Flower Friday

Today we are joining Rosy for Flower Friday.  Mom finally remembered to get some pics of our flowers.

A mini-garden of wax begonias with a pretty little girl statuette and her dog.

Another mini-display with a mix of superbells, million bells, and more wax begonias.

A view of our front entryway.  That wreath was made by Deb from The Three Little Pugs for our Mom a couple of years ago.  Mom added a few bright pink flowers to it as the sun had damaged some of the original ones.

This planter is tucked in a corner on the front porch and is also filled with wax begonias - the one flower that seems to do the best for Mom.

A closer view of one of the porch urns.  Lots of pink geraniums, some trailing ivy, and a spike in the middle.

Inside we have this beautiful orchid.  It is still pretty small but it never fails to bloom.

Moving back outside to the back yard, here are the fenced-in flowers.   They are fenced-in because somePup would stick her snooter in the planter and pull the plants out:)  We don't know who that was, but Mom said she wasn't taking any chances this year.

In the planters are a mix of lantana and penta.  The deck gets a lot of direct sun, and with the windows behind the planters, Mom has to plant flowers that do very well with the heat.

The Five Prisoners seem to be thriving despite their incarceration.

Don't they look nice and healthy?

This is a diplodenia that Mom moves inside for the winter.  She is hoping it will start to bloom soon because it doesn't get much sun inside and never blooms inside.

Well, this isn't exactly a flower, but our one tomato plant growing in a "smart" pot is doing very well.  It has several yellow flowers and  . . .

. . .if you look closely, you can see four tiny tomatoes coming along.

Now wait a minute, Mom.  That's not supposed to be here for Flower Friday.  OK, we will tell them about it.  Our two chimneys that are covered with stucco had very fine cracks in them. In order to repair, all the stucco had to be removed.  Lo and behold, ALL the wood underneath was totally rotted.  So both chimneys have to be rebuilt from top to bottom and then re-stuccoed.  Mom and Dad just roll their eyes when they think about the costs - several tens of thousands of dollars:(  But it is maintenance that HAS to be done.  The next steps should begin next week on this chimney, and then they will do the same for the other one.

We couldn't let this post be complete without at least one pic of us.  We are all smiling because Mom says we have all been very good about leaving her flowers alone (so far).

We will close with this beautiful pot of flowers that Mom got for Mother's Day from one of our human sisters.  It is just gorgeous.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend.

  1. You have lots of beautiful flowers. That is a lot of pots to keep watered. Hopefully the jails will keep those nosy pups out of them.

OMD those are gorgeous plants - I have a passion for geraniums and pelargoniums and also for begonias! (lots else too, but you didn't show them...&*>)... oh, and you don't have to tell me about costs of maintenance. Full roof renewal last year plus shoring up the chimneys. Yeechhh... and they wonder why I'm on toast and butter... Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Good grief on the chimney...yikes yep one of those things that has to be done.
Several years ago my peeps had to spend lots of Madi treat money to have a vapor barrier put in the crawl space under the house and sump pump (that NO ONE SEES) but it had to be done after 6" of rain in 2007 in one day that settled under the house. YIKES.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  11. Holy cow...your mum has such gorgeous flowers! Regrowing chimneys is hard (and clearly expensive) work. Sorry you have to go through that but it will be nice and toasty come wintertime. Have a glorious Memorial Day weekend.
