Friday Funnies/Saturday Sillies

Late posting today - hence the title.

Ciara here. Here I am practicing my sleeping pose.

I have been trying to teach the little bipeds the best way to get comfy in order to fall soundly asleep.

I think I have done a pretty good job with the boy twin J. What do you think? Scroll down for a look.

Isn't that the cutest thing? He had just gotten home after the airplane ride home after a week at the beach in Florida. Guess he was pretty tired. Maybe I need to work on that hanging the head down part.

Thunder here now, my sister has the silliest notions sometimes. Mom said I could post this photo of me so you could see how nice I look after all that brushing she did. Remember all that fur in my Fur-Days with Thunder post HERE?

Well, I got to thinking today about all that fur. Wyatt was telling us here about how he has succeeded in growing a tennis ball plant. And Frankie Furter has a Milkbone Tree. I know I tried unsuccessfully to grow a stuffie tree a few years ago - you can read about it HERE. I haven't given up hope about it yet, but I am working on a new idea. I am planning to do something really special with all that fur. Many of you have given me lots of ideas about making a hat for Mom, or a Christmas ornament, or using it to stuff a quilt. Those are all great ideas, and I might try them. But I am working on another project - stay tuned and I will tell you more in a while.

Woos, Thunder and Ciara

  1. Great training, Ciara! You sleep like my brother, YoYoMa!

Thunder, you look so much sleeker since the comb-out! We cannot wait to see what you come up with for all that floof. Momma had an ornament stuffed with my fur and dad's mom used to spin her neighbor's great Pyr fur (grandma was a fiber artist)!

  5. The little peep learns quickly! Too cute!

Can't wait to see the idea...I saw a great idea about three women who spin the fur, and then make it into all kinds of great things, including small stuffed animals...I want 3 Labs...Heavens knows, I've got the fun to spare!
May I send Zack over for some brushing now? He is really my worse shedder...

  7. Wow, what a Blogville project that could be: collect all the excess furs and do something useful with it. Jed may not be quite in your class, but he's a pretty heavy shedder. Bet Blogville could generate enough floof to blanket a small country. Maybe even a big one. Jed prefers our AC vents in the floor, where he can lie directly on them. Your wall mounted versions are bound to be more sanitary.

  10. Hey Ciara - when you are finished teaching your bipeds about the best sleeping positions, maybe you could pop over here and give my sister some lessons. She has decided she doesn't like sleeping anymore (no more naps, wanting to stay up later and later, etc.).

    Your pal, Pip

  26. Ciara, soon that will become an Olympic sport, with humans competing to see who can come up with the best form, but they'll never top us dogs!

Thunder, you look great after all that brushing! I am quite curious to see what you come up with to use all your floof for. Is it toupees for poor, bald-butted Greyhounds?

  36. My cousin makes yarn out of dog hair. Here's a blurb from her website: Dog hair fiber is sometimes called 'chiengora'. (from the French 'chien' meaning dog, and 'gora' meaning extremely-warm-hair. Or something like that.) Dog hair yarn does not have a dog odor, it doesn't shed*, and it is very warm. It's great for making hats, mittens, and scarves, or adding a unique accent to any handmade project.
*OK, it sheds like a cheap angora sweater a little.

She spins it! Thought you'd like to hear this!!
