Just being lazy like the Momster. We promise we will try to do better this week.
But, Thunder here, I do have to tell you that I did have some fun on Saturday. I can't show you any pics but I found him right here.
What did I find? A SNAKE!!!! He was about five feet long and really ugly. I made the mistake of flipping him up in the air and Mom saw me. She ran over and made me leave it, which I did like a good pup. I thought she was going to help me out by cooking it a bit. But NO, she got a shovel and threw it over the fence where I couldn't get it. What was she thinking?
Here I am carefully checking the grounds to see
if he managed to slither back into my territory.
Yeah, I can see you in there, Mom, keeping tabs on me. Don't worry, I haven't found him yet.Meanwhile, today I was outside on the deck when Mom heard a bang and came to the door to see what I was doing.
This is what she saw on the deck. I raced down the stairs as fast as I could. But then I heard those darn words again. 'Leave it.'
Be forewarned - the next pic isn't pretty.
Here is what I had to leave. Now you tell me. . .
Am I a ManDog on MonDay or what?I am Thunder Dunder the Hunter. Woos,
Thunder, you're the OFFISHUL MANDOG FOR THIS MONDAY!!
ReplyDeleteWow, snakes AND birds-I think that made up for a no-post weekend.
Poor thunder - tell your mommy you were protecting the house from intruders - Sweetie does this stuff too - but she is sneaky and hides her catches under the deck
ReplyDeleteWoodrow - Sweetie - MJ
Good works, Thunder Dunder the Hunter!
ReplyDeleteI spose she wouldn't let you keep the bird either?
I have never tried snake, is it good eating?
Kisses,
Stella
Woooos Thunder! You are the man! I caught a possum other night, but no pictures, Mom is never too happy when I catch things, I don't know why, probably because I do not "leave it" i like to eat it!
ReplyDelete-Kira The BeaWootiful
Thunder you are such a good pup even though mom took away your fun.
ReplyDeleteNext time try not to let your momster see it.
Sam & June
Unbelievable! I have tried to catch things - by climbing trees, rocks and fording rushing rivers, but alas... only the tiny cat regularly brings beasts with feather or fur back to my mom, and frankly, I'm a bit envious.
ReplyDeletexo Sammie
LOL You ARE the DogMan for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my!
ReplyDeleteWoo are are such a great hunter-gatherer!
I bet Kat's heart will be a-racin' when she sees this!
As fur the lazing thing: nothing wrong with that! I did plenty of that myself!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
You are a mighty hunter indeed. You should have at least gotten to eat that poor little bird.
ReplyDeleteWe had a similar experience only momma heard "cruch, cruch, cruch" and found out that I was eating cough drops (don't worry, they didn't give me sickies). I had nice breath all day.
I think you should leave snakes to terriers. They are really good at shaking them up.
Slobbers,
Mango
You are the best hunter in KS! I would think that your mom would like you catching your own dinner but mom's are weird like that.
ReplyDeletePrincess Eva
We love lazy weekends, especially when it's raining or cold outside.
ReplyDeleteYou're a great Hunter Thunder.
Love Ruby & Penny
Wooooow Thunder Dunder the Hunter!
ReplyDeleteThe lil piappies Frappie, Mocha and Sugar are clapping their paws and are in awe with your courage and coolness!
Mr. Birdie got lots of its feathers gone and the Mr. Ssssnake would probably been torn into pieces if your mom did not make you stop. Worry not though, she was probably very concerned that the nasty thing would bite you.
Stay safe there!
- Fudgie, Princess and the Piappies
Oh my, Thunder I am not sure about the snake thing and it really freaks my Mommy out. In the last picture you look so handsome. You are truly a "Mandog", no birdy is safe around Thunder!
ReplyDeletelicks and sniffs, Sasha
Thunder, you always look very manly to us, whether you hunt or not!
ReplyDeleteYou look very, very manly there Thunder. I am impressed very much wiff all your manliness. BOL!

Dear Thunder,
ReplyDeleteYou are a goood watch dog and you sure know how to entertain yourself.
Luv,
Riley and Star.
Wow, you have an exciting back yard. Last night when we went out for last call, Mom smelled skunk. She took her flashlight and looked around the yard. Mr Skunk must have just been passing by and left his scent behind. Mom didn't want to wash ten skunked dogs at 11PM.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the hunter, Thunder!!! Your momma should be proud of you!!!
ReplyDeleteLilo
Wow a snake and a bird.. You are sure a man dog.. Shame your mum took them away, she was just keeping you safe.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteCharybdis almost caught a hummingbird today. Mommy was not happy. Thunder we are glad the snake didn't hurt you. You shouldn't play with snakes. Now the bird was a pawsome catch, even us cats are impressed. ~S,S,C & F
ReplyDeleteA snake! I'm sorry she took it away- if you remember, we have our own snake visitor- you can certainly have him if you would like!! I know you are just trying to help. All this talk about the down economy- it seems to me you are just trying to be frugal by catching your own food! You better tell her that winter's comin' and you need to start storing up all of your prey to feed the family!
