Make-up Monday

We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving and so much turkey that we have been stuffed and snoozing for several days now. So it is time for us to try to make up for lost time and get a post done.

You may have noticed that we have a new look today - thanks to the ZH from Zoolatry, we have taken on a holiday glow. It is just amazing to us that the ZH finds the time to do so much for so many of us, despite all that is going on at Zoolatry - mega hugs to her from us - she is what we call a wonderful friend.

Speaking of wonderful friends, we have been overwhelmed to receive so many special awards over the past week. Even though we have seen these awards on lots of your blogs too, they are still very special to us - thanks to all who shared them with us.

We received this one from Ginger Jasper who said
"this lovely award sums up the spirit of blogging friends so well. I need to pass it on and keep the blessing going..." It is such a very meaningful award - we love it. And then in one of our comments, Jake and Fergi wrote: "We are so glad you came into our blogging lives. Your friendship is a real gift. Would you PLEASE go grab the You're a Blessing award from our blog? We really really want you to have it." Jake, Fergi, and Ginger Jasper, we thank you so much for sharing with us.

Our next award came from Daisy.

The award was created by the Purple Hatter. And according to the Purple Hatter here are the rules:

THERE IS ONLY ONE RULE FOR THE THE WHITE ELEPHANT AWARD……

RULE: GIVE IT OUT PROUDLY!

We received this next award from both Ginger Jasper (such a generous sweet kitty) and Dennis the Vizsla (a good furiend who is always so good about sharing his awards). And this was a quadruple winner for us as our lovely KC neighbor Twix and the sweet Piappies gave it to us also. Thanks, GJ, Dennis, Twix, and all the Piappies too.

Our last award is so meaningful at this time of the year when we have all been thinking and thanking for all of our furiends around the world, some who have been sick or suffering from the loss of a special pet. It came to us from Sweet and Sassy Sasha.

Here are the rules:
1. Publish it on your blog, referring the friend who passed it on to you.
2. Share 5 things you like to do.
3. Pass it along to keep the circle growing.

Five things we like to do:

1. Go for walks, long ones.
2. Take lots of naps.
3. Eat special treats.
4. Visit our furiends' blogs.
5. Do zoomies in the house to drive the Momster crazy.

Thanks, Sasha, we cherish your friendship with us.

Wow, that's a lot of awards. There were some rules here and there, but since so many of you already have received these and since we don't like rules anyway, we would like to share all of these awards with our loyal furiends. Please feel free to take and display proudly on your blog.

We had a great slideshow in our sidebar of all our awards. The slideshow was done through Bubbleshare. But for some reason, Bubbleshare popped its bubble and is no longer available. If any of you have a way to display your awards other than just a long list in the sidebar, please let us know. We need something to keep the Momster busy so she stops using the flashy box.

Here she goes again:

Mom was just riding home and took these sky shots with her iPhone. The quality isn't that great but oh those skies!!!

Maybe that means tomorrow will be a nice day.
Red skies at night, sailors' delight.

Meanwhile, while the Momster was out busy taking sky pics, we were home doing this, while waiting for her to get back and take us for a walk.

Is it time yet?

I am SO ready to go for a long walk.

Phantom on Friday

Eleven years ago today my beautiful Siberian Husky mother gave birth to eight little pups. I don't really know a lot about what happened to my brothers and sisters, but I do know that one day some people came to visit my first home. I was sitting in the corner all by myself and really didn't want to be sociable. I guess I was scared. But then one of them sat down on the floor. All the other pups were crawling all over her. I got curious and slowly walked over to take a sniff. Then she put her hand on my head and touched me so gently that I lost all my fear and jumped up to her face and licked her all over. And that's how I found my forever home.

So come celebrate with me on my 11th Birthday.

Thanks, Zoolatry - this meant a lot to me.

Tuesday Talk and Thanks

Today is a day of the sweet and the bittersweet. It was wonderful to hear the good news report about Max and his surgery. You can read more about Max at Petey's. And Butchy gave us an update on his sister Miss Snickers that sounds promising. We are so happy to hear the upbeat reports. If you haven't read about these two special pups, please check out the links.

But it is very sad for us to hear that our furiend, Dakota of the East, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Not too long ago, we dubbed the two Dakotas with special names referencing their locations, Joni's sweet Dakota of the East and our own Dakota of the Midwest.

Dakota of the East fought a hard battle to try to beat her kidney issues, but in the end she just couldn't do it any more. Here are a couple of beautiful photos of her that we pulled from her blog.

Loving the warmth of the sun during a comfy nap.

Snuggling with a furry furiend and getting a gentle caress from her Mom.

Please stop by and send some good wishes to Joni and her family at Dakota's blog, It's A Sibe Life. Dakota was very fortunate to live the good sibe's life with her family.

Saturday a very large box arrived at our front door and it was addressed to Phantom and Thunder. It was filled with lots of fun things from White Dog and her Mom as our prizes for winning in Hansel's Halloween Spooktacular. Siku Marie and her mom sponsored this portion of the contest.

