Dakota still lives in our hearts and so today, on what would have been her 12th birthday, we wanted to send her some birthday wishes.

Phantom and Dakota have been working hard to help keep the memory of Dakota alive for Mom and Dad. There are so many little things about Dakota that we all remember and miss. Here are a couple of flashback photos and the pack's current efforts to keep the past with us.

The memories can be so bittersweet. I lost my GSD, Tony, one day shy of his 12th birthday to cancer. That was in 1997 and to this day, I can remember the loss as if it was yesterday. Some dogs leave such deep paw-prints that they can never be filled.

ReplyDeleteI was looking at some new blogs and I found one about a woman who has several dogs but one is a Chow-Huskey mix. This dog only eats three times a week. She has taken him to the vet, he is in ripping good health and so she just feeds him high calorie food when he wants it and thats it. Everybody is happy. Perhaps you know this woman who has Portugese Water Dogs, lives in Missouri. You can probably find them on DWB. Cheers and hugs, Jo and Stella

ReplyDeleteSending happy thoughts your way...I know the heartache of losing a pup you love so much...we lost our 'Cassie' over 5 years ago and it still hurts...we went to see Marley and Me, and I got into the 'ugly cry' as Oprah would call it, the last 40 minutes of that movie...it was like reliving the whole experience over again...wish the BIG dogs lived as long as the little ones, but I do believe all dogs do go to Heaven...yeah, and I suppose the cats too...
