Wait, it's not Monday moRning, it's Monday afternoon, and I am not moAning.
Have you heard it said: I've fallen and I can't get up???
Well, this old boy says: I'm up and I can't get down:(
The quality of this video is not very good, but Mom caught me a few times trying to lie down so she could show it to the vet. She is hoping he will have some ideas to help make it easier for me. Mom says I never MOAN or complain, but she feels so badly for me. It takes me a while to get down, but I get it all figured out.
Meanwhile, my pal always has my back:)
Woos - Phantom
We sure hope the vet is able to help you buddy!!

We sure hope things get a bit easier for you to lay down and get comfy.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Phantom! Hoping the vet has something to help you on the way down!
ReplyDeletePoor thing! Phantom has always been my favorite of your herd. I hope the vet can find something to help him. In the mean while, my chi's will keep their paws crossed for him.
ReplyDeletePoor baby. He has to be wondering why he gets so stuck. I hope the vet has an answer. In the meantime, lots of love!!!

WE hope the vet has some ideas for Phantom

Phantom, you are so stoic. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteWe really hope the vet can help you to lay down Phantom. You are such a brave boy.

Oh poor baby, that does look like hard work, but you got there in the end ! What a brave boy!

It looks like he has some arthritis in his hips or spine. Poor baby!
ReplyDeleteOh Phantom, our dog Ande does the same thing and also has trouble getting up and down the steps. She is now taking Meloxicam and it is helping her a lot. But don't know what other medicine you are one at the moment. It is hard to get those joints folded up to lie down. We send you lots of woofs from Ande. She know just how you feel.Take care.
ReplyDeleteWould it be easier if you sat on Lightning? Hope the dogtor comes up with some ideas.
ReplyDeleteOur paws are crossed that the vet has something to help you lay down big guy!!
ReplyDeleteSmileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty and Bilbo
Oh Phantom, I hopes you get down better sooowooowooooon!
ReplyDeleteWe have our paws crossed that the Dogtor can give you somethingy to make it easier to get down. We see that you do it Carefully so you don't injure yourself.. That is GOOD.
ReplyDeleteOh that hurts. My oldest sissys, Bailey and her daughter Sarah, kind of do the same thing. Mom put them on Duralactin and now they bounce off the walls, especially 16-year-old Bailey when it's supper time. But they're a lot smaller than you, Phantom, so they don't have as much weight to put down.
ReplyDeleteOh Phantom, we sure hope that they can help...our Shadow is just the opposite....flops down but takes awhile to get up!
ReplyDeleteThe triple Mad Scots
it looks like the arthritis in Phantoms back legs have caused them to stiffen - Reilly has that problem in one back leg - it doesn't bend very well anymore. Some gentle physical therapy helps him
ReplyDeletePoor Phantom! It's tough getting old but we're glad you are able to get down eventually and you do look comfy when you're finally laying on your side. Those back legs just don't do what you want them to do they? We're sending purrs and hope that the vet has a way to help you. Mommy is sending smooches!
ReplyDeleteDear Phantom...my sweet Woo! You seem to be slow but it also looks like you have figured out a way to easy yourself down...I didnot see that it hurt you but I expect it hurts your sweet mom cause she wants you always comfy and happy....moms are like that. I hope your vet had some hints
ReplyDeleteHugs Madi your bfff
Oh, Phantom, I sure hope the vet can make you more comfortable. If you were short like me, it would be a lot easier to lay down :0)
ReplyDeleteIt sure is tough getting old isn't it Phantom? We hope the doctor can help you feel better.
ReplyDeleteOh you poor baby. Take it easy sweetie
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Oh Phantom! I'm sorry those back leggies just aren't bendin' like they used to. I knows that sucks. It looks like you look at them and say, "hey, a little help here!" I hopes the vettie has some suggestions.
ReplyDeletePaws crossed for you buddie!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Phantom, we know you love that pretty wood floor, but we wish you would sleep on a nice soft bed. Oh well, we hope your vet has some good ideas. Paws crossed.
ReplyDeleteXOXO

Poor Phantom. We so hope the vet can come up with some ideas to help. Sending big hugs. Have a terrific Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I wonder if his knees are hurting? Or locking? I sure hope the vet can help!
ReplyDeleteMonty and Harlow
We had this exact same problem with our big guy...it was so sad but we just did the best we could to help him...I had a sling that fit under his belly...he weighed over a hundred pounds so it was difficult, but we make it work...towards the end. Hope the vet can help!! Hugs to you Phantom!!
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping the VET comes up with a good solution for Phantom. It sure looks like arthritis to us :(
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Oh Phantom, I'm all achy just watching you! My sissy has a hard time lying down too sometimes, but not as bad as you. I hope the vet can bring you some relief!
ReplyDeleteOh my poor sweet phantom xx It does lok like you have it all figured out though. Your 'ol bones must be getting sore :(
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Precious Phantom. I so hope your DVM has some help for you. Your courage is an inspiration
ReplyDeletePhantom, I hope the vet has an idea or maybe someone here in Blogville has a tip or advice how to make it a little easier for you. I can only cross all my paws for you and I hope it helps a little.
ReplyDeleteEasy Rider
Poor boy. It's so tough getting older isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that took me back. Bentley got down exactly that way. He had a pinched nerve in his back and then his leg muscles weakened. It seemed like he wasn't sure where his back end was. BUT, he did not want help.
ReplyDeleteWe hope your vet has come up with a plan for you, Phantom.
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
Hope the vet has a way to help. Our thought was that Phantom is afraid of slipping especially on the wood floor. Fenny says wood floors are tricky things your paws want to go all different directions if you don't pay attention.
ReplyDeletePhantom lies down like our Taiko does. Tai has a rapidly disintegrating elbow and dogs bear a majority of their weight on the front legs. I think it is like 60/40. There is a homeopathic pain reliever caller Zeel by a German Co. (Heel) but available here in the US. We have been able to cut Tai's Carprofen dose in half and he gets down and up much better. Here is a review in Dogs Naturally: http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/homeopathy-zeel-arthritis/
ReplyDeleteI sure hope that you can figure out a way to help him. He definitely eventually figures it out, but I see why you want your vet's input.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you mentioned wanting to find something besides boots that would help Phantom's traction on wood floors. I did a google search for "dog paw traction", and a number of adhesive products for the bottom of the paw pads appeared. I'm guessing that you've already tried them - but I thought that I mention them just in case...
Oh Phantom! I think it's that some part of you thinks you are falling. My grandma used to do that...
