Monday's Mystery

Hi, it's Timber. I am Monday's Mystery!

I bet you thought it was going to be a Monday Mischief post:)  Mom says the "M" in Misty and the "M" in TiMber stand for mischief.  Misty and I have no idea why she thinks THAT.

So let's get down to business and see what this mystery is all about.  You know Mom and Dad have been worried about me because I have been having tummy issues.  So I have had a few trips to the V.E.T.,  and I have been subjected to pokes and prods for a bunch of tests.

First Dr. C. told Mom my blood work didn't show any problems, but maybe I needed some metronidazole to reset my stomach.  Well, that didn't work.  So it was back to the V.E.T. for more tests.  This time Dr. B. took a picture of my tummy area and said it looked like I had a "partial" blockage and put me on that gross pink enteric liquid.  Let me tell you that the floor enjoyed it a lot more than I did - Mom needs to learn better skills at getting that yuck into me.  The purported partial blockage was very small and has now been cleared out.

So this time I had to let Mom scoop up another "sample" - what is it about wanting to examine my poop anyway?  This time Dr. B. sent it away to some special place where they did a PCR test on my sample to see what they could find since my symptoms of vomiting and not-so-good poop formation had not improved.  This test would check for any and all kinds of parasites, bacteria, and all sorts of other problems.  It is considered to be a very comprehensive test.  Well, guess what?  Nada, nothing, all negative -so we are back to square one after spending over $500 so far.  Mom didn't get the results from Dr. B. until late Saturday after the clinic was closed.  Dr. B. said he is wondering if maybe I have developed an issue with my kibble and wants me to try a special diet kibble for two weeks. We all eat the same food, a limited ingredient grain-free product from Zignature.  I have eaten it since I joined the family, and Mom has used the same food for about seven years for all of her dogs with no issues.  But maybe I am different:)  If things get better with the special food after two weeks, then I can try going back to my kibble.  If the same thing happens, then we will know it is the food.  If it doesn't happen, then we may never be able to solve the mystery.  Mom just wants me to stop spitting up bile and doing messy poops.

I hope that wasn't TMI for you, but I know you have all been thinking good thoughts for me.  Despite all this stuff that is going on, I am actually doing fine.  I am eating very well, and I am very active all the time.  In fact, Misty is patiently waiting for me right now to play zoom-zoom-zoom.  Off we go!!!

  2. It's frustrating, isn't it? Noah has been having tummy trouble for about five years now. Mom makes his food and mostly he's ok, but then for no reason he suddenly starts having messy poops again.

  6. Well Timber sometimes being a "man of mystery" is not a GOOD THING - like when your family is worried and your doctors have no idea what's going on! I hope it's a food thing and you can EASILY fix that....I know you don't want to be a man of mystery forever and ever right????

    Love, Teddy

  22. We are all hoping it is something simple like a food change. We have been through that before with our dogs. Something that was great before we got Brut, he had a sensitive tummy, then we changed food and he was all better.

Wishing you luck and well being~the 24 Paws of Love
