Wednesday with the Woos

A much better day today!

One of those magical Keppra tablets and Mom's work at keeping Ciara awake seem to have stopped the cluster of seizures.  We are happy to report that there haven't been any more since yesterday afternoon. Although the vet expected a few more before the meds really kicked in, he said that Ciara has historically shown a great response to Keppra.  So it looks like Keppra is IT for now.  She did still manage to disrupt the night three times last night, whining and crying and a bit anxious, but at least no seizing.  She gets Keppra three times a day.  So far, she seems to zone out for about an hour after each dosing, but Mom thinks this will get better after her system adjusts to the change.

Ciara:  I don't know what all the fuss is about - I am feeling pretty good today.

Phantom:  Me too, I got my vet visit in this morning and my Adequan fix.  The nice vet lady told Mom to keep an eye on my toe.  She needs to keep dabbing it with neosporin so I don't get an infection in it when I am outside.  It is growing, just like the one on my ear.  If you can bigify the pic, you might be able to see it on the lower right side of my ear to your right behind the furs - it is tucked down inside a bit so it doesn't look as big and ugly as it reall is.  It bugs me sometimes but so far I am leaving it alone.  The one on my toe is more of a concern because I can't wear boots or socks or a bandage.  It needs to be in the air and not rubbing on anything.  Of course, I do try to rub my tongue and teeth on it, but I keep getting the NO NO order and then that nasty bitter orange cream.  Who knew orange could taste so horrid!!!  Overall, I say I am doing OK.  Did you know that in one week I am going to be celebrating 16 years here in my wonderful home?  I am a quiet kind of guy so no big party planned but I am hoping for some steak or turkey, some ice cream, and a whole bunch of fresh made turkey jerky!!!  Hope you heard that, Mom.

Lightning:  Party time????  Wait for me!!!  I don't have seizures, I don't have any lumps or bumps, I don't have a birthday coming up, but I want to have some fun too!!!

And maybe some of that turkey jerky too:)

One last thing - thanks to all for all of your support!!!

Woos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning and, above all, Mom

  11. Oh we are so glad Ciara, that you at least haven't had any seizures lately. That must be so scary. Now if we could just get you less anxious. Guess you would just chew up a nice stuffed animal friend. Or at least Lightning would chew it up. We understand being anxious. Our Ande gets very anxious.

  27. Are you getting brand name Keppra? It is available as a generic (levatiracetam) that would be a lot less expensive. Perhaps you could get it at your local pharmacy if the vet writes a prescription for it. We're glad your girlie is doing better.
