Update on Phantom

Just a quick update on Phantom. He had three lumps in question. The lumps on each side of his body were aspirated and determined to be fatty tumors as the vet had expected. We had agreed with the vet not to remove them if just lipomas since they are both in an area that can be tough to heal and one is under muscle.

The lump that is of the most concern on his chest was removed and "appeared" to be encapsulated, but, as the surgeon explained to me yesterday and reiterated today, there is no way to be sure there weren't some trailers feeding out until the lab report is done. All indications are that it is a malignancy but will be determined by the pathology lab. So I guess this is at least somewhat encouraging, but we will just have to wait to know more, maybe by the end of the week. Phantom will be staying overnight just as a precaution since his buddy TD might be a little too much for him to handle today. Thanks again to all for your good thoughts and wishes.

Home Alone Tuesday

Yep, I am home alone, but don't worry, I will be good. I got home from my day at the spa and looked everywhere for Phantom. Mom explained to me that Dakota had toa special place where she doesn't have any more pain and I understand that, but where is my brother?

I had a tough time settling down for bed last night. I guess Mom wasn't too happy with all the noise I was making with my toys. But since I didn't have my buddy to mess around with, I had to do something. I finally settled down on my bed and fell asleep. But around midnight, I woke up and was really lonesome and started to howl. Mom had to come down and sit with me for a while to let me know I really wasn't alone.

So here I am trying to decide what to do for the day.
Mom says Phantom might not be back until tomorrow. What's a pup to do?

I think I will take a rest and ponder things.

Woo, Thunder

Pee Ess from Mom, I will post an update on Phantom later today after I hear from the vet.

Paw It Forward Monday

We received a package in the mail from our pupfuriends across the big pond, the Dughallmor Beagles. The box was just filled with some wonderful things for everyone. The beagles' Mom was worried because it took so long for it to get here, but we think it just got delayed on the pony express mail service we have here.

Thunder has to spend his day at the groomer's today so Mom let him sniff out everything before he had to leave.

Looks like he has his eyes (and snooter) on one of those crocodiles.

Here is what they wrote in their sweet card. Click on the photo if you need to bigify it.

And a closeup of the cute card, a lovely bar of homemade soap for Mom, cherry-flavored, and some yummy baked cheese wedges for the OP Pack.

And take a look at this trio of crocs. TD and Phantom are anxious to sink their teeth into them.

A new tennis ball, Thunder is thrilled - he just loves balls. And look at those blue eyeballs on some more tennis balls AND a rope - great toy for Phantom and Mom to play tug.

And how about this well-dressed hot dog - complete with all the trimmings
AND a squeaker inside too!!! Mom wonders how long it will be before it is devoured or destuffed and desqueaked.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, WE LOVE YOU BEAGLES.

Here are the rules. "The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient may, in their turn, pass the kindness along and 'paw it forward' in their own way. This is how it works... We are going to tweak the rules a little bit. We would like to send a contribution to the rescue organization of their choice in the name of the first 3 blog owners who post a comment on this entry. In turn, IF those three blog owners would like to continue to Paw It Forward (there is no obligation to do so), you will then post about this on your blog, link to us, then send something to the first three people who sign up to play along through your blog. There are no cost restraints, BUT don't go crazy! The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given or found. No biggie, just a gift that will make the person smile. Maybe something unique from where you live? And, remember that kindness doesn't have to involve money; there are untold ways to help others every single day, everywhere you go - just look around." SO PAW IT FORWARD...

Thanks to all for all the good thoughts for Phantom. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. We will post an update once we hear from the surgeon, but we don't expect to have a pathology report until at least the end of the week. Keep that good zen coming.

Happy Fourth of July and our First Blogaversary

It is hard to believe but today is our first anniversary of blogging. It took forever to convince Mom to let us do it but, with a little help from our friends, Khyra, the AO4, and Sitka, Cornelia Marie, and Tia (and their moms too), we finally got our first post up last July. You can see in that post what our silly Mom did to poor Thunder. And yep, she did it again. Look!!!

So Happy Fourth of July to all and Happy First Blogaversary to us!!!

Now where are our treats for putting up with you, Momster?

Pee Ess, Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for all her help with our new header.

The V-E-T Report

Thunder here to tell you about our day yesterday.

And Phantom here with a few things to say about that visit too.

While we were both quietly snoozing yesterday morning, we heard some wonderful words - "Who wants to go in the car?" We LOVE to go for a ride in the car and were so hoping for a trip to Sonic or Dairy Queen. But no, where did SHE take us? To the V-E-T!!!

It was just humiliating, I had to have my annual physical exam. That meant they stuck that pointy thing up you know where, stole some of my blood, and if that wasn't bad enough, they stuck a sharp thing into me in three different places - SHOTS!!! They checked my eyes, ears, teeth, heart rate, AND they even weighed me. It wasn't a lot of fun but they keep telling me it is to keep me healthy. I got an A+ for good health, everything was just perfect. Luckily they remembered to give me a cookie. Mom forgot her camera so I don't have any photos to show you.

My turn now. I had my physical in January and everything was fine except for them worrying about my weight - they say I am too skinny - well, I am almost 11 and I have always weighed about the same, so what's the problem? Then I was at the vet in May to get my teeth cleaned. So why did I have to go again? Well, Mom has been watching some lumpy things on my body and one of them has gotten a lot bigger in the last few weeks and it is very hard. The V-E-T stuck a needle in the bumpy thing on my chest and stole some blood from me. Then she took it out of the room to look at some slide - I thought a slide was something the little kidlets here have in the yard to ride down. Anyway, when she came back, she was all serious and stuff. I guess there are some suspicious spindly rods on that slide - it is all beyond me. It's not a fatty tumor, of course not, no fat on me anywhere. But now they are saying I have to go back soon and they are going to cut out the lump - WHAT???? - so they can analyze it more closely. Then there was a lot of talk back and forth between Mom and the V-E-T and I guess it wasn't all good.

Anybody got any good ideas for how I can get out of this mess?

So no Sonic, no DQ. But I did find a new toy when I got home.

Woos, Phantom and Thunder

(Note from Mom, I will be calling today to set a date for Phantom's surgery hopefully for next week. I am trying to be optimistic here, but we sure could use some good vibes from all of you. Too soon for another problem.)

"What did you say, Mom?"

"No, say it isn't so - not VET day!!"
