Serene Sunday, Please!

Ciara here, I am so hoping today is a quieter, more peaceful, SERENE day than the past two days.

Can you tell I am NOT a happy camper?

I don't like those fireworks AT ALL!!!  Mom tried everything to calm me.  The TV was on, the doors and windows were all closed, I even wore that Thundershirt for a while.  The thing that helped the most was my bandanna that Mom sprayed with Adaptil.  It seemed to calm me even if it only lasted for about 15 minutes.  She almost used a half bottle last night.

As you can imagine, after a seizure and lots of anxious moments, I am very happy to be doing this today with Lightning having my back.  I sure hope those stupid peeps ran out of fireworks last night.

Hope your day (and night) is filled with peace and quiet.

Woos - Ciara (and Lightning - who isn't bothered at all by the fireworks but don't let a bike or sign or balloon anywhere in his sight)

Note from Mom:  We will not have another 4th of July like this one for my girl - I vow I will find something to give her ahead of time that will keep her calm and happy.

  3. Poor Ciara. That is just plain crazy, to make so much noise and scare so many souls in the name of having fun.

  4. it was an awful night - we like Australia's idea much better fireworks are only allowed to be let off at a public event and are illegal for individual to have or let off in the own yards - it completely stopped all the injuries caused by fireworks and the fires they caused too. We could hardly breath last night the air was so thick with firework smoke

  5. Oh poor Ciara! I totally understand as I was terrified by those horrible booms too! There's no where for me to go since I'm a kitty I'll be even more scairt if I have to leave home but Mommy sure wishes she could pick up our house and move it to the middle of nowhere every 4th of July. Glad you're better today though. I am too!

    Purrs,
    Angel

  6. How awful for you, Ciara! We wish all fireworks would go up in smoke never to be seen or heard from again - EVER! Our Canine Calm didn't work and neither did our lavender oil or our Rescue Remedy. I, Mitch spent hours in the bathroom and Molly spent a long time on mom's lap. Fireworks are EVIL!

    Love ya lots♥

  7. I am so sorry that you were upset with the boom booms. Mommy is happy to report that so far they don't bother me. Angel Sasha was real scared of them and so she is enjoying me just playing right through it all. Paws crossed that I stay that way. I am sending loveys for you both.

    Ziggy Out!!

  9. Ciara, I hope there is no more fireworks. I always wonder if the people shooting off those stupid things ever think about all the animals that are scared. I hope you are feeling better now.

  14. Poor Ciara. the 4th of July is our least favorite holiday, Bailey has always hated the fireworks. We live out of town and used to have neighbors that would do them till 2 am and he would bark and pace and bark. The last two years have been better. We still endure the town firework display noise but it is over by 10:45, and Bailey doesn't hear as well anymore. Hope there won't be any tonight
    hugs

  15. That just breaks my heart. Poor Ciara! That must be heartbreaking having to watch her stress out and have seizures. I'm glad that today was better for her.

  16. Ok, here is the deal. You stay in one room. The TV is so loud, everyone including the hunans are deaf afterwards. It works

  17. Fenris actually likes to watch the fireworks, the silly boy tries to catch them. Tuiren used to be afraid of them and hide in her dog house but now she joins Fenny is his pursuit of the elusive lights in the sky.

  18. Hi, With our old dogs, we used a tranquilizer and then in later years, Benedryl. That just makes them sleepy. Hope you can find something to help with the stress they feel.

  20. I don't know about her thyroid and seizure issues but Penny used Xanax very well with her pup... Of course it barely touches loki in a car ride, but it worked well her firework fearing husky... I feel for you.

I hate the fireworks in neighbor's yards. there's NO POINT. Go to a show already and leave the fireworks to the pro's. It's so stupid and childish! Grrr....
