Thankful Thursday and a Quick Update

It's still Thursday, right?  Still time to join in on Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

So here I am after getting home from my follow-up visit with Dr. H., my orthopedic surgeon.

As you can see, I am still a conehead and will be for at least one more week.  Dr. H. said my incision is looking a lot better after Dr. B. put those stitches in and Mom drugged me:)  BUT he doesn't want me to open up my incision again.  His assistant will reassess next Thursday and see if the stitches/staples can come out then or if I have to wait another week.  I am still on a no stairs restriction. leash only outside time, no more than 5-10 minute walks.  He also suggested Mom keep me on the sedation medication since it seems to be working well.  Sigh . . . .

But Mom and I are thankful because Dr. H. said that, despite the problems with my incision, my leg seems to be healing well and I am walking as well as he would like to see.  He added that the third week of healing for a TTA surgery is critical for the full recovery of the knee and bones.  That is why all my restrictions on activity are still in place for next week, and probably beyond.

So are you wondering why I am smiling?  Well, you may remember that one of my human sisters had surgery in January for breast cancer.  After a bilateral mastectomy and seven weeks of radiation and weeks more of healing and getting stronger, she was given the A-OK for reconstruction.  She had that surgery today, and it looks like all went well - another reason for all of our thankfulness.  She was able to go home late afternoon.  Mom will be even busier than she already is helping out with the kids and some of the housework stuff.  So I promise to be as good a boy as I can.

My eyes are starting to feel a wee bit heavy - and I know I will sleep well with Mom right there by my side.

Woos - Lightning

  6. I'm so glad the healing is going well, even if it's hard to be patient. A bit of medicine to make Lightning sleepy does seem like a good idea.

  14. I know that you hoped to have the stitches out on Thurs but this seems like the next-best news. I am so glad that you're healing well. The sedation should help your mom to take care of both you and your human sister. The sedation drug that R took made him whine a lot (but did keep him still) - I hope that you are quiet despite being a wooing Sibe!

That is wonderful news about your human sister. Sending POTP to her and you!
