Sunday "Selfie"

Call it what you will - selfies, groupie, ussie.

WE ARE FAMILY!!!

Below is a shot of Lightning's incision on day 2 post surgery.  Mom thinks it looks pretty good.  He is walking a bit better today, but he has a long way to go.  There is some swelling in his ankle joint, but Mom thinks it is to be expected at this stage.  She is going to be doing some icing of the leg today.

The incision is about 4 inches long.

Lightning is not happy about his confinement to the laundry room at night.  He whimpered all night long, not really that loud, but a very pitiful cry - come let me out, please, Mom.  He has to stay in there rather than being confined to the kitchen because Mom worries more about Timber and Misty bumping him than him doing anything to hurt himself.  And of course, if Mom and Dad are both out of the house, he needs to be in there. So Mom is trying to be firm and make him stay in there in as comfortable a setup as possible.  This is one time we all hope time flies.

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  4. He'll probably get used to it at some point. I hope so anyway. He wants to be with his pack and we all understand that.

Have a woof woof Sunday Selfie. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥

  9. Hello Friends! With our recent loss of Eva, and being out of town, I have not had the chance to read any blogs. To tell you that I am sorry to hear about the most handsome Lightning having to have surgery is an understatement! But I am so, so glad that he's doing well. He has the best of care, and the best of people and dogs cheering him on for an uneventful recovery, and patience while he's doing it! Our very best vibes are coming to your house from where I'm at in Kentucky, and from our big crowd in Virginia too!!!

Take care, and know you're all being thought of!

  15. Even with that cone on, it makes a lovely ussie! Things look like they healing up fine, though I do feel for you being confined for those hours. But at least your parents are there most of it and you have friends around and about. Two weeks will go just like that, I am sure... PLUS you will get lots of extra loves and treats too! Maybe push for three weeks if thats the case, MOL

  17. We don't visit everyday so when we looked in on you all this AM, we learned all about Lightning's surgery! OH no! But it looks like you are getting excellent care, and though it will be hard to be calm and quiet for so long, it's all for the good! Healing wishes sent your way!

  18. Your incision looks good. You remind Mom of Tsar. He couldn't be crated either. Mom tried confining him to the laundry room but he hated it and figured out how to open the door. So finally he and Mom worked out a plan. If she didn't try to confine him to a little place, he would stay quietly in her office and sleep under her desk. It worked for both of them.

  21. Oh, Lightning...I've been without a laptop for so long (had only been working off a phone at times) and have lots of catching up to do! SO sorry about your surgery. Blowing CCLS is the pits! My Wolf and Chloe had the CCL surgeries as well. Chloe blew out both at same time and had bilateral imbrication surgeries. Wolf had one done one year, and then the other the following. Your photos bring back so many memories of that time. Rest up and listen to Momma and you will be back up and running around soon again. Wolf says he feels for you...he, too, was not crate happy, so I had to lay blankets down next to my bed and keep him on a harness and leash while I slept so he wouldn't move! It is not so easy keeping a Husky still! And that cone of shame...ugh. We are all sending you lots of love and healing wishes, sweeties. xoxoxo
