Trickery on Thursday

Since it is Thankful Thursday, we want to thank everyone for the wonderful welcome back after our absence.  The trickery below may explain a bit of why we were MIA for so long.

Can you believe the trick Mom played on us (courtesy of our pal Ann of Zoolatry)!!!

The Three Sibeteers???
Seriously, Mom, we are NOT in any way mice!  How silly do we look!!!  But we did appreciate a visit from the famous Mickey Mouse - he stopped by to let us all know that he and his pals would take great care of the family while they were away and WE were left behind.

In June, Mom and Dad treated the WHOLE human family to a fun Disney cruise!!!  All the big kids and the grandkids and Mom and Dad - 14 in all - set sail through the Caribbean for a magical experience.  NO DOGS  ALLOWED!  Harumph to that!  We hear that they had a fantastic time and even spent some extra days in Orlando while our two sweet grandgirls competed in a big national dance competition AND did very well.

And what did we do?  We spent almost two weeks at our "home away from home" - the V.E.T.'s kennel.  It seemed like an eternity to us, but we must admit we were treated quite well. Our vet no longer does boarding, but he made an exception for us because of Phantom and Ciara's medical issues.  Although Lightning doesn't have any medical problems, Mom said maybe he could use a psychological checkup while he was there - not funny, Mom!!!

Overall, we did pretty well.  We received lots and lots of love and attention from everyone. The staff loved to hear us sing to them.  Whenever they took one of us to go outside, the other two of us would croon the best woos we could muster.  We think we might be ready for America's Got Talent.

Our caretakers told Mom that I, Lightning, have come a very long way in overcoming lots of my fears.  I didn't let them know that they might be wrong, because I figured good behavior might get me home faster to my kingdom - I really needed to be sure all of my territory was still in good shape when I finally got home.

Ciara here - I am happy to report that I have managed to stay seizure-free.  Mom says we will do another post to update you on what has been happening with me since my time in the seizure study has ended.

Phantom's turn - I want you all to know that if you really are in need of shedding a few pounds, just spend some time away from home - well, maybe that's not really what I mean.  But I did manage to drop quite a bit of weight while Mom was gone:(  More about that another day.

We are going to try to do a better job of posting, but we really need Mom's help.  She has been very busy.  Here is what a typical weekday looks like for her with the grandbipeds out of school for the summer:

7:15 a.m. - kiddos arrive and have breakfast

8:30 a.m. - get granddaughter #1 to dance for 9:00 and grandson #1 to basketball camp at the same time - how does she manage that one?

10:30 a.m. - get granddaughter #2 to dance for 11:00

11:00 a.m. - squeeze a few errands in before . . .

11:45 a.m. - arrival of grandsons #2 and #3

12: 00 noon  - get grandson #1 at camp

12:15 p.m. - get granddaughter #1 at dance

Home for lunchtime

1:45 p.m. - head to get granddaughter #2 at dance

Playtime with Grandma and then back to their houses for 4:30 p.m.

Now time for dinner and walktime for US!!!

Finally just about time for bed and then repeat:)

So we are trying to cut her a bit of slack, and we are sure you will understand if we don't visit you as much as we would love to do.

Woos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning

  12. Our mommy is a Disney freak so she wishes she was one of your family members! Our Grandpa from Kansas sent our Mommy and Daddy on a cruise to Alaska in June so they were on a ship probably when your mom and dad were! We're glad you are all okay! Yay for Lightning being less scairt, Ciara having no seizures and Phantom doing well and hope you gain some of that weight back handsome boy! Your mom's schedule doesn't include enough naps!

  15. It sounds like you had an incredible vacation with the whole family (except the pups, of course). I'm glad that all three came through their boarding okay (but you better eat some hi cal snacks, Phantom). I'm thrilled about Ciara being seizure free and Lightning is getting braver (so is Shyla!).

I cannot believe that schedule. We understand if you can't visit very often. Heck, I probably wouldn't even survive that schedule!!! You are an amazing Momster and Grandmomster!

  16. Aww, I bet that was a lot of fun for your pawrents and family getting to go on a Disney Cruise! Too bad y'alls didn't get to go too. :( You'd think Disney could make an exception for you three!

I totally get being too busy to post or visit regularly. When school is in session, my days tend to be very long and very busy. I don't have time blog then, and I miss it when I can't. Sometimes life gets in the way.

  21. Hello everyone!
I'm glad you're back and doing well, but what's this I hear?! A disney cruise, with NO DOGS! This is unbelievable, what about Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmations and the Fox and the Hound? How did they get on board? Well, it's good to see you back, and I can't wait to read more of your posts!

  23. We totally disagree with the No Dogs Allowed concept! It's really hard when our humans go away and have no choice but to leave us, but it sounds like you were in exceptionally good hands.

And that schedule looks scary… The cats totally disapprove of the lack of nap time…!

    Woofs,
    Tommy

Seriously, with that daily schedule, you need another cruise (w/o kids)!
So glad all the woofies did well during your away-time, as we worried about them.
Take care friend, before you know it, it'll be "back to school" days, mmm!

So Mickey Mouse kidnapped your family for a while huh? Looks like you had a pretty good time anyway. Sending lots of hugs!

  29. So you guys went on vacation! Phantom, you really need to gain weight, not lose it.

Our Mom says that even without grandkids, the days disappear too fast, so she admires your Mom's energy.

  30. I am so happy to see you all and to know you are all well. The cruise sounds fantastic and with you all together it must have been a brilliant trip. Happy to see you.

  31. Gosh we got tired just reading your Mom's schedule. Mommy remembers having to ferry our boy beans around when they were little and how hectic it was. Lucky for us there are no grandbeans to steal her attention.

The cruise sounds fun, but they should let dogs come too. Phantom, Fenris will not eat when all the beans are gone. He waits until they get home to eat. Luckily for Mom's recent trips youngest bean has been with us so Fenny could eat.
