Tuesday Terrible Times Six and counting

Thanks to all of you who have been emailing to ask about Ciara.  It has not been a good time here.  Since 10:00 p.m. last night Ciara has had six seizures.  I guess this CAN happen with epi-dogs, but it is terribly unsettling, especially since it has been three months since the last one.  I have been waiting for a callback from the neurologist since 7:00 this morning.  The vet we saw yesterday at our regular practice is not available and can't be reached.   They think it is best for us to work with the neurologist,  I am sure we will be going back on the anti-seizure meds, but I need the go-ahead from one of them.  Please keep my baby girl in your thoughts.  I am pretty sure another one is in the works.  I am getting pretty good at reading her.  They have been coming just about every two hours since 6:30 a.m.  So far she has had six in about 24 hours.

Phantom's visit is on hold until tomorrow because I don't want to leave her home alone right now.  I will update once I hear something.

  18. I'm just so sorry Ciara and your family are going through all of this. Having had an Epi-dog (April) I know just how scary this is. Once she's back on her meds, she'll hopefully be OK once again, but then the new worries about the medication will start.

    Still sending prayers and hugs...

  20. Poor dear Ciara and YOU....it really does sound like her doctor is doing everything possible to help with the right meds. That's all they can do and all WE can do is be there when our "kids" need us and try to help them. It must be frightening to see the seizures returning.....Sam is adjusting to his meds for hyperthyroidism and had blood work yesterday to see if the meds are working. It's always something isn't it....at least WE can understand a bit about what's going on - our animals must be so confused. Sending Hugs....

  24. Keeping Ciara in my thoughts and prayers...glad she got in to see the neuro and hopfeully, the medication will get things managed. I am wondering if the change from hypo to hyperthyroidism maybe triggered the seizures. It's good she's on meds (I know that sounds like a strange statement, but with having so many it is key to get them under control)...and you are the best mom so she is in the best care. As always, I'm here for support, to chat, or just for some friendly virtual hugs. xo
