Turkey Talk on Tuesday and Replay Monday

Yesterday we displayed and shared a number of awards which we have received. One of them was originally created by Petey. Petey had one rule and that was to share this award with five others. He left us a comment yesterday that made us feel badly that we didn't know that he really wanted the blessing to be shared with five others specifically named. When he posted the award, he said: "While each one of you is indeed a blessing, I think it is important to be acknowledged by name, and I'm sure each one of you will be declared a blessing as this award moves from blog to blog." We want to apologize to Petey - somewhere along the line his intent got lost. The OP Pack still wants all of our readers to have this award, but we will name five special blogs that we hope will accept our gift. AND today we saw that one of our new furiends, Twinkie, also shared the same award with us. Thanks, Twinkie - we are so blessed.

1. Rocky and his Mom - for all they do for DWB (and they can use lots of extra blessings now)

2. Khyra and her Mom - for all they do to make us smile and for the good work her Mom does with her many transports.

3. Melissa and Emmitt - for all the beautiful work they create for the children in Africa.

4. Twix - for the special love she has for her Grandma.

5. Tweedles - for always being so nice to everyone.

Now for some turkey talk. We hit the jackpot with Thanksgiving - Mom bought extra turkey necks for us. We really love them. Here is Phantom getting ready to have one in his crate.

He loved it and that is a good thing with Picky Boy.

And here is Thunder Dunder who loves his turkey neck but needs some help.

He has no idea how to hold it so he can chew on it. Mom had the butcher cut them in half so they would get eaten faster, but TD can't figure out how to hold it between his paws.

Then Mom took him out of the deck, thinking that maybe he needed more room than the crate allows. Look what he did:

Any pup out there know how to help poor TD so Mom won't freak when he swallows it whole?

Woos, the OP Pack

Don't freak, their esophogus' can deal with swallowing things whole. still, you do want to get them to chew it somewhat because the benefits of the bone on their teeth is good. I don't like turkey necks i decided. they're kinda of gross and hard to feed. I give them knuckle bones (which there's no way they can eat it whole cuz it shapped like a JACK and huge). when i gave them the turkey neck, i cut it up in 1-2 inch chunks and fed it in their dinner. technically, they can do the cutting themselves. but i didn't want that raw stuff on my floors, so i cut it up so they'd pick it out of the bowl and chew it. Juno ate hers and Loki did not (yet he eats raw knuckles and femurs). the next day Juno was very ill, and tho the docs swear it wasn't raw food that did this, i probalby will not feed a turkey neck again. just bad memories. but i still feed raw bones. Love 'em for the teeth cleaning!

sometimes the "bigger" the bone, the better, and not cutting it up is best. but serve it where you can wash the floor or on top of a blanket you can wash. cuz they're gross!

Oh turkey necks are very big. We get chicken necks quite often. Our diet is 95% raw. We usually eat chicken legs. They are our favourite.

After all my trips outside in the middle of the night after stealing the Sunday roast - don't think Murray's Mom is going to be giving me tasty raw bones, any time soon!

Love your new header - it is really fabulous.

Woo - TD - haven't you heard that you are supposed to chew eleventy bazillion times before swallowing?

OHOH< Where did the bone go!
Have a great day. I took your circle of friends award! Thanks!!!

Petey said...

Well that will show'em - next time, they need to give you the WHOLE turkey! You can't swallow that whole... or can you???

Thank you for reposting the award - I just love that we're sending blessings all over the world. It's just got to do a lot of good, right? And when you tell someone that you've blessed them, they are doubly blessed!

Your pal,

I get knuckle bones but I never had a turkey neck bone! That is plenty big and I might tell Mom to buy me one sometime.

We are supposed to get SNOW today.

I do love your Christmas look, its really beautiful!

Brice refuses to touch the turkey necks with his paws so he gets in some weird positions. Plus Momma makes us eat ours outside so we end up with dirt & grass covered turkey necks but they're still yummy.

We are turkey neck virgins, so we can't give you any hints.

Thunder, don't you know if you swallow it all at once, it's all gone. Dad keeps telling us to savor our food, but Tsar's the only one that does. The rest of us are in a big hurry to eat it and see if there's any more.

We love your Christmas header and your tree!
Congrats on all your awards!
Woo two are such lucky dogs! We didn't get any turkey necks. Mom didn't cook turkey for Thanksgiving, she cooked a roast beef instead, so we got some of that.
Say, TD, would you like to trade that turkey neck for some roast beef?

Tell mom not to worry about swallowing it, but you DO miss out on all the chewing fun and flavor! Besides the neck (which mom bought a few extra of so that we could share with our canine guests, Dad and I also got to share the heart and liver.

Thanks for your heartfelt congratulations on the blog. The Ceremony was very special and your words mean alot.

Now that looks like a yummy treat!

Bailey chews necks and things way too quickly... well when Sherman was around that was the case. So she would hold the end of the neck for her and she would chew... otherwise she would gobble so fast and try to swallow whole.

Your awards are so cool!! Glad you got them!!

As you know this was my first Thanksgiving and I has to say Turkey necks are the greatest. Mommy gave me the one to our Turkey. Mommy was very happy to read your post cause Grandma fussed at her for giving me the neck and she had been fretting even though Grandpa said it was OK. ~Fenris

I can't believe Mom let me get sooooo far behind. Thanks so much for the award. Our internet seems to be working better so we will be posting soon. You are such special boys...Mom and I love ya!

Steve, Kat, & Wilbur said...

The turkey necks we have had are not that big, just maybe 2-3 inches long. Mom gave them to us sort of frozen so they were hard and we had to chew them. Steve is a swallower, I'm more of a chewer.
