Mom had a wonderful weekend, very busy and very tiring, but with a great ending.
Before we get to the exciting news from Mom's weekend away, we wanted to say a special thank you to the Chewy.com team for sending Mom this sweet surprise for Valentine's Day.
Some very yummy cookies and a package of sweet hearts!!! We send hugs right back to you, Chewy.com and YES, we will be happy to be your Valentines.
We were also one of the lucky winners in Speedy the Cheeky House Bunny's Christmas and Holiday Countdown. We received a wonderful package of surprises from Speedy and his sweet Mum Rachel while Mom was away.
Mom helped us open the box and we found a big knapsack from Well Love. We couldn't wait to find out what was inside.
We got not one or two prizes, but SIX of them. Look at all these great rope chews - we will have lots of fun working on those knots. And that cute little hot dog has a squeaker near his tail. His name is Well Love, so we will show him just how much he is loved when we work on that squeaker:) Thank you, Speedy and Mum, for the lovely pressies.
And now for the news of the weekend. Mom went to Tulsa with our human sister K and the two granddaughters, K and C for the Revive dance convention and competition. The girls like to go to this type of event because only a portion of the weekend is competition. The emphasis is more on the classes where the girls spend hours in class learning and perfecting their dance techniques in tap, jazz, ballet, ballroom, hip hop, contemporary, and lyrical genres. Each of the girls had seven hour long classes on Saturday and Sunday. They are up very early in the morning and work hard until late at night. The competition was held on Friday. All of the group dances for each of the girls did extremely well with outstanding scores and award placements. Ms. C, who has been featured here for her dance excellence many times, took the first place award for her contemporary solo. She danced beautifully and was rewarded for all her hard work. No videos or photos are allowed during the competition so we don't have anything to show you.
Then the classes were held all day Saturday and then again on Sunday morning. Our Ms. C. was selected to dance on the "Crew" team in a final performance at the closing show Sunday afternoon. Only 9 girls were selected from her age division for this special honor. Her classes had about 75 students in them. It is quite an accomplishment to be selected for that special dance. The girls have to learn a special routine for the closing performance.
AND THEN, there was more!!!! Our little dancerina (who isn't so little anymore at age 11) won the big prize of the weekend. One girl from each age division is honored as the Elite Crew Honored Dancer. And yes, she was that winner for her age division. One of her friends captured this very short video of the announcement. All the cheers in the background are the other girls from her studio.
YAY, YAY, YAY from all of us too!!!
And here she is - our pride and joy - Ms. C!!! This photo was taken at the end of her ballroom class as you can see from her shoes. She learned a "swing" routine. Mom so wishes she would have been allowed to take some video.
Big sister K had a very successful weekend too. She was in the Teen/Senior classes and, although, she didn't receive any special honors, she learned a lot and had a great time with her friends All of her group dances received Ultimate Platinum awards (the highest possible) and placed in the overall awards for two. She is very proud of her little sister too.
Congratulations to our sweet C. You need to let us come to the next dance event so we can learn how to "swing" too:)
See how happy we are to have you home, Mom!!! Let's celebrate with some tasty treats!!!
