It's WORDless Wednesday - AND It's Dr. Seuss Day!!!

Celebrating a man of many WORDS!!!

Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, was born in Springfield, Massachusets, the same city where our Mom grew up.  Did you know that the Mulberry Street forever immortalized in "To Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street!" was actually in Springfield?

Dr. Seuss certainly was a man of many words - here is a complete list of the many books he wrote AND illustrated.

The following books were published after his death:

Daisy-Head Mayzie (1994) was written after Ted's death, based on his sketches and notes.

My Many Colored Days (1996) was written by Dr Seuss in 1973, well before he died. For some reason (I haven't been able to find out why) it was only published for the first time after his death.

Hooray For Diffendoofer Day! (1998) was written after Ted's death, based on his sketches and notes.
You may also find more books credited to Dr. Seuss, but they are ones that he only wrote but had others do the illustrations.
Mom says she has read almost all of these books either to her own children or to her grandchildren - that's a lot of words:) Many of them reside on the bookshelves in the bedrooms upstairs (where we Woos are not allowed). We hope you enjoyed learning something new about the wonderful Dr. Seuss!!!
Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss
and
Happy Dr. Seuss Day to all!!!

  1. Our bookshelves are full. When SHE first came to Oz, there were NO Dr Seuss books. SHE had to buy them on visits to the states. Now they are everywhere.

  10. Dr. Seuss was an amazing man and certainly had a BIG way with words! His characters and books will be popular forever we think - and you can't help but smile when you even THINK about Dr. Seuss. We're celebrating all over the blogosphere today which is quite something when you think about it - this man and his work are LOVED!

  27. I knew Green Eggs and Ham growing up but wasn't a particularly big fan of Dr Seuss - until as a teenager I babysat a little girl and the best way to read her to sleep was reading any Dr Seuss book (I definitely recall using One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish) in the most rhythmic way I could.

I LOVE Horton Hears A Who and Seussical: the Musical! though. And I love the idea of your Momster reading all of his books to children and grandchildren. What a loving person your Momster is!
