Some of you may remember our adventure last summer with Sammy. Well, yesterday, Mom was outside with the little bipeds who were having fun on the playset. Mom was upset because she was seeing lots of great photo ops but her camera's battery was dead. She left the little ones with their Mom supervising and headed inside to set the battery on its charger. As she came back outside, she noticed that Thunder Dunder was having a lot of fun flipping something up in the air. She thought it was one of these banana-peel thingies that fall out of the trees.
BUT then the kidlets' Mom screamed, "Mom, he has a snake!!!" Sure enough, TD had found a mini-version of last year's Sammy - maybe an offspring? Mom told TD to "leave it" and amazingly enough, he did. Mom is petrified of snakes but was more worried about TD getting bit. So she used her foot (they are big - size 10 1/2) to kick it out by the edge of the fence. Then she thought to herself -"I need a pic of this". So she raced inside to grab the camera and replace the battery, hoping all the while that it had enough juice to snag a pic or two. Meanwhile the other big biped kept an eye on TD and the kidlets. At the same time, Mom grabbed a broom.
Here is a pic of the slithering hisser.
And of course, here is Mr. Curiosity himself, thinking maybe there was time for some more fun before Mom got to his new friend.
By this time, Mom had gone outside the fence with her broom. She let the snake slither around the handle and tossed him repeatedly until he was close to the storm drain. Then she pushed him down the drain. Who knows where we will find him next?
And all Mom kept saying was, "Stupid camera, that would have made a fantastic video!"
Woos, the OP Pack
OMD u must have been so scared, poor thunder!!!
ReplyDeleteU won an award on my blog swing by to collect it soon!!!
Goodness... Hope it wasn't the poisonous kind! We have Western Diamondbacks around here, and it scares me to death with I hear the dogs doing their "Alert" bark... sort of a hysterical sound!
ReplyDeleteThe last time they found one and had it "pinned" down, they were jumping back and forth at it... They move fast, but I was afraid that if they ran into each other as they milled around, they might get bumped into it. We had a definite "discussion" after we had killed it, showing it to them with VERY stern "No's," etc. Hope it works for the next time!!!
I have no problem with the non-poisonous variety as they keep the mice down. Linda (OC's Mom)
PS Came over to take a peek from Travis' Blog...
Oh my lord, I guess it wasn't a poisonous snake....well I hope not...eeeeek. We have some pretty bad snakes here in Oz.

Hugz&Khysses,

Thunder! How could you touch a snake! Don't you know my mom is coming to visit? She might not touch you if you have been touching snakes. She's a big baby when it comes to them. That's one reason she likes living here. No snakes on this side of the mountains. Your mom is very brave for kicking the snake. Our mom would have run screaming to the house and locked herself inside.
ReplyDeleteLuv,
Kat
We agree that batteries present a serious barrer to our artistic achievements. #1 has been heard to use very bad language when the P(&*UJ thing runs out of juice at just the wrong moment!
ReplyDeleteScary snake!
Tom and Tama-Chan
WOOF! I think Mom would freak out! She hates it when I try to play with spiders! BOL
ReplyDeleteLicks,

Major cool!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe would have loved playing with the snake. Of course, mom would be freaking out. Not that she doesn't like snakes, (she does), but she would be worried about us getting bit OR hurting the poor little snake. We haven't seen any snakes around here, maybe woo could send one to us?
woos & a-roos,
Star & Jack a-roo
COOL! Mom had pet snakes before she got us, we are far superior of course, but I would LOVE to play with a snake.
ReplyDeleteOh my oh my a snake!! I am so glad you did not get bit. Your mom would have had to suck out the venom or whatever he would put into you. =)
ReplyDeleteMy mom is kind of weird, she LIKES snakes!! We are sooo glad u didn't get bit tho. Snakes like to bite:(
ReplyDeleteIsn't it GREAT to play outside:)

OH NO!!! I is so glad the TD is not hurt! Or any of woo all. I wonder if the snake will go into the storm drain, get into some chemical, grow huge, and come back for revenge?
ReplyDeleteMya Boo Boo
**Runs away**
oh i has never seed one of those things afore. Is it a kind of monster? My mum say she not mind snakes, but we only have one kind that be poisonous here, but only a little.
ReplyDelete~lickies, Ludo
Our Mom's foot is bigger (size 11). She found a snake under a rock when she was weeding the flower beds last year. We wishes we could work the flashy thing cause watching her levitate would have been funny so we knows how your Mom feels about the battery being run down. Our Mom has two sets of batteries for her camera so one always has juice. Thunder we thinks you should leave snakes alone they can hurt you. ~Socks, Scylla, Charybdis & Fenris
ReplyDeleteEwww, an ugly, slithery, scary snake!!!! When we saw an iguana in the front bushes, my mom screamed and then she took a picture of it.
ReplyDeleteSee ya!
Joey
Jan doesn't know one snake from another. She hates them all. But that looks like it would be fun for some of us. Did you say your mom threw him down the storm drain? What city was that in?
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure! My mum says your mum was very brave.
ReplyDeleteHuffle Mawson
Don't like snakes!! Even those little ones...you are much braver than I am !! :) Love the dog nose getting in for a closer smell. :)
ReplyDeleteThunder is so luck that the snake did not do damage. Your mom was very brave.
ReplyDeleteWoo snake, Brave Thunder! I grabbed one too once, but Mommy yelled at me so load I dropped it and it slithered away, it was a big one too!
ReplyDelete-Kira The brave, also
Too bad you didn't find the snake yesterday, you could have added him to your GREEN collection! HAW!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it would take the snake too long to get out of the storm sewer, they are very slick about things like that.
Kisses,
Stella
Hi, friends!
ReplyDeleteA snake?? OMD! Thankfully your mom got rid of it!
Take care
Kisses and hugs

I think Thunder was very brave to protect everypup from the snake.
ReplyDeletePrincess Eva
P.S. Our Momma doesn't like them either and always screams for Dad when she sees one.
