See, I can be sweet too. Here I am just resting with my stuffy.

(Gotta love those ears.)

Yes, my paws ARE still red. But TD's paws are red too. AND Phantom's left ear is pinky red from when he lies in the mulch. Red furs is just what happens when the Dadster insists on having that Sedona Red mulch instead of some nice dirt-colored stuff. Thunder and I were NOT digging in the mulch. We were just outside, sniffing for intruders, and making sure the workers didn't miss any spots. Unfortunately we have had 8 days of some sort of precipitation. Wet new red mulch
= red paws.

Now many of you have been worried about the beautiful white carpet. The carpet was actually just cleaned about two weeks ago. The carpet cleaner man said that the carpet is really starting to show some wear and didn't clean up as well this time. The carpet is about 10 years old now. It is in the great room or family room and gets tons of traffic. Five of the six grandbipeds are here a LOT, and the oldest just turned 7. So that means the carpet has endured seven years of burpy, spitty babies, crawling babies, sippy cup spills, crumbs, little feet running all around, lots and lots of toys and playtime, not to mention the three of us, and of course Mom and Dad.

The only way into the house from the backyard is through the door to the deck unless we go through the gate, around the side of the house, and in through the garage directly to the kitchen. That really doesn't work very well for the Momster as we like to go in and out frequently.

As you come in the door to the deck, there is about a three foot wide buffer of hardwood floor that runs right next to that white carpet; you have probably seen in in our photos. There is NO way for the three of us to come in that door and NOT step on the carpet. So all the time, there is a plastic runner that runs along the carpet next to the hardwood floor. For the most part, it saves the carpet from our feet. But with all the mud in the yard, and now the red mulch (it will stop bleeding once it gets dry again), the Momster now puts a bunch of quilts and small throw rugs along that whole pathway. Here is a very short video to show you how hard we try to keep that rug clean for Mom.

Yes, we ALL went right into the kitchen and you could probably hear the gate latch. 99.9999999% of the time, we all do listen to the Momster. If we are super wet or dirty, she brings us in one at a time. We really do try to cooperate, even the Pest.

BUT once we are dry, white carpet, HERE WE COME!!! We all do have a responsibility to keep watch over our kingdom out there. Thunder, stop cleaning your paws and help us check the perimeter.

What do you mean, Mom? We can't go out? We just came in? Well, that's what we do! You can just get the towels ready to clean us off again - we know how much you enjoy THAT!

Finally, night has fallen, and we are ready to stay inside.

Happy Friday to all!

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  4. Impressive!!! You 3 are very well behaved in that video... Looks like you do a good job of helping Mom keep the carpet clean as it can be. We have some things on the floor at our place too when it is wet outside.

  5. Your ingenuity is truly mind boggling. I don't do carpets, either. I love how the Woos head right for the kitchen!
Oh! and I didn't think you were digging in the mulch, Ciara! I figured you and Thunder were gardening!

  6. Since you brought it up I can say that I've always wondered how you manage to keep white carpet clean with 12 paws running in and out. I know it's tough because we have 24 paws and greyish carpet. I think you do a great job. One thing I do is whenever I'm in town AND think of it, I go by the carpet store and offer to buy any scraps they have. They are always happy to let me get whatever they can't use and I give them $5 or $10 depending on how much I get. He knows that my dream is to cover my carpeted area in laminate wood flooring some day so he'll get that business too! Wow, I've written a parable,,,have a great weekend from all of us in the holler.

  8. You are by far a better paw wiper than I am! We have a light brown carpet and I find it so hard to keep clean! Hats off to you for keeping the white carpet in such good condition!

(I have to go buy a new comforter for our bed, because I decided to use it as a rug for the floors:)

  10. Yeah, wassup with that? The mom gets us all clean and dry and then we want out again and she says no coz we woz just out and she just cleaned us up. So wot we do is just wait until she gets bizzy with something then bonk at the door and she just automatically opens the door coz her mind be elsewhere then she say "How did all of you get outside again?" We love messing with mom like that and it werks efurry time.

  12. Woo are all so good!! We're TRYING to ruin the carpet more so mom can get new carpet!! Just kidding - but our kitchen floor is where we come in from the back and when it rains the kitchen looks alot like your quilted/toweled area. Have a wonderful, clean weekend!!

  13. What good doggies you are to help with the carpet, but it's unacceptable if you need to be outside and the door doesn't get opened every time! My mom person does the same thing. How can we keep them safe if we can go in & out at will?

  22. I often wondered how you keep that nice looking white carpet white! It looks great! I do recognize the "wet day" path of rugs & towels - we do that here too! We had beige carpet and just recently pulled it up and put down hardwood floors (causing the Sibe babies to "skate" a lot! They have finally learned to walk or run a bit more carefully on the new floor!) We have big baby gates too! They are a blessing on muddy rainy days. Your babies are so beautiful and your rug looks amazing for 10 years! See...Sibes are not always destructive! I think they get a bad rap, really...

Oh, and Ciara, do I see mischief in those beautiful eyes?!!!

    Happy Friday!

  23. I know it's a lot of work to keep the carpet clean, but that's the price you pay for having pretty, white carpet... I remember those days! I now have vinyl floor and that works just fine for me...

I love the way your three beauties just went straight into the kitchen - very well trained. That's nice!

You guys sure look very photogenic on that carpet because you too look so fluffy and clean...

    Love,

  25. That carpet still looks so clean. We have a dark green carpet that usually has a brown tinge....must be our skirts, we're always draggin' stuff in. Luckily, the guy next door is a carpet cleaner and he give us a special price.

  33. This goes back to my Hope Springs Eternal post. When I come in from out of doors, I run straight for the kitchen and check my bowl, first wiping my feets on the mud brown carpet in the utility room. I bet every dog goes from outside to in just to check their bowl. See if its not true!

I hope that the weather dries out soon. We've been getting a little snow almost every day here too.

  37. We come thru the garage to get into the house. The basement room off the garage has light carpeting, too. Dad does the same thing your Momster does. We have a carpet runner and two quilts on the garage floor that we walk over. If we're really wet or muddy Mom makes us dance in the garage. We run back and forth and spin till we don't leave prints anymore. Mom says she's going to have the basement room tiled so it cleans easier.

anywho, your mama's carpet looks grrreat for bein' 10 years old! my mama's wants to know who your mama hires to clean it? mama's been tryin' to decide if she should buy her own carpet cleaner or just hire the pro peeps.

  44. Da white carpet still looks so good cause you listen so well. Wouldn't work at our house. But Mum is happy cause we don't have any mudd.....jus sand.....and dat is easy to clean away once it dries. Our carpet is almost 20 years old (still da original from when da house was built). So it's purrty worn out anyway.
