Poor boy - but he is ever so striking with his red heart tag!

It's bewildering that as the number of dogs in a group goes up, the likelihood of vet visits seems to go up exponentially **sigh**

She had some chopped off too, but the vet does not want to do it any more since she getting older and got the heart problem, but he says they is all benign.
