Look what some pup found in the yard last night!
Could that be a cousin to Tony the Turtle, Thunder's friend? |
Here is a closer look after the Momster came and removed it:(
Uh, he doesn't seem to have much life in him:( |
Mom thinks that the poor little guy must have been hit by one of the lawnmowers mowing our lawn yesterday. Then "some" pup found him and had a lot of fun rolling all over him, picking him up in the mouth, then immediately tossing him down, not letting any other OP pup near the treasure to the point of chasing them away.
And as if the turtle wasn't enough wildlife for one family, look what was discovered today AND by a different pup!!!
Now we are sure you are wondering which pup had the turtle and which one had the snake. We are also sure that those of you who have been following us for a while have one particular pup in mind for both. And our newer followers might have another one as a pawsibility.
Sure, go ahead, blame it all on me. I know you want to, just because I am the youngest, the least mature, the one called the Resident Pest, a.k.a. Lightning. I don't really know much about either turtles and snakes. After all, I am just a young lad. BUT if they are chewy, I am ready to give them a test taste.
For sure you are NOT entertaining thoughts that it could be me, the quiet, reserved, elder canine citizen of the Pack. But as the Momster always says, you have to watch out for the "quiet" ones. So I, Phantom, will leave you guessing for a bit.
Surely not ME! |
Heh, heh, heh - don't you just love my coy smirk! Now seriously, as the Princess of the Pack, do you honestly think that I, Ciara, would even dream of letting a turtle or snake touch my sweet lips???
OK, OK, OK - you longtime readers know my history with Tony the Turtle and Sammy the Snake. I, Thunder, think that you have placed all your biscuits down as a bet on me being the culprit.
And now for the big reveals:
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
Yep, it was me - fooled ya, didn't I? I had so much fun with this little turtle. I rolled all over him and tried to pick him up in my mouth, but the girly girl in me said no way. I guarded my treasure and chased TD and Lightning away whenever they tried to come near to get a sniff. Phantom just gave me the look that told me what he thought of my prize.
And the snake???
What snake??? I don't see a snake!!! Uh, what IS a snake???
Don't worry, pals. I rolled so much on this guy that there was no chance he would bite me. As the little bipeds told Mom, he is covered in white fur:) And yeppers, he is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD. The only problem is that Thunder Dunder forgot to show me how to flip him in the air like he can do. So much for a young lad to learn.
WHAT??? |
Now be honest, did you really think it could have been ME?
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

Puddles
Fun times with the outdoor critters!! Have a great weekend too!
ReplyDeleteWe once pulled Mom down after seeing a turtle on our run. She had to hang onto a tree for dear life. The turtle we saw was bigger than a plate and had snappers, so Mom really didn't want us to get near it. Luckily for her, she won and we lost.
ReplyDeleteMom says stay awake from snakes. They are scary.
Steve
Okays I obviously don't knows how to type today...ignore ALL my typos.

I was placing my bets on Ciara and Lightning and I was not disappointed! Mom says Lightning is welcome to come here and kill snakes anytime he likes!

You sure got exciting critters in your yard and I thought I had excitement chasing the bugs.. Loved all the pics today.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteMom told me that if I ever find one of those slithery things, she will DIE, then resurrect herself long enough to kill me and DIE again. I am absolutely forbidden from touching them. Makes it really hard to resist, but I'm trying 'cause she's really scared!
ReplyDeleteMOL MOL MOL
ReplyDelete1st things first...Woos with tuna always get an audience and I share my desserts.

OMD, I would totally freak out if I found a snake in my yard!
ReplyDeleteThe turtle though, that's a different story!
We sort of thought Ciara would be involved...us being princessess, too, we know about our wilder sides!
ReplyDeleteBut we weren't too sure about the snake.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
The turtle could be my friend Murphy. But he is at the ocean- or he was.

ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
A turtle AND a snake?? Sounds like Sibe torture party!! We are so jealous!! All that stinky to roll around on...you guys are so lucky!!
ReplyDeleteThe Phantom is just too smart to fool with those wet critters. I must say I did blame the snake on TD knowing he is partial to them.
ReplyDeleteBut our Dainty Little Girl and the turtle, no way! lolol
Kisses,
Stella

Oh that's so interesting and exciting! Princess Ciara, how I wish I could be there play the tossing games with you! Was that fellow hard?
ReplyDeleteI always find some snails in my yard but my humans always say "NO" whenever I go near them : (
For the snakes! Ewwwww!!!
Oh Ciara! I am impressed! And Lightning, you go boy! woo woo woo!
ReplyDeleteThis was really funny. We were laughing but mom laughed the LOUDEST! Boy, she can be annoying...
ReplyDeleteMocha Barney, Ashley Pumpernickel and Winniechurchill
Loved this post! Rob found a snake in our yard last week. Fortunately the dogs were preoccupied on the other side of the yard.
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of turtles, we have three turtle dogs. Bailey keeps an eye on anything that moves in the yard, but so far she only sniffs and watches turtles. Morgan picks them up and brings them to me. Tsar plays with the little ones, much s Ciara does. The big ones he tries to sneak into the house so he can examine them at his leisure. He likes to bring in bugs and disassemble them on the carpet and I'm sure he wants to do the same with turtles.
Oh boy, both of those look like a lot of fun to play with. I don't blame you guys one bit!
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
That's a lot of work - wowzers, we never saw a live turtle to snag and play with - good job! (We thought it was Thunder too...) Well, you learn something new every day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a riot! Just love this post!
xoxo
Sammie and Avalon
Wow! That's a lot of wildlife!
ReplyDeleteGood job guys on the finds. Not sure of the species of turtle, but that dead snake is a harmless garter snake. They do bite, but they are not venomous thankfully!
Haha, Lightning. You're one up on me. I didn't flip the snakes we saw up in the air, but we've had cats that used to do that! Not that I'm saying you're a cat or anything.....
ReplyDeleteJUST KIDDIN'!!
Your pal, Sage
Wowza, poor little turtle and thank goodness the snake was dead. Are they poisonous?? We know its small, but here in Oz a baby brown snake 30 cm long (12 inches) has the venom to kill 22 adults. Yikes. Glad you are all ok. We think your mum should get you all more toys. Yes you all deserve them right? Hope your weekend is great. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeletethat kind of looks like a baby snapping turtle to me......probably a good thing the lawn mower got it - I hear they are not very nice. Was that a garter snake....I think they are safe to be around....but better not to trust any snake I think
ReplyDeleteO hai! I sorry the little turtle didn't make it. U are very brave to battle the scary snake. :)
ReplyDeleteWho hoo..you had us guessing! Looks like you had a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Big Nose Pokes
The Thugletsx

Well you all had a wild Friday! That's gotta be the tiniest turtle I've ever seen! Baby snapping turtle? Now rollin on a snake...sendin shivers up my spine! :O
ReplyDeleteWaggin at ya,
Roo
You might be hard pushed to find a turtle in our frog pond. But anything is possible. Pleased I never had the blame. I normally blame it on the cat !
ReplyDeleteluvs Freya Rose Blossom X
I'm so sorry that the turtle went through so much trauma before he passed away, poor thing.
ReplyDeleteOne time I was walking a very large dog and up ahead of us was a snapping turtle. Needless to say, the dog tried to rush towards it but luckily I was able to stop him. Good thing I did stop him b/c the turtle was a snapping turtle!
A turtle I could handle...a snake??? NO WAY! EEEKEEE
ReplyDeleteMy God - are you sure you guys don't have a Zoo Reptile House in your garden??!! :-)
ReplyDeletePoor little turtle...Hsin-Yi used to have tiny little ones like that as pets when she was a toddler back in Taiwan - they were very popular!
