Thunder on Tuesday

It's NOT a collie-flower! It's not a wart!!! So WHAT is it?

Thunder here. Today I took a trip in the sibemobile with the Momster to visit the V-E-T about my ear attachment. Dr. N. was very nice to me and gave me some wonderful tummy rubs and gentle ear scritchies. I thanked him with a kiss. After careful examination, he said it does not exhibit typical wart characteristics. Mom was relieved because she really thought it was going to be part of the papilloma virus that is contagious to other pets. Can you just imagine the garden of cauliflower we could have here if I shared my thingie with Phantom and Ciara? Mom said Phantom already has enough lumps and bumps without adding some collie-flowery ones.

(For some reason I was being rather flashybeast-cooperative today - could have been the yummy salmon chewies she had in her pocket:)

So back to my story. Dr. N. said it is a growth, probably benign and it has a pretty good sized stalk to it. It is most likely going to get bigger, and it is already pretty annoying to have it blocking AND tickling my ear canal, not to mention that it is unsightly. He is also concerned about it bursting and blood and yuck ending up down in my ear and causing even worse problems. So he is going to sedate me and give me a local anesthesia on Thursday and then remove that thing for good. Mom said she has heard those words "probably benign" before and would rather be sure. So the mass will be sent out for a biopsy, but we really don't expect it to be a problem. Just one more way to add green papers to the bill.

I thought I would throw this special shot in just for my girl Kat, in case she is looking in on me.

Yes, I am smiling here. One good thing about this experience is that I will get to have a Pest-less night because the Momster is going to drop me off late tomorrow afternoon at the clinic. That way she doesn't have to deal with the no food in the morning issue -

WHAT DID I JUST SAY???? No breakfast??? I don't think I knew about that part. Hmmmm, a night without Ciara or a foodless morning? Decisions, decisions. . .

In closing, we all want to let you know that we will be lap-topless (BOL) for a few days. We aren't sure why, but the Momster says we can tell you about it next week. We are going to be doing a few posts in advance, but we may not be able to do a lot of visiting after Thursday. There may
not be an update on TD's procedure unless there is a problem.

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  2. Thunder, the collie flower hasn't affected your good lucks or photgenic personality, AT ALL! I'm sure your trip to the V-E-T will be rewarded with extra treats at the end of the day, probably more than worth missing breakfast!

It sure was nice of the OP Pack to cooperate for such good pictures!

  3. I hope all goes well with your thingy-removal. I have surgery next month for some lump removals that will be sent to the lab, but they'll have to put me "to sleep" for a while (I hate that - last time that happened I woke up missing 5 teeth) and mommy will be a nervous wreck - again (as will I this time.)

Much love and all the best,
from your pal Gizzy and his mommy!

  16. Did you know there's a Dr. Seuss book called "Daisy Head Maisy"? It's about a little girl who suddenly one day has a flower growing out of her head. I dunno why but I keep thinking abouts that every time I hear abouts the thing growing outta your ear.

I'm sorry about you not getting any breakfast! That's KER-AZY! But if that means you gets that flower out of your ear, I guess it's worth it.

I hope you all are still able to come by and leave a comment on my bloggie on Thursday.

  17. I'm sure you and Mom will both be glad to get rid of that thing. I usually have things that are removed sent to the lab unless the vet can assure me it's not necessary. That way I know for sure what we're dealing with.

Miss Ciara will miss her big brother and we'll miss all three of you till you come back online.

  18. Good luck. I'm sure everything will be fine. It really sounds like it's just a nuisance thing.

    I think I need a lie down.

  19. You know, I'm not sure if we've ever told you how stunning and charming you three look.

"Probably benign" sounds good to me. Emma had a mouth full of those things taken out and they all turned out benign, and we hope for the same results for Thunder!

    Luv,
    Kat

PS. Please tell your mom that we all have fingers and paws crossed that probably benign means definitely benign and that if your mom needs any moral support, she knows where to find it... US!
