Thankful Thursday

We are joining Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

We sure do have reason to be thankful today.  We couldn't wait to get outside today to check out the yard.  Why is that?

Last night those dreadful sirens were blaring away for almost two hours as some wild storms swept through our county.  We all had to go to the basement with Mom and Dad.  To be honest, Lightning was a total basket case, not because of the storms, but because he wasn't sure about this basement at all.  He has only been down there a few times.  And Misty, who had warned Mom about the storms coming early that morning by her "clinginess", spent the two hours on the leather recliner tucked in behind Mom.  And what about Timber?  He was in dog heaven.  He spent the whole time sniffing every nook and cranny he could find.  He thought it was great to get to explore this new territory.

Oh, about the storms - we did NOT have any damage. But within our neighborhood, only about two blocks away, some sort of damaging wind swept through a large area and took down many utility poles, power lines, and big trees.  Fortunately no one was injured.  We were all very thankful for that. And now we wait again, as more storms could come in late this afternoon.  We have to keep reminding ourselves that this IS the season for severe weather.  We just hope to be fortunate to escape the storms all the time.

As you can see from our photo, Mom has some work to do in the garden department.  She bought lots of new plants for her deck pots and is already wondering if she will have to deal with some canine gardeners again:)

UPDATE:  The National Weather Service just confirmed that the storm that went through here was in fact an EF-1 tornado.  Not a big one, but still. . .

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  2. We feel very thankful today, too! Damage nearby, but not here at Ao4 Headquarters.
Our a/c has been dead for a couple weeks now - and apparently laying on the vents wishing it would come back alive doesn't work! Men have been in and out, trying to fix it, then declared it a goner. HOPEFULLY by tonight they'll have the new one up and running. It gets WAY too hot in here -- and not being able to open the windows because of the storms didn't help at all.
    Yours sincerely,
    Margaret Thatcher

  4. Oh Nooooooooooooooooo Woos we are so very sorry. MOm and I can surely relate to Lightning as neither of us are at all happy when there is electrical storms and wind. Mom had a bad experience as a child.

We hope and purr today has been better and you are all feeling less anxious.
Loads of hugs and calming kitty kisses

  8. We're glad to hear the storms didn't hurt anyone. Maybe you should have some parties in the basement just for fun so it won't seem so scary when the storms come.

  11. We've just had to go to the basement for an F3 tornado one time, but it went a couple of miles North of us. Barkley was all excited to sniff new stuff. We have taken Abby down there a few times so she will go without hesitation if we have to. Everything severe went well North of us today. Hope you have a quiet night!

  16. That is very scary. I'm so glad that you and all your neighbors are okay. You three pups sure have the full range of reactions to the basement. I bet that we'd have to carry Shyla down there but R would think it was a great adventure! I hope that you don't have to go down there again tonight.

Those flowers look gorgeous! Be good, you three Sibes!
