Flower Friday (and Foiled Friday)

Just a quickie today as we wanted to share in Dory's last Summer Flower Friday.

Mom said it would be nice if I showed you how good I was this summer with her flower pots.  Maybe it was that cinnamon basil she tried to hide in there that kept me away.  But the joke was on her - I FOILED Mom - because the cinnamon basil grew like crazy. Every week she had to cut it back.  So if you need something that grows big and full and spreads all over the place, try some cinnamon basil.  Mom is so encouraged by what a good boy I have been with her flowers that she might even try some tomatoes next year - BOL - she is so naive:)

Speaking of being FOILED, we had a successful hit in the traps.  Yes, indeed, that last pic in yesterday's post DID have one of these critters trapped/

This is what a mole looks like.  Mom said she would spare you the graphic photo of the catch. Moles sure missed the boat when they were passing out the handsome genes.  And look at those claws and that boring snooter!!!

Actually some other critter visited our yard last night while we were all sleeping and just pulled the whole trap out of the ground.  (I promise you it wasn't me.)  The deaded mole must have been a wee bit too ripe for the visitor because he left it right there in the trap on our lawn.  The man from Critter Control stopped by this morning and took it away (all to the tune of a lot of green papers:( ).  He reset the trap and left all five traps to see if we have any more tunnel diggers.  Mom thinks it may be a case of "one and done".

Wishing you all a Happy Labor Day Weekend. Hope you have lots of fun with family.

Woos - Lightning

  1. Mr Mole sure is strange looking!!! We hope he's the only one and that the tunnel diggers are gone. We had problems with them a few years ago and Dad went to Walgreens and bought a bunch of whirly gigs to put in the lawn.....supposedly the sound of them going around scares them away. The didn't come back so we hope that's what did it.

  11. HOLY CRAP! That dude got beaten with an UGLY STICK!!!! OMD, and I thoughts our roof rats were fugly!!!
(Ma thanks you for not showin' the remnants of the deaded mole. She's got a weak stomach. She gags when she has to clean up my 'treasures'...whimp.)
Now, abouts those tomatoes...Lightning, make sure when you 'sample' the tomatoes that they are at the peak of ripeness...anythings else will not do! You have to have them just right..and don't worry, if you nibble, the peeps just thinks it's some other critter or a burdie snackin'. Shhhh, don't tell Ma...
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  16. Good for you Lightning for not ruining the Mom's flowers. Gosh that Mole is one ugly animal. No wonder they stay in tunnels all the time. By the way the cats had their suitcases all packed and ready to come catch those moles. They would love that. But hopefully your problem is solved. Hugs to Phantom.

  21. Lightning, you are such a good boy not to dig in Mom's flower pots. However, I do think my mole-eradication services would save you some of those $$.

  22. We hope it's the once and done for you. It's a never ending fight here in Oklahoma for us. Pffft!

  23. Bravo on your good behavior Lightning...I know it was hard but I say you deserve a tbone

OMCs...that mole has a face that only his mom could love. jumpin' catfish they are unattractive. My peeps had lunch with dad's bro and his wife today. Dad's bro is about to plant a bulb bed in his yard...Mom asked about the moles/voles. He says he thinks the has that solved. He put a layer of mesh under the first layer of soil. Of course it is a small area so we'll see who is smarter Uncle or moles/voles

  24. Mommy loves the flowering plant but she is freaked out by the mole. They give her the creeps. I hope you get them to leave your place real soon so you can be free to go out anywhere in your yard again. Tell your Mommy to plant some milk bones next year. Frankie and Ernie have real good instructions for that.

    Love Sasha
