Silly Saturday

We got a new toy.

"Hey, Dakota, what do you think it is?"

"Looks like a cow to me, Thunder. Smells like one too.
Let's see what it can do."

And now woo must click HERE.

We keep hearing Mom complain about needing to buy more milk, so we thought maybe we could help her out. But we can't seem to figure out how to get this thing to produce anything other than "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." Maybe we need to do some internal investigation of its innards.

Friday Fun for Dakota

Most days around here the Princess spends most of her time sleeping. Every once in a while, she gets a spurt of energy. Yesterday was a very nice day in OP. Sunny, dry, and about 44 degrees. A far cry from the damp, cold, dreary days we have had. She was feeling pretty good and showed us that, even at 11 1/2 years of age and even with her sickness, she can still have a little bit of fun. Be sure to note the wagging tail as woo watch here. Did woo catch a glimpse of the Thunder Dunder lurking in the shadows but not getting quite brave enough to come steal the ball?

Woo can watch one more time here as the old lady shows that she still has a bit of bounce in her bones. Not too long after, here is what she was doing.

Hmmmmmm......

What do they say?

"You can please - ALL of the Pups some of the time; SOME of the pups all of the time; BUT, you can never please ALL of the pups all the time."

Trick and Treat Tuesday?

Many of woo have commented on the different styles the OP Pack have both with sofa snoozing and sunbathing. Here is another example of the variety in their mannerisms.

"OK, who wants a cookie?"

Very food-oriented, Dakota and Thunder are front and center immediately AND notice how well they are looking at the camera when Mom says "SIT."

"OK, now, DOWN."

"No problem, Mom, we're down and we're ready - now where's that darn cookie?"
(Be sure to take note of Thunder's missing paw - that's his trademark pose.)

Now, woo might be wondering why the third OP Pack member, Phantom, isn't here. Well, he really doesn't care much about food, and so it is almost as if he is doing Mom a favor by coming over. Here he is now.

"OK, Mom, I am here now, but I am not looking at woo."

"Nope, I just can't look."

"All right, all right, here I am, I am sitting, I am looking. Can we get this over with?"

"What do you mean, DOWN? I don't even really want the darn cookie."

"So there, I am DOWN, but I will pawsitively NOT look up. Just put the cookie right here in front of me and go away."

So, what do you think, do they all get those cookies?

Woos, the OP Pack's Mom

Pee Ess, Sorry for the sad post yesterday but we were thinking how good that lady was to try to save Reba and it was a good reminder to us of how good our lives are. We will try to post a happy "tail" soon.

"Tears for a tail-wagging free spirit"

Such was the headline of a front page story today in the Kansas City Star. It tells the "tail" of what we will call a homeless pup, rather than a stray, who was dubbed with the name "Reba" by a wonderful and loving lady. According to the story, Reba was a dog "who in life was never petted, never touched. Yet one who touched many with her death." Here is Reba.

Her story is heart-wrenching but at the same time heart-warming. If woo would like to read about this "glint of red fur in the brush," please click here.

Such a sad story. We cannot even begin to imagine what life must have been like for Reba. Here at our home, we always have food, shelter, and lots of fun. Stories like Reba's really make us understand how fortunate and loved we are. As Thunder will show woo below, we always feel someone's loving touch.

Thanks, Mom, that feels sooooooo good.

Making the most of a sunny day . . .

Noontime, Saturday, Overland Park - 17 degrees - cold and sunny!!!

Some like it hot. Phantom found his place in the sun.

Some like it cold. Thunder first does his patrol work.

And then finds a cozy spot on the deck.

And some just like to complain. Dakota speaks her mind.

And then just sits and watches.

Tag - we're IT!!!! - AND a Special Nomination

Woo have probably seen this game on some other great blogs. The Fifth Folder Fifth Photo game of tag. Khyra was tagged recently and decided to pass it along. So we thought it looked like fun and here we go!!!

Here's how it works...

Open a document or file folder,
Click on the fifth folder and then the fifth photo.

Post the photo and describe it.

We really weren't sure what we would come up with because Mom is always taking lots of pictures. We thought it would be one of us, but no, look what we found.

This is a beautiful glass bowl that Mom received from her cousin for Christmas this past year. Her cousin lives in West Dennis, Massachusetts, which is located on Cape Cod. It was the perfect choice for Mom who really misses the ocean. She was born in Massachusetts and spent 37 years there and another 10 in Connecticut. The closest she can come to an ocean in Kansas is the one the AO4 found, the Kansas Ocean.

