Let's get the music started.
No, we won't be doing the dancing.
Today we would like to share our blog with our sweet Miss C, who recently competed in the StageOne Regional Dance Competition in Kansas City both as a soloist and as a group member. She and her sister Miss K won very high awards for multiple group numbers in tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary. Miss C won First Place in the Elite Division of the Petite Solos (ages 7-9), scoring an almost perfect score. We have wanted to share her dance with you for a long time, but videos are not allowed by the studio. However, Stage One posted the first place winners of various categories on YouTube. So without further ado, here she is, dancing to "Kiss the Rain".
You can also watch the video HERE on YouTube.
Miss C turned eight in January. You may have noticed that the video labels the song as "For My Eve". Miss C, her twin brother J, and big sister K have a cousin who is also 8 and lives in Minnesota. Eve was born with a neurological illness that has made it impossible for her to speak, or walk, or use her hands. She loves her cousins very much, and they love her in return. She loves music and really enjoys watching the girls dance. Miss C's dance instructor told her that the solo needed to tell a story in order for her to be able to perform it in the best possible way. Miss C, out of her love for her cousin, decided to dedicate her dance to precious Eve. We think she succeeded in sharing that immense love for Eve through her dance. Every time Mom watches her perform, the tears just flow.
We hope you enjoyed seeing our little angel bring joy to others. Now Miss C and big sister Miss K will be dancing in the national competition in Branson in June. They will be dancing in several group numbers and Miss C's solo. We are wishing them lots of good luck, just don't break a leg:)

The story behind the dance made our mom's eyes leak. She also said she can't wait to see Miss C on "So You Think You Can Dance" someday.
