Flower Friday

WOW - we actually have some flowers to share today for Flower Friday!!!

And since those two young pests have been commandeering the blog all week, I think it is my turn today.

What have we here??  I thought we were coming up on Easter, but I heard Mom use the word Christmas!!!

Yes, Lightning - that is one of Mom's Christmas cacti, and it decided to bloom in March!!!

Here is a closeup of the right side.

And then the left side - there are even a few buds that may open for Easter Sunday.

Christmas blooms for Easter???  Beats me, but if Mom has some yummy cookies in her paws for me, than I am more than willing to post about them.

Happy Easter weekend to all!!

Woos - Lightning (who really isn't as off white as he appears - the sun is out!!!!  Finally!!!!  And Mom didn't do a very good job with the lighting.)

  9. Good work Lightning!!! I say you must demand your rightful space on the bloggie! Oh, Ma's Christmas Cactus is gonna bloom AGAIN! She just noticed that it is sprouting new blooms, and it already bloomed in November (?)!!
I thinks the plants are as confused as we are abouts the wacky weather!

  11. Excellent job Lightning!! We think you are very handsome! The Christmas Cactus is beautiful too. We have been having the weirdest weather...and the sad news is that it is not expected to get much better in the next couple of weeks.

It sure does look like Spring at your house! Hope you all have a wonderful Easter!

My gran used to call her zygocactus truncata (now renamed schlumbergera) the 'Easter cactus'... so I guess 'holiday cactus' would be a better title! There is such a thing as a 'true' Christmas cactus, which is a hybrid of the schlumbergera with buckleyi... I had one which was 40 years old (I took the original cutting from an old neighbour), and it was very reliable in December... the Aussie summer. It was a 'pet'plant and my heart ached when I had to leave it behind and move continents. Sigh... YAM xx