ReplyDeleteYou are a great hunter Thunder.. Keep it up.. You might find a frog for Norwood and a squirrel for Khyra...
ReplyDeleteBig Sloppy Kisses
Gus, Louie and Callie
Wow Thunder! You are one handsome ManDog Hunter! Critters better think twice before entering your yard!
ReplyDeleteAww..poor little birdie. :-(
ReplyDeleteA snake in the garden... you guys be careful, that sounds scary!
It looks like you had an eventful weekend.
Have a good week.:-)
Holly & Zac...XX
That whole 'leave it' command is broken when there is something to snack on. You have beeter self countrol than I.
ReplyDeleteOzzie
Wow Thunder! That was some day - snakes in the garden and dead birds!
ReplyDeletelots of woofs
Clive
Thunder the Hunter has a nice ring to it, I must say.
ReplyDeleteSteve
Ps. Mom says thank you for not posting a picture of the snake.
Woo TD! What a ManDog you are!
ReplyDeleteHuffle Mawson
Good ManDog Thunder Hunter!!! Pretty cool day and I'm glad you left the snake alone. My mom got bite by one some years ago trying to protect her dog before I came along and wow was she sick and in the hospital for awhile. Dead birds..yeah, I get those too in my yard but mom makes me spit them out. The worst thing I got when I was a pup was a frog which made me gag like crazy and then mom got it and threw it across several yards..probably still in an apple tree somewhere. I'd say you are doing great...but do stay away from those snakes..bad bad news for sure.
ReplyDeleteThunder!
ReplyDeleteI can see you had a very busy weekend!
Sorry you could not keep them!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Ooh, Thunder - I think you are like that Crocodile Hunter human who was on TV before - always attracting wild creatures! What an exciting time you've been having!
ReplyDeleteWe had one of those "bang birds" too - it flew into the big glass folding doors between our garden and our living room - it must have been trying to come into our living room! Hee! Hee! Actually, Hsin-Yi told me that it was a baby bird still learning to fly and so didn't know how to steer properly. Anyway, it was lucky and was just a bit stunned and when Hsin-yi picked it up, it wriggled a bit and then flew away!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
What I want to know is who invented those dreaded "leave it" words...
ReplyDeleteWhat a macho man you are Thunder!!
Smileys!
Dory
Thunder the Hunter - awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe watched one day while a bird kept buzzing Natasha. She watched it swoop past over and over and over and finally she had had enough. The bird swooped, she struck, and the bird was in her mouth still in midflap. She spit it out (a little late for the bird) and laid back down for her nap. Woo.
Snakes give our mom the heebie-jeebies.
ReplyDeletePlay bows,
Zim
Excellent job there Thunder! Definitely a ManDog on a MonDay!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Maxx
You the MANdog!!
ReplyDeletelove & wags,
River
You make such a great hunter Thunder! I can't help but be a bit jealous! Cause I can only hunt things that are indoors! A snake! Hmmm! You be careful!
ReplyDeleteWow TD!!! You are on a roll!! Congrats on your hunting prowess!!!
ReplyDeleteHolly
PeeEss: why does all the good stuff get tossed over the stupid fence?
Great job Thunder!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't get to taste the snake. We be it would have been much better than that bird.
You sure did keep you mom busy huh!
Chasing my tale...
Addie, Lucie, and Hailey
Thunder, you are a manly man-dog and that's fur sure but our momma is on your momma's side. You just never know what kind of icky things will get into your belly eating wild critters from your yard.
ReplyDeleteI think Animal Planet has found its next "pick up this snake and put it over there" star!
ReplyDeletesigh. I don't think we need the DNA results to know. You are ture sibe.
ReplyDeleteI love it also to be LAZY ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely post today and a special hug for thunder !!!
Hi Thunder - you are a great hunter, we're impressed! Mind you, that first photo of the two of you is wonderful - that's our favourite way to pass the time too, he he he! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
ReplyDeletePlease don't play with snakes. They're scary!
ReplyDeleteGreat job catching the bird! I love to try, but usually not lucky enough to grab them. I did catch a gecko the other night.
Mochi
Oh... I think you're a good pawtector
ReplyDelete~ Bae
Thunder,
ReplyDeleteYou are THE MAN! I can't believe your hunting skills! I'm in awe!
Pedro
Wow, Thunder, if you had to fend for yourself in the wild, you'd have no problem!
ReplyDeleteYour pal,
Sedona
OMD, Thunder, you are a pawsome hunter! I cannot believe your self-control in leaving two yummy meals!
ReplyDeleteWe're thinking that you used your time very wisely, Thunder! Great job, but too bad you couldn't finish off the snake! ewwwwwwwwww
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots
