Tasty Tuesday #ChewyInfluencer

We have to be the luckiest pups - we get to do two reviews this month for Chewy.com.  We have another exciting product to share with you that Chewy.com sent to us at no cost in exchange for a fair and honest review.

We are very good about being fair and honest. If we don't like something, we spit it out. So let's get on with this review, Mom, and our readers can see what we think.

For our second October review, we selected a product from a company we had not heard of before.  We picked Nulo freestyle grain-free trainers in the salmon recipe.

We first checked out the Nulo company.  From their website, we learned a lot:

Located in Austin, TX, Nulo is at home in the epicenter of a hip, active and pet-loving community where we enjoy seeing pet parents get out with their favorite four-footed friends.
EXPERIENCE IN PET CAREOur company started when our founders, who have a long history in professional pet care and education, began to see an escalation in overweight pets and the administration of at-home insulin shots for diabetic cats and dogs.
PET NUTRITION IN CRISISA study of 6,000 households and 11,000 dogs and cats confirmed the alarming trend … pets were essentially living in a “fast food nation.” Just like many of our human counterparts, dogs and cats have been significantly overfed and often enticed with nutritionally poor ingredients. To make matters worse, many of the pet foods on the store shelf were discovered to be over 12 months old – severely decreasing the taste and the potency of nutritionally rich ingredients.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF PET FOOD COMPANYSo Nulo set out to be a different kind of pet food company with no short cuts and using only the finest natural ingredients. Along with some of the brightest minds in the pet food industry, we began creating unique recipes using fresh chicken, lamb and salmon and paired them with yummy things like apples, carrots, lentils, and sweet potato.
We also made a promise to keep Nulo products the freshest recipes you’ll ever find on the store shelf or to arrive at your door. Our blends are made and distributed in smaller batches to ensure they spend less time on the shelf and taste better when they land in the bowl.
Good pet nutrition should be simple and Nulo is proud to live up to our promise of keeping pets active and healthy for years to come.

Pretty impressive description.  Then we checked out what Chewy.com had to say:

Description:

Make training delicious and nutritious with Nulo Freestyle Grain-Free Salmon Recipe Dog Training Treats. Formulated with salmon as the first ingredient plus wholesome chickpeas and a boost of superfood goodness from cherries, blueberries, and honey, it’s the bite-sized training treat that packs a big dose of nutrition. It also has salmon oil to provide DHA-rich omega-3 fatty acids for even more wholesomeness in every bite! And at two calories per treat, it helps support a healthy weight for dogs of all breeds and ages, even puppies. Plus, it’s made with zero corn, wheat, soy, artificial preservatives, colors or flavorings.

Key Benefits:

  • Grain-free treats are made with salmon as the first ingredient for a delicious, single-source protein training reward.
  • Packed with the nutritious goodness of superfoods like cherries, blueberries and honey in every bite.
  • Loaded with DHA and omega-3 fatty acids from salmon oil and flaxseeds to promote overall wellbeing.
  • Great for training puppies and adult pups alike, and is low calorie so it can help your pooch stay at his healthy weight.
  • Made in the USA with no corn, wheat, gluten, soy, artificial preservatives, colors or flavorings.

There is a lot to love in all that information:  SALMON!!!, fruit, salmon oil, low calorie, made in the U.S.A., and none of that artificial stuff that Mom wants to avoid.

Now they ARE a little on the tiny side, but that's because they are meant for training. And remember they ARE low calorie. We count nine treats in that bowl, so that must mean three for each of us.  (Mom, a retired Math teacher, must have taught us some math skills.)  Not too bad, although we would always like to have more.

My snooter knew that there was salmon in that treat,
and I was very eager to try it.

A little sniff first from Misty followed by a gentle taking.

Bug-eyed Timber very eager to get his taste too.

How about another one, Mom?

Misty says me too.
Good boy, Timber, waiting patiently for your turn.

Timber's turn as Misty hopes maybe he will drop it.

Now Mom's turn.  With two young pups in the house, there is always a lot of training going on.  I like to use the small training treats as rewards.  It is nice to have a variety of treats so that the dogs don't get bored with the same one.  Lightning, Misty, and Timber are not too fussy when it comes to treats, but they do love anything with fish.  Their reaction to the Nulo freestyle trainers was very positive.  They are also available in turkey and duck flavors.  You can find them on the Chewy.com website by clicking HERE.

We love being ambassadors for Chewy.com as Chewy Influencers. We are able to try lots of new products to see if we will enjoy them. Thank you, Ms. Natalie and Chewy.com, for this opportunity.  We give 12 paws up for Nulo freestyle grain-free trainers. We encourage all of our readers to pop over to Chewy.com and see ALL the many wonderful products they offer.

  10. I think I would like those Nulo treats because I like the soft chewy treats. Mom says there are so many ways I am just like Shawnee except I spit out chicken jerky. It is gross in my opinion. Hey, you spit things out that you don't like and I have some husky in me so that must be a husky thing, you think?
