Thankful on Thursday

A couple of us have reason to be thankful today.

Phantom is very grateful for a sunny day and a warm sunpuddle to enjoy a nice long nap.

OK, Mom - I AM thankful to be home. I am thankful you came and rescued me. I am thankful to be back with my pack. BUT do you really think I am going to be thankful for THIS??? And I can't believe you think I am going to wear a lampshade on my head for TWO WEEKS!!! Some of my cellmates at that vet prison told me it makes a very good ramming weapon - no, that isn't meant to be a threat.

I must admit I am a bit worn out, maybe I will just rest here a while and take a snooze like my big brother Phantom.

The Momster here - yes, Lightning is home and he is NOT a happy camper at all. It is no surprise that he doesn't like his new headgear. Phantom has been kind enough to let him borrow his Comfy Cone. I will be switching the plastic cone (truly a deadly weapon to the legs) and moving the little guy to the more comfortable Comfy Cone once he wakes up. Hopefully it will fit inside the crate for bedtime. Lightning did very well at the vet's. Everyone loved him. They told me he greeted them this morning with a very big wooing song. I didn't have the heart to tell them that he was just letting them know that he wanted his breakfast and he wanted it NOW. Since the patient is now in a deep sleep, I will express his thanks to all for the good wishes and thoughts from yesterday's post.

Woos ~ Phantom, Lightning, and the Momster

  1. We all hate those plastic hats because of the pain they inflict. You might think about a no-bite collar. They don't work if the injury is to the front legs but for anything else they keep the head and neck from turning and my dogs say they're more comfy than the cones.

  2. Glad you're going into a softer collar. Buddy did some damage to his neck trying to get his hard cone off. :(

  5. Glad to hear there's so much to be thankful for! I'm sure Lightning will be much happier with the soft cone rather than the cone of death! Ouch, those things do hurt when used as a battering ram!

  15. Sun puddles are the best - although I must admit we have been enjoying the nice cold temps outside today. Lightening looks so unhappy with his hoody - why does he have to wear it for two weeks?

  16. Glad you found that sunpuddle, Phantom!

Oh Lightning, those cones are very, very annoying, but it sounds like your nice Mom ha a more pleasant alternative in store for you.

  24. So glad you made in thru Lightning and are home safe. Dude, what kind of stuff did they give you over there that you came home with a lampshade on your head??? :)

  25. You better save that cone fur the momster - sounds like she gonna be needing it. (I is reading bloggies in backwards order.)

  26. So happy the Lightning is home and resting. I tend to think of the cone as good training. It's going to happen, and it teaches you good coping skills.

I'm not well with change, but I will lift my head willingly to fit through the cone. I learned early that it's not punishment. It's just a thing.

    Hope that helps.

    With love from the Bleu

  27. Been there, done that! I had a soft cone too, but when I managed to take that off, mommy put the hard one on (but only when she wasn't around to watch me). Hope you heal fast! :)

  31. Bokeh here...just want to say I feel your pain my friend. I had my big boy surgery just awhile ago and had to wear that same darn cone. Yuck! Hang in there buddy.

  32. Yeah, those cones suck. I hope the soft one works better.

I know Phantom loved that sunpuddle. You can never have too many, especially in November.
