Testing on Tuesday

Some of our longtime readers may remember this photo from two years ago when Ciara was about 6 or 7 months old.  We had quite the challenge getting her to leave any potted flowers alone.  She seems to have come a long way with the potted flowers, but she could use a lot more improvement in the garden.

Now she is passing the torch to Lightning.  Will he pass the test?

So far, three days and they are untouched.  Mom is wondering if she still needs to hold her breath:)

  2. I hope he continues to leave them alone. My parents had a dog several years ago who ate several of my mom's potted plants and died because of it. The really sad part is that she was just a puppy.

  8. Ah the potted plant monsters......we have those two - MOM was livid and turning all shades of red when she saw the monsters had 'pruned' her gardenia plants - she had nurtured it all winter and it was huge! She was hoping for masses of flowers instead she got masses of twigs! And those monsters - they let you go months thinking they have left and then suddenly = they are BAAACCCKKKKK

  17. Oh, it took a second look at the picture for me to see Ciara in the back. She's saying "I wouldn't do that if I was you."

  18. You can do it Lightening! I know it is tough, and oh sooooo tempting, but be strong! Only girl dogs mess with flowers. BOL! :->

  20. Happy Paws to you today! Great job on leaving plants alone; Hunter is starting to investigate mine. There are plenty of other fun things to look for, so for your mom's sake leave the pretties alone.
    Have a great day.

  21. Well, if Lightning and Boris are alike, your mom had better watch out. I think they have some ornery bones or something!

  22. You can do it, Lightning!!!

Go Lightning, Go! And if you get tempted with Mom's uber pretty garden, remember... "I leave them alone to get my treats."

Repeat after me, "I leave them alone to get my treats."

And if this doesn't stop you... say, "Oh what the heck, it's too pretty to go to waste." and muster your cutest most adorable doggy curl. Don't forget to practice having sparkly eyes, okay?

  26. Dear, BE, TD, PS, and F,
FYI MOMS (all of them) have eyes in the back of their head......so a word of advice...back away from the potted plants unless you want trouble with a capital T.

  31. Don't mom's ALWAYS hold their breath? Sending White Dog discipline and self-control to YOUR white one!

YoYoMa is our biggest boy in height and build. As a Standard Eskie he should be about 35 lbs. max. He clocked in at 41lbs yesterday. The goal is to try for a pound a month...Dr. Julia says that is rigorous but doable especially since he likes veggies to start with. So the plan is more walking activity (free self directed play in the yard isn't enough) and switching to a diet more heavily based on good mixed vegetables. Momma laughed when you called Yo a "small dog" I guess it is all in the perspective!

  44. I used to have a rotten that would get so mad at me when I left her! She knew I loved to garden and she would knock over all my pots and gingerly pull all the plants out of the pots in tact to desiccate in the hot sun! I finally started placing her turds in the pots... It took a few weeks but she never did it again!

  45. So much temptation! I've always found that my girls were more stubborn and harder to train than my boys.
