Flower Friday

Today we are joining in on the Flower Friday Blog Hop hosted by Dory's Backyard.

As well as the This Moment See Beautiful Blog Hop.

We are having another "See Beautiful" Day here in OP although the weather is supposed to turn bad later this afternoon.  Mom is trying a new plant this year.  We are posing next to it here, but Mom says it is going to be moved to the front beds as she worries we might like to taste it:)  It is called a dipladenia and is from the mandevilla family.  Mom \was very happy to read this online:  Because it's relatively drought tolerant, dipladenia is an excellent pick for busy or forgetful gardeners who may forget to water from time to time during the summer. They must know our Mom well as she is known to be very forgetful when it comes to her flowers.

It has very pretty trumpet-shaped flowers that come in a variety of colors - ours look like a very bright pink.

Here is a closeup of some of the buds that should be opening soon.  We hope it will bloom all summer for us too. And then Mom can bring it inside for the winter.

We hope you all find some ways to See Beautiful and find some Friday Flowers in your world today too.

Meanwhile, I am going to hide out in my little shelter because I heard the weather radio just put un on a severe storm watch:(

  3. Gorgeous flowers! We hope the storms aren't too severe today - and mostly that they don't bother you, Ciara! We had the edge of one come through here about an hour or so ago. It went mostly to our north. I think more is coming.

  22. That is a pretty flower and we bet the hummingbirds would like that.

As for our serviceberry we have never tried to eat the berries although a quick search says it would be okay to do. We prefer to leave them all to the birds and beasts to enjoy. Our mom did a blog post about it long before she was part of Blogville with quite a few videos of different birds eating the berries. You can see that here: https://birdbrainsanddogtales.wordpress.com/2009/06/22/the-longest-day-of-the-year/ . We have also seen many four legged creatures eating them from the ground or from climbing out on the branches (think squirrels and chipmunks).

  24. The flower is really pretty, and my kind of one to have since I'm one of those "forgetful gardeners."

Hope the storms miss you - I'm really worn out from the ones we've been having every day for nearly 3 weeks.
