Manic Monday?

A conversation between Lightning and the Momster

Lightning:  Are you calling me a maniac, Mom?

Mom:  No, but sometimes your behavior borders a bit on being manic.

Lightning:  I don't know what you are talking about.

Mom:  Well, here is an example - why are you hiding in the back hall?

Lighting:  I am just trying to get away from that scary noise.

Mom:  What noise:  I don't hear anything.

Lightning:  Listen, there it is again - it sounds like someone is tapping on a glass.

Mom:  No, silly.  That is just a text coming in for me on my phone.

Lightning:  Are you sure?  Yesterday it sounded like a ding ding.

Mom:  That's because I had to change the text tone to accommodate you.   And I think I have changed it at least six times trying to find one that suits you.

Lightning:  Well, I don't like those sounds.  They make
 me want to hide.

Mom:  Maybe you will feel better if I turn the light on in here for you.  Here, let's see if this helps.

Lightning:  No, that doesn't help at all. Can't you just stop the texts?

Mom:  But then how will I get my messages?

Lightning:  Sheesh, you seem to have an answer for everything, but nothing that helps me.

Mom:  Would it make you feel better if I gave you a treat?

Lightning:  Treat?????  Well, if you insist, I can come out for something tasty, but you would please turn off the phone for the rest of the day?

Mom thinks I am quirky.  Are any of you bothered by strange noises that seem to sound off at all times of the day (and sometimes the night)?

I think I will just lie here with my sister and try to relax.

Woos, Lightning

  1. Poor boy! Nope, no noises really bother me. Fireworks do sometimes, but not all the time.

  3. I must say most sound do not bother me nowadays as my hearing isn't as good as it used to be. But my nose still works perfectly so Mommy can't sneak any treat past me! ;)

Maybe Momster needs to record YOUR woo and use that as her text tone?

  7. Don't feel bad Lightning. Morgan is afraid of the beep that Mom's electronic sewing machine makes. It's just a little ding dong noise but she goes nuts and tries to climb the walls. Mom has to put her in a different room and turn on loud music before she can sew.

  8. Hi Y'all!

I don't like people ringing the doorbell or knockin'! I try to scare them away by growling, barking loudly and jumpin' on the door! The funny thing is that it makes the Humans angry with me...

    Y'all come by now,

  13. Hey Lightning,

I only pay attention to loud noises like thunder or fireworks. But my Mom, she is deaf and gets tinntitus. Imaginary sounds. Like
ringing, blowing, roaring, buzzing, hissing, humming, whistling, or sizzling. She looks at me and says, "Do you hear that noise, Stella" and I gotta say no!

My Mom says, you gotta get used to it!

    Kisses,
    Stella

  29. I hate it whenever the doorbell rings on the TV. Momma tells us "it's just the TV!" and we feel pretty silly for barking. Siiiiiigh.

  30. Arwooo Lightning....I get worried over any noise I have not heard before. I feel your fear furriend

  31. I consider myself fortunate that none of my three have storm or firework anxiety. If something sounds like a knock on the door, than everyone goes nuts, wanting to know who is here.

  32. Shiver is very nervous about strange noises. He also stresses out whenever there's something different going on that he's not used to. It could be something as simple as moving furniture around in a room, and he gets upset and tries to hide.

  33. OH NO! I'm only afraid of the road drains. EEK! Those things are terrifying!

Well, and our friends are storing some stuff in our yard until they move on Sat and their grill looked like a huge Sibe eating monster for several days. I just would NOT go outside. How rude of my humans to expect me to walk into such a dangerous situation!

  34. I am very afraid of fireworks and sometimes thunder but never the phone. However if being afraid of the phone gets me treats, I might feel an anxiety coming on.
