We are participating today in Brian's Thankful Thursday Bloghop.
Some of you asked how well our Paw Plunger worked. We are very thankful to say that we all now have clean paws.
Mom says the contraption actually works very well IF you have cooperative pups. Surprisingly Timber was very cooperative - hmmm, wonder what will happen the next time. Misty did not like it at all, but she survived. And Lightning was fine with his front paws, but trying to manipulate those back legs with his uncooperative 70 lb. NO WAY attitude was quite the challenge for Mom. The problem in our yard is that there is a dip in the property right at the fence line where we like to run with our neighbor pals. When it rains, the "track" fills with water, followed by mud. Our Kansas clay soil does not drain well. Mom and Dad have tried to grow grass there but it never lasts. They have planted shrubs there to try to break up our path, but somePups manage to run them down, chew them down, and/or uproot them. We have consulted with a number of landscape/irrigation folks to come up with a remedy that will work. Some have suggested French drains and then a cover of rocks. But no one will guarantee that the French drains will solve the problem. It is a multi-$1000 project, so the Mom and Dad want some assurance that it will solve the problem. Mom wants to reinstall our invisible fence inside the real fence to keep us in a more confined area, but Dad says we will just create a new track. The ideal solution would be to make an area that has a concrete base where we could have our own run area, but our homes association won't allow that. So we continue to deal with mud and hope for a good solution to come along.
Meanwhile, let's get back to being thankful.
Mom says she is thankful to see the areas of the yard that DO have grass are starting to green up. She is also thankful that most of our indoor remodeling is done, except for the new carpeting for the second floor. She thinks it is time to get started on some outside "remodeling". We will see how that goes.
All of us are also thankful that our human sister K has reached the halfway point in her radiation treatments. It has been and continues to be a challenging and worrisome period for everyone, but we are grateful for all the progress that is being made and for all the support she has received from so many.
Hope you all have many reasons to be thankful today too.
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
For that cost, I can see why you want to be sure it will work. I am glad you all got to go out together :)
ReplyDeleteWish we had some advice on the Paw Plunger, once in awhile Dougie Dog fusses, but most of the time now he is very cooperative. BTW: we shop at TJ's all the time ... what's the PB you refer to? Maybe we need
ReplyDeleteto try some ...
Your Woos would have loved our Snow Day yesterday, sorry we couldn't
share it!

I'm glad y'all got clean paws again and I'm thankful that Sister K is making some progress and we send tons of purrs and prayers to her. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteWe don't use a paw plunger but we access our backyard from our garage so our pawrents can towel off any muddy paws or bellies before we get in the house. We're glad to hear human sister K is doing well with her treatments and will keep our paws crossed for her and your family.
ReplyDeleteI got good and muddy today! You should see the bathtub after I got washed off!
ReplyDeleteWe have a low spot in the yard too, behind the silver maple where the grass doesn't want to grow. We try piling all the leaves there, but sooner or later they break down into yet more mud! That part of the yard is where the birdies and other critters go too, so I am always very interested in it.
We're glad to hear your human sister is getting through her treatments. We'll keep sending lots of POTP!
Thanks for the explanation. You have a lot to be thankful for. Prayers for your humans sister

OMD, I would NEVER EVER EVER lets my paws into one of those water plungers!!!! HOLY COW PATTIES! How did you SURVIVE???!!!! Oh man! just the thought of WET FEETS! Why, I don't likes to go in my raised mulch bed (where I likes to do my business), cause it's all wet! Luckily, there are two mulched places under the canopy that are kinda dry. Oh Woos, I hopes you dry out so you don't have to do THAT again....*shivers*

We are so behind reading all the blogs! Mom's had way too much stuff going on!
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy for the update on K! We continue to pray for her and her family --- including all of you!
Also ... we were wondering about those Paw Plunger things! Very interesting! Mom uses a small bowl of warm water to dip our feety-feet in when we get muddy -- but wow, is it ever easy to "accidentally" bunny-kick that thing over. Ha roo roo roo. Not that I'd do that. Well, OK, I would, but it's not like I'm the first member of the Ao4 to ever do it! My great-brother Zimmie was aces at it! Mom always says I'm a lot like him! Anyway, this looks harder to knock out of some-mom's hand; she might have to try it!
We've missed seeing you guys and hearing your news!!!!!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
