Tricky Tuesday

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

We wanted to share the good news that yesterday Misty was cleared of all restrictions.  The V.E.T. said her incision looked great. Then she was treated to a morning at the SPA.  Her first time at the groomer's.  She got an A for behavior for the most part, but a D- for nail clipping and pad fur trimming cooperation:)

Now the vet did free her from no running, jumping, and climbing.  BUT Sunday night BEFORE she got her freedom, she pulled a big trick on Mom and Dad.

Mom and Dad went to see "Stomp" Sunday night and were a little sad that Misty had to be crated for several hours while they were gone, and then she would be crated again shortly after their return for bedtime.  But she still doesn't have her freedom when no humans are home.

So before we explain what happened, do you see any difference between the next two photos?

This one?

And this one?

Did you guess that it was this little carabiner thingie?

Well, somehow Mom forgot to put that thingie on the crate's door lock for added security (since she doesn't think the simple sliding lock is enough) and . . .

VOILA!!!!  Misty managed to open the lock at the top and the bottom AND was at the back door to greet Mom and Dad when they returned right there next to Lightning.

Lightning thought it was a pretty good trick.  Hmmmm, did Misty have a magician's assistant?

We are not telling!!!  But since everything was in perfect order, nothing chewed, nothing destroyed, nothing out of line, no puddles - we think that deserves some yummy treats!!!

See, I CAN be a very good girl and I am SO happy to be "free to be ME".

Woos - Lightning and Misty

  1. You showed them Misty what a good girl you can be. Good for you. Glad you are all free now to do what you want to do. Bet you and Lightning are having such a good time. Take care everyone.

  2. You are such a good trustworthy girl Misty. It takes mum all her time to leave Cricket alone for 5 minutes while she goes upstairs!
That is a very good trick with the door, we commend your lockpicking skills 😜.

  4. Ha roo roo roo! Way to go, Misty! I don't even know how to get out of 10 Downing Street (my carrier) without a carabiner on it! You're super smart! I mean, I don't retreat to 10 Downing when Mom and Dad go out any more, but I did when I was your age. And I still ask to sleep there at night. I like it in there!

  6. I can do the crate trick too, Misty, and so can Jessie! It always makes Momma REALLY excited. She shouts out our names so loud! Bravo on learning it.

  10. Free Misty! Free Misty! She don't need no stinkin' jail time. She's innocent. Why should she be put in prison? If I can leave Juno the criminal free to "go postal" (eat all the mail), chew up several pairs of shoes and dump my trash can all over the floor, what harm could come from Misty being free with her very good bro-fur? Juno says: Free Misty! Mastications are a right! Not a crime! BOL! (you two are absolutely adorable.)

  13. Misty you are glowing after your spa day! I don't do well with nail stuff either. Hopefully you will become more accustom or at least tolerant.
Well young lady I am changing your name to Magical Misty! Bravo bravo what a great trick for a youngster!
Lightning were you napping during the big escape and did Misty sneak up on you?

  14. Misty must be learning from River. There has not been a crate built that can contain her

  15. What an awesome story, Misty! You are FREE, in many different ways. You can run and jump and play, and you can be trusted at home alone (right, Momster?). Even Shyla can't have the run of the house when we're not home so I am totally impressed. Way to go, Misty!

  16. That was a great way to show you are worthy of having free run while the pawrents are away. Good job Misty.

  17. We're glad you're feeling better, Misty. You're a good girl for not chewing up the house while your humans were gone. We cockers don't like anyone to mess with our feet and nails either. The usually sweet Joey dog had to be muzzled when it was time for Miss Jacquie to groom his feet!

  21. Lightning may or may not have had a "paw" in that! SO Happy for Misty!! BRAVO!! We had a similar situation when Chloe was just a little puppy. She somehow managed to collaborate with her big brother and climb the gate and jump on to his back to get out of the kitchen! We sure were surprised to find her at the door upon our return! :)

    Glad all was well!!

  28. Our mom knows that all huskies are super smart. Our long lost sister Sheba went through 5 crates before our mom got security down tight. But Misty was super good when she got out. Sheba ATE THE HOUSE.

  29. The carabiner was the first thing I noticed in the FIRST photo. Hence my first thought, 'and this is the difference between you having huskies and us having cavaliers'! Haha! We think a mere CRATE can keep a dog in...
