Thankful Thursday

Maybe we should call this Mischief Monday Trouble Tuesday Wordy Wondering Wednesday Thankful Thursday.  Whatever, let's join Brian's Thankful Thursday Bloghop and give you an update on Timber.

Yep, that's me, the boy with the tummy and poop issues.

Raspberries to all the tests I have been through.  How about a cookie as a reward for my good behavior?

Seriously, Mom, do we HAVE to talk about poop?  That's embarrassing.

OK, here goes.  So I had to go to the V.E.T. last Friday because I have had so many episodes of bile vomiting, losing my meals, and ahem, "irregular" poop output even though I was eating fine and playing as I always do.  So I had a bunch of analyses done on my "sample" and blood work.  My blood work was overall pretty good with just a couple of slightly lowered numbers that the vet said was probably due to all the upset going on.  No parasites found in the famous sample, a tiny bit of blood, a little bit of bacteria, but not too bad, and no giardia.  My symptoms remained unexplainable, but I started on some metronidazole on Saturday along with my pepcid.  Mom calls that metro stuff the magic cure.

Well, guess what, it did nothing for me.  By Tuesday night there was no improvement.  Mom had waited the few days recommended by the vet and decided it was time to look at other options.  So yesterday I had the pleasure of another trip to the V.E.T.,  and this time I saw Mom's favorite vet, Dr. B.  He was as perplexed as the other vet. He talked about doing a PCR test to check for just about everything.  But then they decided to take pictures of me first.  I am a great model for photos, but I guess this wasn't quite what they had in mind.  They wanted to take x-rays of my insides!!!  They made me lie still on a table on my side and on my back. They said I was a super good and cooperative boy.

AND Dr. B. saw something in there that was not quite right. He said I have a partial blockage in my intestines, whatever that is.  He said it has almost come all the way down the path and should make its way out very soon.  What the heck?  What could it be???  He said it looks like a conglomeration of fur, sticks, maybe bones, maybe birdie bones, but he couldn't be sure.   Mom is thinking it may be a mix of all of that since I eat everything and anything I can find.

I promise I will try not to eat anything bad out here anymore because I sure don't like that new medicine I have to take.  Dr. B. gave me something called "enteric" something or other.  It is a pink liquid, and it tastes horrible.  Mom has a hard time getting it into me, and I have to take it three times a day for a couple of days.  And I will still finish the metronidazole.  The good thing is that Mom's examination of the output today revealed a bit of improvement in the consistency of the substance, if you get my drift.  But don't get too close, because that drift might be a little odoriferous:)  BOL.

The rest of The OP Pack is doing just fine and are hoping I get back to normal soon.

Meanwhile, here are some happy faces as we are all thankful to have finally found out what is going on with me.

  8. Oopsie Poopsie, we always say. Well, not really. We rarely say anything like that! Just remember Timber, not only does everything that goes around, come around, but what goes in, must come out. Sometime or other, one way or another. Enough of the lecture! Be well soon, little pup, and NO MORE eating yuk-stuff.

  9. Timber, we sure hope you are on the way to recovery. Sure sounds like it hasn't been a fun time for you or the Mom. Maybe just eat your dog food for now. WE sure send lots of good thoughts.

  10. Timber we are glad that the dogtor figured out just what is going on. Hopefully as soon as you pass your conglomeration you will be right as rain. Mom worries about me and Hazel cause we like to eat the fallen leaves and Hazel scarfs up grass scraps and other vegetation if mom doesn't keep a close eye.

  11. Ok Timber, you need to come stay with Noah for a few days. He takes that pink stuff every morning because of his colitis. He sits down in front of Mom. She sticks the syringe into the corner of his mouth and he swallows the stuff without spilling a drop. He can teach you how.

  20. Oh my goodness! To be a puppy again. I remember when Fiona was about your age Timber and we had a sample taken in and the vets were all giggling at all the little pieces of plastic, sticks, etc. that were in it.

Seriously hope you feel better real soon, so the momster can stop worrying about you! :)

  23. Poor Timber, a tummy ache, and nasty medicine! Mom said Barkley got into trouble for eating stuff he wasn't supposed to and they had more than one unexpected run to the vet. Other than the "raisin cookie" incident I've behaved myself. Get Well Soon!

  24. Timber, We hope you don't have an old sock in there too.
What ever is up your pooper we hope it's gone soon.
My mom's old bull mastiff ate peaches and the pits off a tree once
it' was very scary and he had emergency surgery.

  26. Oh no Timber! We are so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Actually Dakota was having loose poop the past 2 days (he is on a very bland diet right now), the Vet thinks it is because he was trying new food (when he only ate one brand for 11 years prior to this).....so, we are getting him back on his old food. Praying you are ok!!

  27. Timber you sure have been through a lot of stuff to try and figure out what's what but it sounds like maybe you must have eaten too many "treats" out in the yard - stuff you shouldn't eat probably! I bet when that "STUFF" gets out of your intestines and deposited elsewhere you will feel like a NEW MAN! Out with the bad and in with the good. You must promise to take your meds and poop out all the ickies ASAP so you will feel tons better OK? OK!

    Hugs, Teddy
