Worrisome Wednesday

Sweet Ciara - unfortunately it wasn't a one time only seizure. She had another one last night right before midnight.  Pretty much the same duration and intensity as the one on December 18th.

And then again at 10:40 a.m. today, the evil monster struck again less than 11 hours later.  I am now waiting to hear back from the vet, but I suspect we will be visiting the neurologist for an evaluation.   I had a suspicion all day yesterday that all was not well.  She was just "off", only way I can describe it.

Ciara here, I at least got my table spot back, but now Mom is watching me like a hawk.  She even put this blankie down because some not-so-nice things happen to me when the seizure hits.  I don't remember much about what happened, but Mom and Lightning tell me it was very scary.  I hope I am going to be OK.

Woos - Ciara and Mom

  1. Firstly can I say that I am sorry to have been remiss and missed what had happened before. I am so sorry to hear that your sweet girl is not doing good. It must be sorry worrying both to see it happening and not know why. I send virtual hugs to you and I pray that the vet will be able to diagnose and help. xx

  5. Dear Ciara and the Momster, sorry to hear this issue has hung around. We popped in especially to see how you were doing. I've been dealing with a slight health issue myself (nothing serious, just something that may need to be addressed) and it's triggered my hooman's own issues. Hopefully she can blog about it sometime, I don't really understand what's been going on. Boy are hoomans weird. Anyway, here's hoping the vet has some ideas for you. Oh, and we send hugs to your Momster, we know this must be very difficult for her.

  9. Ciara we have our paws crossed that the S.M. will NOT come back.

It seems that your mom has some GOOD instincts and can sort of SENSE when thingys are not going right. THAT is a GOOD thingy.
It helps her to be prepared to deal with the thingy.

  26. Dear Sweet Ciara - we've been meaning to drop you a note. We used to have a brother (before we started blogging) who had epilepsy. His seizures were very scary to watch, too, but he started taking phenobarbital and BAM - way, way less seizures. Our mom takes pheno, too, and has for MANY years. Very few side effects. Drowsiness is one. Buddy got over it and mom just drinks a lot of coffee!! Please don't be scared. We know you're gonna be OK!

    Your pals,

Regardless, we are sending you tons of wirey kisses and human love and hugs to help relieve a bit of the anxiety.'xxxxx

  37. The first Greyhound who lived here, before I came along, had epilepsy. Mom says it was really scary when it was happening, and hers were pretty bad, but once she started on the right medicine, it made a lot of difference for her. If we can help any, let us know!

  62. We are so sorry to hear this year isn't starting out on a better note. It is no fun as we get older, both 2-legged and 4-legged, and the body parts don't work the way they used to. Quality of life is what we all strive for for our 4-legged kids. We'd keep Phantom on his meds so he'd be more comfortable and not in pain, even though the side effects are not good. Know there's an entire community out here hoping and praying for brighter news. Sending lots of warm fuzzies your way. Linda, Pepper, and Dublin
