Thankful Thursday

Let's see why we all thankful today as we join Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

We will start out by saying we are thankful to have power and heat today as we were under the gun overnight for an ice storm.  We did get a "sort of" ice storm, but we really got a mixed bag of weather.  We had freezing mist all day yesterday that coated the roads with a fine glaze. Then we had bitter cold temps along with freezing rain, THUNDER, sleet, snow, and more freezing "sneet".  So now the roads have snow packed ice on top of the first layer of ice.  ALL, and we mean ALL, the schools and colleges and universities are closed today.  There is almost no one on the streets that are still very icy because we have temps in the low teens.

So we guess we will have to give Lightning a pass today for wanting to do this instead of being outside.

I am so very thankful for my comfy bed and quilt and my toasty warm home.

The wise old boy has decided that the slippery stairs and the icy yard are not anything he wants to deal with as he is still limping around on that gimpy leg. Mom is thankful that he is such a smart pup.

But these two are remaining true to the Siberian Husky standard and enjoying the cold and ice and snow.  So very thankful for time out in the elements.

I am having a great time keeping watch over our kingdom.  I am thankful for the great view sitting on the hill gives me.

Misty would play the Siberian Statue like this all day if Mom would let her.  She is also thankful for her extra thick natural coat.

No, we don't want to come in - we are wondering when Lightning is going to join us.

I am not bugging Lightning, Mom.  I just want him to come out and play with us.  I know he would love to join me and Misty.

Yes, I see he is not jumping at my request, but I have super powers and a convincing personality.  I know I will get him to change his mind.

See, I did get Lightning to come outside.  Yes, he wants to come inside again, but Misty and I think it is just because you have cookies in your human paws.

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  6. Misty and Timber, you are in your element out in that weather. I am with Lightning though and would much rather be in the warmth. I hope his leg is soon better, but I don't suppose the cold weather helps it. I know my bones certainly don't appreciate it!

  17. We had a little ice storm here too and today it's very windy. All our snow has melted so we would like to come play in your yard. That way Lightning can stay inside while we younger ones have fun in the snow.

  20. You are a wise pup, Lightning! That weather sounds really scary. A friend of #1's in PEI, Canada, fell on ice and broke her ankle in three places this week.

We are having a bit of a snow this evening, but it's basically just rain and wind.

  21. We haven’t experienced ice or snow but we think ice sounds much worse. We would be inside,as well. But we can see how much the younger siblings are revelling in it!

  23. We started snowing on Monday evening and it did not quit till Thursday morning. It was only 3 degrees this morning and more snow expected this weekend. Winter is getting serious here in Idaho, we have already had more snow in Feb than we had in the month of January

  24. Thank you so much for your lovely message about our sweet Nala...it was very good to feel your warmth across the wires.

Stay safe in all your crazy weather! It is so good that you all have that big yard to go out in when the weather will not allow for walks!

  25. Oh yuck! An ice storm? That is the worst. Lightning is a smart boy, and those other two are crazy Sibes!!!! I didn't know that Lightning was still gimpy :( I hope that changes soon.

    Stay warm.

  26. I didn't know Lightning was still gimpy either, but I'm glad he's being careful. Ice is scary to walk on, so I'm concerned about your mom, but I'm glad you Sibes got some cold weather to enjoy before winter is over.

  28. We had one crazy day where we had wind, rain, ice snow and tornadoes. It was hard to keep track of it all. Nobody wanted to go out even for a minute. Now it's just COLD.

  29. Hope things warm up soon for you. The weather is crazy all over the country. Today is the first day with blue skies but it's still cold. Luckily I have two lap blankets on my ankles with a curled up pup too. 😍
