Up on the Rooftop

What have we here? Our driveway has been invaded by some strange stuff.

Yep, we are getting a new roof. A big hailstorm did enough damage to our wood shakes in April that the insurance company said we can get a new one. How lucky could we be since we were going to be needing a new one very soon! Mom is thrilled because we can now get a composite roof instead of those wood shakes - and that means so long to the silly silverfish.

Work should begin in a week. We are going to let you in on a secret. We heard the Dad and the Mom talking about that "no-sibe barricade" that the Momster put up in May. It has to come down while the roofers are working - and that means WE (that would be TD and Ciara) will once again be able to explore those beds for bunnies. We can't wait.

  8. And don't forget that bunnies live in holes so you might need to do a bit digging to make sure you find them all. How cool you are getting a new roof.

  9. Hi Op Pack,
I want to thank-you so much for coming to my blog and saying kind words to me when I lost Bambi. It has been such a hard thing on me. She was fine and then in just a day she wasn't. People are saying it was her time and they and you were so right. I wish it not be so but I couldn't do anything to keep her here.
I will celebrate her life with me for a long while!!
    Thanks, Fern

  23. OH,,,the noise. The roof, roofers and the barking below. That's how I'm picturing it if that were happening to us. Of course, you get the prize of having a new roof and they get to check out the flower bed!! At least there is a bright side.

  24. Oh no Phantom, the first thing I thought of is you! They will probably be using nailguns and making very loud noises with those nailguns. I know you would be very terrified. I was very terrified when our roof was done. Mom actually had to take me out of the house to go to work wif her.

  25. How exciting on the new roof! It'll be fun watching those workers and especially exploring for bunnies! Make sure those roofers keep their nails out of the bunny bed! Phantom, we hope you'll be okay with all that noise.

  26. Watch out, Phantom, we got a new roof last year and those guys make a LOT of noise. Some of us had to hide in the basement till they were done.

  33. A new roof sounds like a VERY good thing, although the WDA would not like all those workmen around and on the roof! Glad to hear the you will at least be able to go a bunny safari to keep yourselves occupied!

Do you guys have to guard that stuff on the driveway until next week?

  34. Congratulations! It's nice when you feel like you can finally justify that insurance payment :)

So we share the same last name! (maiden for you)
This is pretty cool - maybe somehow we are related if we go back far enough. My Dad's family was from Boston and before that from County Sligo and County Cork (I think) in Ireland...

  42. I'm sorry you have to get a new roof but I'm glad that insurance is going to cover it.

That's one of my fears, worrying about something happening to the house and not knowing what to do to take care of it. Hopefully I won't have to worry about the roof for awhile. I remember when I bought it, the lender required a roof inspection and the inspector dude said it'd be good for at least the 10 years the lender required. Only been here 8 years so I'm good to go for another 2, at least! Hopefully, anyways!

If all that stuff was in my driveway, Chico would pee on it. He thinks he has to mark everything.

Good luck with the new roof. I hope the installation doesn't interrupt your naps!
