Tuesday's Tale

We are here to tell you all about the tail/tale of Tuesday's fun for Mom AND to thank all of you for the many ideas you gave us for rescuing the rabbit.

Mom did put some lettuce, carrots,  and water in the window well for Mr. Pesky Dumb Bunny last night.   Sadly he did not touch the food and we don't know if he drank any of the water.  He was just really scared.  We were hoping that he might get braver during the night when it was quieter and try to climb up the board.  But no such luck.

So Mom borrowed this from a neighbor.

It is a net thingie for a swimming pool and it has a handle that telescopes out a LOT!!!

Here is another view of the window well.  As you can see it is quite big and very deep.

After many efforts using different techniques, Mom was finally successful.  The poor bunny was not too happy about all those efforts but eventually he got in the basket and didn't move. So Mom took advantage of that moment and scooped the net up and over the top of the railing.  When she gently set it on the grass, Mr. Pesky Dumb Bunny just sat there - for a NANOSECOND - and then he took off like a shot.  We are happy to report that Mr. Pesky Dumb Bunny has left the property and is probably all the way to the other side of the country by now.

Mom didn't have time to take any photos of the rescue, but Lightning can attest to the fact that there is bunny stink in this net.

Yep, he was in here for sure.

Ciara thinks Mom is her hero because she is really tired of listening to Lightning's jabbering about that rabbit.

Lightning is busy ascertaining that yes, indeed, this is the "eau du lapin" that he chased into that well.

But he won't promise that it won't happen again.

Mom says she is going to work on a project to cover the top of that well with some sort of screening.

Just checking to be sure he didn't come back:)

YAY!!!  We finally have sun.

  9. We can't call him Mr. Pesky Dumb Bunny. He's actually very smart. He ran to some place safe when being chased and then he was smart enough to get into the basket to be saved. He was a real cutie and I'm glad he is alright. Good job, Mom!

  10. I bet that bunny did not chow down on the noms because he was thinking woos being trying to fatten him up fur dinner or sumpin. The moms has a way of foiling those plans with their daring rescue attempts. But I happens to like bunnies as furrends so good job momster!

  11. Way to go!!!!!!! You are a hero, saving that poor Bunny. I bet he is very very far away by now!!

I thought it was very ironic that I saw a van that said "Precision Window Well Covers" as I drove home today. I guess that there are "professional window well workers". That will disappoint Lightning, who I'm sure is hoping for a repeat!

It is too funny that you got a photo with the two Sibes on opposite sides of the No-Sibe fence :)

  22. OMD! You should've called me to "rescue" the bunny. I love chasing bunnies and I have even caught one or two in my day. I never hurt them (though my instinct told me to) because Ma would scream like a banshee and scare the daylights out of me and the bunny! BOL

  23. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WE ARE SO VERY VERY HAPPY TO READ ABOUT THIS GREAT BUNNY RESCUE. THAT IS A VERY DEEP WELL TO JUMP IN...CRAZY BUNNY. YOUR MOM WAS SURELY DETERMINED AND THAT BUNNY SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST WIGGLED HIS COTTON TAIL AS HE HOPPED AWAY.

FYI...I THINK THAT VERY BUNNY ARRIVED HERE LAST NIGHT AND BOY WAS IT CHATTERING AWAY ABOUT TRIP HE RECENTLY TOOK.

  26. Me and Nellie know all about rabbits. A family of rabbits live underneath our house and try as we might, they refuse to come out and play with the two bestest maremmas in all the land.

  27. The Secretive Bunny Militia is not exactly smart sometimes. I mean, they come into our yard for no apparent reason, even though it smells of 20 years of dog pee, and then they can't figure how to get out! Ghostwriter has blocked all the entrance spots and they still manage to get in. I have caught a few of them over the years. I really believe they are some kind of suicide cult, except they always forget the explosives. Well, we're glad your Mr. Pesky Dumb Bunny got out of the window well. Hopefully he'll inform his friends about the danger, but I doubt it!
