Phantom's incision is healing well. He will have his stitches and staples removed on Monday. His itchies have mostly subsided. This has been a very stressful period for him. He does not deal well with change. He is still spending almost all of his day and night in his crate, by choice. We have tried to abide by his wishes for the most part, figuring that he will come out when he is ready. His appetite is fair, he eats his dinner well but does not want to eat in the morning. Between the shirt, the pills, the incision, the Mom checking the area, and the discomfort, he is not happy. Today for the first time he has come out of his crate a few times to survey what's happening and then goes back in. But at least that is some progress.
After talking to our vet and reading a lot of information on his type of tumor, we have decided not to pursue radiation for him. When his tumor returns, we will have to decide at that time if we will do more surgery or not. We are looking at some alternative treatments that some of you have suggested as well as some diet changes. Phantom is not a good eater and does not like to see change in his diet, but hopefully he will work with us. For now, we have decided to just move forward and hope for the best.
Phantom received a get-well package in the mail yesterday from Mason Dixie. Of course, Thunder had to inspect it to see what was in the box.
But it was addressed to Phantom, so Mom called him out of his crate.
Phantom smelled something good and came to see what he had received.
Look - Barkin Burgers and Wheat-Free Cranberry Clusters.
Thunder is ready for his turn too. And Phantom is always willing to share.
Both pups gave paws up to the burgers. Mom said they could try the cranberry clusters later.
We also received a couple of awards recently for which we are very thankful.
Mollie and Bobo sent us this gorgeous one.
We are supposed to tell you some interesting things about us. We have received this one before so we are going to cheat a bit and not obey the rules. But did you know that we both love popsicles? And Thunder loves to give kisses to Mom. He also has a girl friend named Kat and she is so pretty. Phantom doesn't like veggies but he loves Skittles. And they both love all their blogger furiends.
We also received this lovely ladybug award from Bell.
We are supposed to share it with our top 10 favorite bloggers. Now if you take a look at the number of regular commenters we have visiting us everyday, we think you will agree that it would be impossible for us to pick just 10 - so HERE - all of you can have it!!!
Thank you, Mollie,Bobo, and Bell.
Phantom just came out of his crate for a bit and Mom was able to capture a couple of shots.
Woos, the OP Pack
The look on his face when he was taste testing the cookie is priceless! Glad to her Phantom is feeling better.

So glad Phantom is beginning to come round - not many of us like change when all is said and done.
ReplyDeleteWith any luck his tumour will not come back for a while and Phantom and you can just get on with enjoying life.
What a very thoughtful present from Mason - that was so kind - Phantom and Thunder both looked very appreciative.

Great to see Phantom coming out to lay in the sunbeam a little and to hear that he is healing.
ReplyDeleteWhen Tasha was not feeling well, the one food that she never turned down was a scrambled egg with cheese. Maybe Phantom would eat that mixed with his kibble for breakfast.

ReplyDeleteWe continue to keep you and Phantom in our thoughts and prayers.
Like others, I have also heard that grain free foods help slow down cancer - carbohydrates supposedly "feed" the cancer. If you have trouble finding an appropriate food, I can send you a link to a dog nutritionist - my email is browniebarks [at] gmail [dot] com.
Woo looks so handsome, Phantom!! I am glad woo is coming out a bit more. I'm sure that incision is still uncomfortable for ya. And I'm glad TD is checking stuff out for woo!! We are still hoping to see woo running around and playing!!!
