Siblings on Saturday

By now, most of you know that Thunder and Ciara are half-brother and half-sister, sharing the same father. And so it is not unusual for us to find them together like this a lot.

But in our home, all canine residents are considered siblings. So today we thought we would show you the interaction between another set of siblings.

Phantom has always tolerated Ciara, but he has always kept her at bay as far as closeness goes. You also know that Ciara is very strong-willed and likes to get her way. It has taken a while but as you can see below, she has succeeded in winning over Phantom.

Phantom: I am keeping my eye on you. You stay on your blanket and I will be right here on the floor.

Ciara: You can't fool me, Phantom, I can feel your toesies touching my toesies. And part of you is on my blanket.

Phantom: Stop looking at me, Pest. This one is MY blanket.

Ciara: Are you sure it is your blanket, Phantom? What is that saying about possession being 9/10ths of the law. Seems to me I am possessing a bit more of it than you. Does that mean you are trying to get closer to me?

The Compromise

Phantom: Half on, half off, just don't look at me.

Ciara: Don't worry, I still have my other brother:)

Ciara: So there, Phantom.

Tucker the Harlequin Great Dane from Maine is having a contest- Dogya!!! Here is Thunder's entry.

The Downward Facing Dog
Adhomukha Svanasana

The downward yoga pose is named as such as it resembles the shape of a Dog stretching itself out. This pose helps to strengthen, stretch and reduce stiffness in the legs while strengthening and shaping the upper body.

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  4. Hi guys, we can see Ciara has lots of charm!
We have to compromise in this house too - Bailey is not the cuddly snuggly type and likes her own space - she really is not into sharing!
Thanks for stopping by - we are missing all of our blogging buddies and trying to stop by now and again.
We may do the odd update in the future blogwise but for now are enjoying this 'no pressure' style of blogging!
    Take care

  5. I saw it coming, I did!! Ciara is too adorable for any pup to resist! Go ahead and deny it, Phantom, but you won't be able to fight her charm for long! Hehehe.

Great dogya entry, Thunder! Very niceee.

  8. Yup, a respectful distance. That is how little Dex is with Mango. They like each other, but not total snuggle buddies.

  9. Sis used to do that with Mugsy - our now-departed very alpha male Jack Russell. She'd somehow know whether it was a time to just strut her puppy self up and snuggle or whether she needed to ease into it, inch by inch...

  10. Downward Facing dog is one of our favorites too. I also do a pretty good Three Legged Dog! And me and Teka share things, sometimes, but not without some nipped ears for me.

We still don't know how that white carpet manages to look so good, but thank you for the tips.

(do you know how hoomiliated the muzzer is for missing the last post....hahah)

  11. Ciara and Phantom seem to get along a bit like myself and "IT" to be tolerated - especially at a distance. But you guys still look so cute trying NOT to share the blanket.

  12. Aloof can be fun, too, Phantom - Queen Natasha.

  13. How sweet. Phantom is to cute. He sounds a lot like Starr. He will not admit he really likes the younger one in the house. :)

  14. Progress. That's the main thing. To tell the truth, Franklin and I don't really snuggle either. We love each other, even though he is something of a pest sometimes, too, but we save our snuggles for the peoples. It's just the way we are. We to share licks sometimes, however.

  15. I have learned this semester in Property that the law allows someone to claim ownership of something if they openly possess it and the true owner doesn't put a stop to it. It looks to me like Ciara is making a play at all the blankets in the house!

I try to make sure that I am always with Mom, preferably touching her, so that Steve can't make a claim of ownership over her.

Compromise is good, but they're wasting a lot of good blanket space. :)

  29. Here Tsar is the only one that gets to have his space. The others respect it or he makes cat noises and hisses at them. As for everyone else they use each other as pillows. It's like a puppy pile.

  35. A long time ago, we had a pair of littermates who we adopted at the same time. It was uncanny how they mirrored each other, like Thunder and Ciara do. We've never had another pair of dogs who were such complete soulmates as those two were.

I love the series with Ciara and Phantom. I do think that Phantom is starting to like her, just a tiny bit!

  36. We love watching another family going through this beautiful period of adjustment and acceptance! Give us hope and makes us smile at the persistence of love. Thanks.

  37. That so reminded us of Arty and Scylla when Arty first came to live here. And now it reminds of us Arty and .............Fenris. She is perfectly willing to lay next to him as long as he is STILL.

  38. Ciara knows that it's all about small victories. I love the touching toesies picture!