Here is a photo of all our loot. Phantom's goodies are on the left and Thunder's on the right.

Here is a closer look at what Phantom won. There is a very nice certificate for winning first prize in the Best Excuse for Not Wearing a Costume, a bag of yummy treats from Dugan's Bakery, two very nice toys, and a gorgeous 2010 desk calendar filled with art and photography by Lisa Manry.

Thunder also got a beautiful certificate for winning second prize in the Best Dog Costume, some more treats from Dugan's Bakery, and two very nice toys. There is also a very lovely photo, also by Lisa Mantry, of a beautiful black-eyed Susan flower and bumble bee. It is magnetic and looks wonderful on our refrigerator.

Lisa Mantry is the mom of the kitty cats Hansel and Tesla and the mini Schnauzer Benny, who hosted the Halloweeen Spooktacular Contest. You can see more of her beautiful work at http://www.wix.com/thelovelylesil/lisaphotography.

Thunder checking out the loot, admiring that big bone.

And quickly discovering the scent of delicious treats.

Thank you to the beautiful White Dog, Siku Marie, and her mom for our prizes. We love everything.

And Siku Marie's mom told us this: "Glad you like the gifts. Just wanted you to know that portions of each gift included donations to the Humane Society, our local no-kill rescue, and dogs for vets. " That makes the gifts even more special since some others less fortunate benefited from the contest too.

Don't believe everything you hear on the news. They said WE got snow overnight.

Snow??? What snow???? Oh, you mean that white stuff on the tiretracks of the mower? Looks like we are in for another disappointing winter of no-snow:(

Thunder is a Hero

Thunder saved the day today for his Dad.
He even earned a gold star for his outstanding work.

We will let him tell you the story.

Mom and Dad were both up very early today. Mom is always up early, but today Dad had to leave at 6:00 a.m. for a business trip so they were both up around 4:00 a.m. While he was showering and getting ready, Mom was fixing all his medications for his trip. Dad takes lots of pills for a variety of issues, and he has several eyedrops he has to use every day as well. Mom gets them all set up for him in their properly labeled prescription boxes and then packs them in the quart sized bags that the airlines require since that terrible day of 9/11. She puts them on the counter right next to his cell phone, blackberry, and paperwork for his trip. Then when he comes downstairs, he packs them all in his carry-on bag.

When he was leaving, Mom asked him if he was sure he had everything he needed, he said yes, and she did a quick look at the counter to be sure he had taken his meds. The counter was empty. Dad left, and Mom was busy ironing.

Phantom was busy doing this on the loveseat.

And I started out here.

Then I moved here.

But I am not allowed on the wicker furniture so I had to get down.

I decided to try the big sofa since Phantom was on the loveseat.

But then Phantom got down, and I really prefer the loveseat -
it is really a very cozy spot.

Phantom isn't the only sibe here who knows
how to make a good Siberian donut.

But then I thought I smelled something different, so I stood up on the loveseat. I saw something resting on the back of the seat cushions. I kept staring at it, and Mom said, "TD, what are you doing?
Lie down or get down."

I just kept staring and stayed there until finally she came over and saw what I was looking at. Two plastic bags with all of Dad's medications.
He had left them there.

Now let me tell you, Mom just about freaked out. That's why there are no pics to show you what I had found. Dad had already been gone for over a half hour, and it is a 45 minute ride to the airport. She tried to call him on his cell phone to tell him she was on her way, but silly Dad never turns his phone on unless he is going to make a call. (Note from Mom, don't ask, no idea why he does that). So she left him a voice message and then sent him an email hoping he would be reading work emails on his blackberry. It is a terrible day here, it was raining very hard, there was a lot of traffic, and visibility was very poor. All the way she kept trying his cell phone, but no luck. Finally when she was about 10 minutes from the airport, he called her on her iPhone, she DOES turn hers on. He had just discovered he was missing his meds when he went to put them on the belt at the security check-in. He met her at the curb of the terminal and just made it on time for his plane.

All's well that ends well, but Mom says she would not have found them on time if it hadn't been for ME. Awwww, shucks.

OK, Mom, time to reward my work.

Oh yeah, that will be just wonderful, a rolled salmon skin. Hmmm, she even has two in her hands, maybe this IS my lucky day.

Hey, wait a minute, why is he getting one too? What did he do?

Oh, I see, if he hadn't gotten down from the loveseat, then I wouldn't have gotten up there, and so I wouldn't have found the bags.

OK, Phantom, you can have one too.

That's OK, bro, you don't have to look at the flashy box, just eat up.

I still don't know how to hold it with my paws, but have no fear, I will have no trouble finishing it off.

That was really good, Mom, how did I do? Did I tell the story well?

Woos,

Psssst, Mom, could you please turn the heat on? It's a wee bit chill in here this morning.