Since the bowl is so beautiful, we have included a few more shots of it. It was created by Michael Magyar, who has a glass studio in East Sandwich, MA.

The blue shades in the glass are meant to mimic waves and the blue shade is one of Mom's favorites.

The gift box that held the bowl also included a bag of real beach sand from Cape Cod and a collection of miniature shells and starfish. If woo bigify some of the pictures, you can see more detail.

Here is a link to the artist's work:

One last thing before we close for today, we feel so specially honored because one of our blog pictures has been nominated for Photo of the Month by The Bone Zone. There are a lot of other good pictures to choose from, but if you would think we deserve this special award, please go to the link below and cast your vote. Here is the link:

And here is the photo:

These are our two special princesses. The biped is Mom's oldest grandchild and the furbaby is oldest of the OP Pack, Dakota. Just being nominated is so thrilling to us. Go check out the other nominees and see what woo think. Thanks for giving us a chance.

Reader's Choice

So after a week's worth of sofa fun, what do woo think?
Who would woo say is the best behaved on the sofa?

The furbaby Princess?

Or Princess K (far right), Lady Sweet Pea (far left)
and Lord Jungle Boy (hmmm, which one is he)?

Thursday - Treasures Recovered

Many of woo wondered what I was trying to get from under that famous loveseat. Mom helped me snag a picture for woo.

Now I wonder how those two special balls got under there?
(Sorry, no squirrels, no remote controls, no snackies, no bully sticks, no crumbs,
as some of woo guessed.)

Don't I look like a happy pup now that my treasured
collection is complete?

Woos, Thunder

Pee Ess, thanks, Mom, for helping me retrieve my balls. BOL

Knick Knack Paddy Whack

Give the dog a bone.

OK, this is so not fair. Khyra AND Eva and Brice got yummy marrow bones. Dave got a squishy toy. Lorenza got a special chewy treat. River got a burger with pickles. Togo and Tagar got puppies. And Mason Dixie got a kong with peanut butter.

And WHAT did I get???

My own foot??? This doesn't taste much like a yummy bone. But it's the only bone around this place. And Mom is trying to tell me that, since it smells like corn chips, I should really be enjoying it.

Knick Knack, Paddy Whack, I want a bone too.

The Finale

Some of woo think we have a bit of a war going on here - sort of but it is really more of a game. Look who is back to play today.

"Yesterday's town crier tried to lay claim to MY royal resting space. And the day before, Thunder Dunder thought he pulled one over on me. But I was fully aware of their fun and games. Today is MY day to find some R and R right here. Watch me."

"Here is how I typically begin my siesta time."

"And eventually I find my ideal position. Yes, I am just so content right now. Woo may be wondering where those two thieves might be. Woo don't have to worry at all. Check out what clever Thunder did."

"No, that's not MY spot. He discovered that the other sofa is slightly bigger for his slightly bigger body."

TD adds, "I can live with this - Phantom can have his loveseat - no problem."

"How's this for comfort and a good solution. Oh wait, woo might be wondering what happened to Dakota? "

"Don't worry, guys, I'm just chilling here, quite comfy. Remember, I may be the Princess here, but I am also the Boss. Anytime I want either sofa, it is MINE, all MINE."

The End.

Sofa testing - Part 2

So let's see what happened last night with the empty loveseat.

So it looks like Princess Dakota the Boss is blocking
TD's access to the loveseat.

And where has Phantom gone to find rest
now that he has vacated the loveseat?

He's either pouting or just getting some peace and quiet.

"Did you honestly think I was going to let DunderBoy
back on that cushy spot?"

"Ha ROOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Ha ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Hear ye, hear ye!"

"Mine, all mine!"

Thunder thinking.

"Have no fear, I have a plan - I'll be back."

Stay tuned . . .

Testing, testing, testing.

Woo may remember from previous posts that the loveseat belongs to Phantom. And the sofa is Dakota's. Thunder was always the good pup who never got on the furniture. Well, today he decided that it was about time for him to test things out. So he waited patiently for his chance to steal the loveseat from his beloved brother.

"I think I look pretty cool up here."

"Maybe I should get down."

"Nah, why not give it a try?"

"Woo won't tell on me, will woo?"

"Do I hear something?"

"I think Phantom is coming around that corner."

"No, wait, maybe he is coming from this side."

"I'm ready for him."

"I think I'll just pretend I am sleeping."

To be continued. . .
